105 this morning.  We had a high of 74° yesterday and now it is going to warm up a bit each day and we should be in the low 90s by the weekend.
That sounds great Barbara.  If they can mount it on the same pole that would be nice.  Since you have a Dish receiver on that pole you already know what it takes to sweep the snow off of it.  I had a squeegee on a long pole and there were times I had to go out several times during the day to push the snow off of the dish.  It wasn't that bad and we didn't get snow that often but it was a chore that needed done.
It's been a few years since I had Hughes and I don't remember what the speeds were but you should not have a problem upgrading with it.  They do have a data cap but the upgrade for your laptop shouldn't be that much.  If it is the same as when I had it you are better off to do it when their "off peak" time is but I don't remember when that was.  You will get all of that information.

They will surely check your laptop and confirm the speed with you. It would be a good time to get your printer setup as well, since help is on the way.

118 this cloudy morning.

59° was the high yesterday. Today's forecast is 59°/46°with a few showers possible.

Picked up the Meloxicam yesterday, boy the tablet is tiny!! It did seem to take some of the aches and pains away after only 1 pill so this may help me stave off any hand surgery for now.

skb, that is a good idea re the printer!! Just maybe the installer can get it set up, though not sure because of the needed upgrade, but printer did say would work with the one I am on now. I will just be so glad to be back online!

Wally do you know if Consumer Cellular will let me bring my iPhone7 over with me or will I have to get a new phone too?

Can't wait to be done with Century Link and AT&T!!!

106 this morning.  We had a high of 78° yesterday and will continue warming up today with a high of 82° predicted and heading to the 90s this weekend.
Yeah Barbara you can keep your phone and the same number.  You will have to have a SIM card sent to you to set it up so don't cancel your AT&T account until then.  When you call Consumer Cellular you will get all of the instructions and their Customer Service will help if you need it.  Changing the SIM card is easy but if you haven't done it before you need to insert the device that came with the phone, or if you don't have that a paper clip will do, into the small hole in the "tray" on the side of the phone and the tray will  pop out and you can change the card.  I would talk with Customer Service first and get them to help with the setup.
I know the printer should work with your laptop the way it is but I would upgrade if you can.  I always upgrade my computers, Mac or Windows, because of improvements in how they operate but also for security.

98 this cloudy morning.

Yesterday's high was 55° with a few showers. Today's forecast is 66°/43° and cloudy. Some  nice days supposedly coming...

Interesting that the HughesNet installer asked me why did I choose them? He also installs for Dish TV. He says Hughes not the best...recommended local company. The one he highly recommended was the one I used many years ago and service was very poor. I went with CyberNet as my friend said they were great and I trust her over that guy! Will see if it works out...

90 this morning.  We had a high of 83° yesterday and is should be a bit warmer today with a high of 88° today.  It is going to be in the 90s over the weekend. We had tacos last night and I just found out that today is National Taco day!  Well, I guess being a day ahead is not a bad thing.
Well I would agree that Hughes is not the best if there is an alternative.  I hope this new one works out well for you.

What a relief to have internet again!! The company is now called Grizzly Internet CyberNet merged into it.

The installer even tried to get printer to work. Said it was all installed and phone and laptop see it ,but something is keeping it from working. He said the laptop upgrade may fix it. Will try upgrade tomorrow, hope he is right... something about "it is a mac thing" oh well...

Yeah, all I can think of is that the upgrade may fix it.  I had no problem at all installing the software and getting the printer to work on my MacBook.  Really glad you got your internet up and working and it sounds like the company is going to be a big improvement.

Actually decided to try upgrade now. It is upgrading to Sonora or whatever the newest one is and already I only have 4 hours left!! Looks like the other service was the problem....way too slow! They are history, already cancelled and also put in for refund from HughesNet. May be 7 days to hit account. Whatever as long as I get it!

Printer is for another day...

ETA:  (1:56PM) now time of download is jumping all over!  5 hrs to 18-19 and backdown...sigh

ETA:  (2:25PM) Welp... it timed out. May be time for that new laptop...

121 this partly cloudy morning.

Yesterday's high was 58°, today's forecast is 69°/42° cloudy morning turning into sunny day.

Checked my speeds this morning and got: down - 13.39, up - 12.07. Am trying upgrade again, hopefully at these speeds it may finish... Upgrade is saying 3 hours, crossing my fingers!   I'll post results either way.

I feel whole again, in this day and age, being without the internet, leaves me feeling like there is a hole in my life...we've all become so dependent on the net!!

102 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 88° and it is supposed to get to 91° today then 94° through the weekend and mid 80s next week.  Pretty nice for the Fall here but also pretty normal.
Glad your internet is working but I don't know what your speeds are.  Most speed tests report in Mbps or Mega bits per second and if that is what you are showing it is pretty slow.  My speeds with fiber are around 900Mbps up and down :

You cannot view this attachment.

This is very fast and not needed for most things we do on the internet but it kind of gives you the idea.  With cable I had around 200Mbps most of the time and that was fine for most of what I do. I am not sure what the "down - 13.39, up - 12.07" is referring to but if it is Mbps it is still kind of slow.  It will let you do a lot of things like posting here and surfing the internet but may be a problem downloading large files and the upgrade is a large file.  It may not be a problem with your laptop at all and if so maybe if you went to the Apple store they could do the upgrade for you.  I don't know if they would do that but it may be worth a call to find out.

The numbers are Mbps. Yes it is slow, but better than Century Link. The plan I selected for now is download of 10Mbps for $65. There is another plan with 16Mbps for $90 and one for 32Mbps for $120 but with the pending addition of the fiber cable in the next year or two I went with the lower price.

So far the upgrade is about 1/4 done, farther along then ever with CL. I messed up and shut down the laptop trying another plan for the printer, but it has caught up and showing 3 hours still for completion. This just might work this time! Will post again if it finishes or sadly if it times out once again.

Yeah I don't blame you for not opting for a higher cost/month if what you have is doing the job for you.  If it costs $120 for 32Mbps that is a lot for only a little boost.  Fiber will make a big difference and hopefully will not cost a lot.  My cost for the fiber I have is lower than the cable I had before and much faster with no cap on how much I download in a month so much better than what I had.  Hope you are able to get the upgrade installed.
