88 this morning.  We had a high of 93° yesterday and it is supposed to be a cooler 85° today and even cooler tomorrow and Thursday then in the mid to high 80s for the next few days after that.  Our roses in the front yard are actually blooming.
I have both dental and optical insurance that I pay for but it is through my retirement benefits so it is pretty cheap.  Dental is $8 a month and one exam and cleaning takes care of that.  Like you my optometrist uses Medicare to cover the cost of an exam but the insurance does help a lot for frames and lenses.  It would be a good thing to check and see what insurance would cost you and if too high at least you know.

98 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 89° and it is going to be a bit cooler today at 82° and even cooler tomorrow at 78°.  Yeah I know it is not really cool but then we will be warming up after that and be in the mid to high 80s so I guess it's all relative.
Amazon is having their second big "Prime Day" sale of the year but I looked and don't see anything I need and I am not going to buy something just because it is on sale.  It's OK if it is something you were going to buy anyway but I am not swayed by saving a couple of dollars on something I don't really need.

125 this mostly cloudy morning.

61° was the high here yesterday, pretty dampish and chilly. Today's forecast is 54°/41° maybe a shower but mostly just cloudy.

Man I went round and round with recorded connections trying to call my ins. company to see if I could add dental coverage. Back and forth, no human to talk to except the one that looked up my # and birthdate but neither could be found so got transferred Access Medicaid about 3 times and then back to start again. I was getting very frustrated!! Finally got a human of course at the Access Medicaid # ,but she said she couldn't find me either. Turns out it is a commercial account through Pepsi my late DH's employer and is a totally different situation, United just administers it. This woman covered Arizona and Colorado...how the heck did I get there???? She understood my frustration and was very nice but no help. Suggested I call Pepsi. At that point I was done, just done with the run around  (45 min later). I'll look for some local senior dental coverage I guess. Gaahhhh!

At least tooth/jaw is better but it does need looking at. Now the next search begins...

Yeah Wally, I saw that sale too. I looked at some of the things but the only things I am looking for are some more new warm winter clothes. I may check out the Women's clothing again....but I'm not going to. sho just to save a couple $$ either!

Sound logic, Wally. We all tend to shop unnecessarily buy things we don't need. I've done a lot of that myself, I mean, who hasn't ?

125 this dark cold morning.

Yesterday's high was 53° with partly cloudy. skies. Today's forecast is 57°/36° with mostly cloudy skies. It is supposed to warm up to low to mid 60's for the next few days with rain again next Tuesday. Looking forward to getting the new warm sweatshirts that I ordered before Prime Day and the ones I ordered yesterday on sale. Really needed some new ones.

I am getting annoyed with Century Link again. They won't leave me alone. The other day I got an automated call saying because of a local outage my service wouldn't be back until Oct 26!! Really? Then I get a "Sorry you left mailing and did I want to rejoin and get these "great" offers? NOPE! Then yesterday I get a postcard in the mail from them saying my equipment is being retired ad I need to get new or I may lose my internet...LOL that is just beyond, beyond. I didn't have service anyway and now have great new service for this area.

That made me a bit nervous about the auto pay. CL told me they would take last payment 10/16 and then cancel, but it doesn't sound like one hand knows what the other is doing. Called my bank, they said wait until last payment clears then verify cancellation with CL and call them to make sure it has gone through.

I honestly don't know how they have any customers left around here if they are going to be out until 10/26. That would be a whole month w/out internet!! Sheesh!

98 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 84° and it is supposed to be 77° today then warming back up starting tomorrow and we are supposed to be in the high 80s next week.
I think that the fact that you got a "Sorry you left" mailing is a good sign that your account has been canceled but it is a good idea to keep an eye out to make sure they don't try to charge you again.  It seems like a common thing that with these companies one hand doesn't know what the other is doing.  I see that often and usually can just ignore it but when it involves money I don't ignore it until I can verify that the right hand is doing what is right!
My brother lives in Washington state and had Century Link when he first moved there and had constant problems with them and finally was able to change.  It seems like that is normal for them.  To be out of service for that long is just unheard of even here with the company I had before the one I have now.  If we were out of service it may be for a couple of days but was usually even less.

There was a winner of the Power Ball jackpot here in California and it was in a town not far from here.  $1.76 Billion is a lot of money and even the amount that the winner gets by taking the lump sum in a lot less, $774.1 million, is still a lot of money.

WOW!! That is a lot of money! How could anyone even spend that much?? I don't play the lottery or gamble in any way, but sometimes you have to wonder how it would be to win a huge lump sum like that...

I wonder how Century Link even stays in business with the kind of service/lack of service they provide?

Yeah that is surely a lot of money.  In California you have to collect the winnings in person and they make a big deal of who the winner is so you are not able to remain anonymous so it could be a situation where people are coming out of the crowd to beg for money or set you up for theft.  The winner last year of the 2 Billion jackpot has bought two multi million homes but still has a lot of money left.  You are still not a Jeff Bezos or an Elon Musk  but still not hurting.

Probably because they don't have enough competition and people will put up with a lot if they don't know of an alternative.  That was how it was here with Mediacom.  I hated it but there was not a better service available until the company I have now came to town.  I think as more people switch Mediacom is going to fade away but maybe not.

Yep, when I signed up with Century Link 15 years ago, there weren't any other choices so I went with them. For a long while they were OK, slow but OK. They just went into the toilet about 6 months ago, and this 30 day outage is outrageous. It was my final straw after 8-9 days and now there are several much better options such as the one I selected. They are a part of our electric co-op not connected, but under the same umbrella and the co-op is wonderful! CL's loss is their gain and my delight!

123 this partly cloudy morning. Feeling much better all over!

Yesterday's high was all of 54°. Today's forecast is 62°/37° warming but not that much.

Need to refigure Chewy auto ship into 2 separate orders delivered a couple weeks apart. It will be easier for me to unpack and store than the huge single order I get now. Busy work, but it will make life a bit easier.

102 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 78° and it is supposed to be the same today then starting to warm up tomorrow and we will be in the mid to high 80s next week.
I bought a new iPhone 15 Pro through Consumer Cellular and got it yesterday.  I didn't need it I just wanted it and I am going to sell my iPhone 13 on ebay and should be able to make a pretty good dent in the price of this one.  I got it mostly set up but I still need to get help from CC customer service because it says it is connected but does not work to make a call.  It looked like it would be easy but something is wrong.  Oh well I needed something to keep me busy.

So CC also sells phones? I am kind of curious about that new flip phone. Everything is getting bigger and doesn't fit in my pocket. I might upgrade the iPhone if they have a newer one the size of the iPhone7. That is as big as my vest pockets will hold safely. I am not a phone in the back pocket kind of gal at all!!  ~ cat ~

The iPhone 4 was of the best size IMO or even the iPhone 5 which was just a teeny weeny bit bigger. But as the phones started to replace TV, bigger screen sizes were required. I don't know if Apple will ever come out with a flip type. I have my doubts. I wouldn't mind one but then I'll need to switch back to Android.
