I know the flip phone they advertised is not an iPhone. I just like the small size. I'll probably just keep my iPhone7 when I get up to town to sign up with Consumer Cellular.

118 this cloudy morning.

Just above freezing outside and still dark. No sign of kitties yet, think I've finally got them trained, no food until it is light out...

Yesterday's high was 60°, today's forecast is 66°/42° mostly cloudy. Sadly when the solar eclipse is supposed to be visible here, a rain shower is due to go through so between it and the cloudy day we probably won't see it.

I'm going to set up the auto controlled trap this morning and hope for a couple "itty bitty" kitties. I am fast giving up hope of catching all the remaining cats that need to be fixed. I was talking tomy TNR friend about things I have been trying and failing at and she laughed, knowing the frustrations, and said I was becoming the trap avoidance trainer! LOL, that is why I think maybe giving up until Spring may be the best... The owners want me to get them all, but that is feeling impossible at this point. sigh

102 this morning.  We had a high of 81° yesterday and it is supposed to be 85° today so warming up a bit but still nice.  Today there is going to be an annular eclipse of the sun and it will be visible from where I live although it will be about 70% from here.  Still something I would like to see.  I do have solar "glasses" that I have had for a long time that were from Sky and Telescope magazine that I used to subscribe to.  It should be visible here starting around 9:30AM.
I called Consumer Cellular customer service yesterday and it appears that there was a glitch with the phone enabling the digital sim.  The newer phones use a digital sim instead of a sim card.  He walked me through removing what was installed and re setting it up and everything works now.  Setting up the phone is pretty easy otherwise. you just put the new phone next to your old phone and it automatically downloads everything from your old phone to the new phone.  I did have to re setup a couple of apps that I use like the app for my  glucose meter that uses blue tooth to record my readings to the phone and keep a record of them but that was not difficult and so far I am really liking this phone although it is not really that different from my iPhone 13.
Yes Consumer Cellular does sell phones and you can see a list of them on their website.  They have a no interest payment plan if you are interested in it.  I set that up and then pay it down earlier but can make the minimum if I want to.  They have no problem with you bringing your own phone and that is what I did the first time.  I think I have been with them for about 5 years and the iPhone 7 was the phone I had then.  I upgraded to the iPhone 13 a couple of years ago and got it from them.  The regular iPhones and not the max may be just a bit larger than the iPhone 7 but I didn't feel like it was a big difference.  I have done everything on line and you may be able to do a comparison if you go to a store where they would have the phones to look at.

Thanks Wally, I appreciate your input. I like to hear from people that actually use a service and their experiences with the service than just a random..."I've heard they are pretty good" from someone. Same thing I did with the new internet. My new friend has used them for years and their service is great.

A question, how do I unlock or what do I do to unlock the sim card/phone from AT&T so I can go to CC? Is it something they do or do I call AT&T? Never switched providers before. If I buy a new phone from CC do I even need to unlock the sim? Will my data transfere to new phone w/out doing that? Thanks in advance.

Well if you haven't done it you probably need to call AT&T and have your phone unlocked.  it isn't the sim card but it is your phone that is locked and changing the sim will not work.  My new phone is locked right now but when it is paid for I will call and have it unlocked just so I can change anything and that is what I did with my iPhone 13.  This way I can sell it and the purchaser can use any carrier.  I think you should call and get it unlocked before you go to the Consumer Cellular store.  You can probably can do that today.

Your iPhone 7 is smaller than the newer 12 and newer models although my new phone fits fine in the front pocket of my T-shirt and I will not put a phone in my back pocket either.  A comparison is here:

but another option you may want to consider is the new iPhone SE 3rd gen which has a lot of newer features but is the same size as your phone however there is no hurry to change as you can use your phone without any problems and can always upgrade at any time you want.

Thanks Wally!

It is nice to go in with some ideas and options. I like my 7 so will probably just keep it for now. It has 128GB storage and in all these years I still have 98.55GB available. So it is not like I need more space or anything. But if I do see something at some point who knows then if I will get a new one?? LOL

119 this cloudy morning. It is warmer at least 40° at 7:45AM.

Yesterdays high was 60° here. Sady too cloudy to see any of the eclipse, but at least no rain! Today's forecast is 69°/40° and mostly cloudy.

There is a cougar nearby, about 1/2 mile from here. Someone recorded it on the Nextdoor app and my neighbor's son stopped by yesterday and mentioned it was very near to him. I worry about the kitties, but they can get into small spaces the cougar could never get to so I am trying not to worry too much. Hopefully it will move on soon.

106 this morning. We got to 81° yesterday and it is supposed to get to 88° today so still warming up.  The eclipse was quite visible here and although we didn't see the total "ring", it was a crescent but a good deal of the sun was covered but it was still quite bright outside.  I went out and had a solar lens that I had picked up from a telescope seller a few years ago and got a good look at it.  I don't have a proper filter for my camera so I didn't attempt to get a picture but a neighbor did.

That is how it looked from here.

When I lived up on the mountain there was a cougar passing through the area once in a while but only near homes that were farther up the road from us.  Thankfully we never had one close and they never hung around for any length of time.  Hope that one stays at least a 1/2 mile away.

Wow! Thanks for sharing the photo. That is an awesome shot! I was really disappointed that the clouds covered it here!

Yeah it was clear here and I went outside to view it but didn't stay out long.  It was neat to see in person but it gets kind of boring after a while.

It will move on and faster than you think. Cougars (Panthers here) are the most adaptive yet most agile of the big cats. It's lower weight to size ratio makes it a very good climber and leaper. Getting close to human settlement usually means they are 'looking' for food and I have seen one even sift through a garbage bin. Probably it is old and has lost the agility required to hunt in the wild. If it has come looking for household pets (for food) it would definitely prefer something dog sized rather than kittens. For one they are too small and secondly they are as agile as the larger version and therefore not easy to catch. You should not worry and trust the instincts of your kitties.

127 this dark chilly morning (about 35° outside).

62° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 74°.48° cloudy with a chance of meatballs (LOL couldn't resist!) showers not meatballs, but I may have some for dinner...

Garbage up to the road today and a quick run to the grocery as the dry cat food isn't going to last until Chewy order arrives next weekend at the earliest. Going to get some of the cheaper food in smaller bags and see what they like/if they like it. Have to do something about the cost of cat food.

Otherwise just a normal, tidy up and chores day, maybe make another cat abode... I'll see if my old camera will work and try to get a photo at some point.

Sun is finally starting to rise (7:35 AM) so time to feed the hungry herd!

95 this morning.  We had a high of 88° yesterday and it is supposed to get to 93° today and be in the 90s all week.  I am enjoying the warm weather but also am kind of looking forward to cooler temps that should be happening soon.
K have an appointment to get my annual flu shot and covid booster this morning.  I just feel better having the protection and hope it helps.
I had my new phone on the charger last evening and it stopped charging because the phone was too hot and when I picked it up it was hot indeed.  I checked the battery status and it showed that the Norton app on my phone was using a real high activity so I deleted it and everything returned to normal.  I have a subscription to Norton and have it on my desktop, MacBook, iPad and the phone and it has never caused a problem before and I don't have any idea what it was doing but I think it may have been the VPN included with it, don't really know but I am not going to put it back right now.

Sorry, I somehow missed this post. Thanks, I will call AT&T later today and have it unlocked. It is already paid for so don't see that there should be any problem with that.
