82 this morning.  We had a high of 79° yesterday and it is supposed to be 73° today.  Overnight low was 48° so it is getting a bit cooler but not anywhere near cold.  It does seem early for your weather to be so cold and snowy Barbara but maybe it will start to warm up soon, hope so.  I know it is difficult to deal with, been there and done that.  It is easier down here off of the mountain and it can get cold here in town but not for a long period and I am good with that.  My BIL and me were both feeling our age and felt that moving to town was a good idea when we had the opportunity to buy this house in town.

Yeah, this does feel really early for kind of weather, I am looking forward to when it is supposed to warm up! And maybe we will stay in a more normal range 40's-50's for a while.

MT does have some benefits in my book. One is no sales tax. I like that it is small population wise and very country like, with a few larger towns nearby for amenities not available locally. Where I live in the valley, it is flat, no mountains barely any hills to deal with. There are other benefits for the elderly too, like I only have to pay 20% of my property taxes (partly because I am basically poor taxes-wise).

But the largest reason I stay is that I just don't have it in me any more for a big move. I pared down a lot when I moved here almost 20 yrs ago but some things are still in boxes in the garage. There is just so much here to dispose of or pack, I can't do it! And, a big and, even though my family is in CA I just can't move back there.

Of course there are also all my kitties to consider. What would happen to them if I were to leave? So here I stay for now at least...

Oh I don't blame you for not wanting to move for all of those reasons.  For us it was a short move and we had a lot of help but even then it was a major undertaking.

119 this frigid morning. Somewhere in the mid to high teens right now.

I am not going to disturb the kitties from where they may be hunkered down until it gets a little warmer. Trying to be very quiet so they don't hear me and come out.

Yesterday's high was 32° with just a few light snow flurries that didn't leave much snow at all. It was nice to see the sun for a bit too! Today's forecast varies a bit on several sites but looks like probably 35°/14° w/no snow! Gradual warming but still very cold nights for a few more days. By Monday, Tuesday, nights are going to go to 20's then 30's from Wed on.

Most of the new boxes I set up for the kitties held up well through this snow. Today I want to make a couple more and change bedding in existing ones. Thanks to Chewy I have lots of good sized boxes to use and usually I'll see 3-4 kitties crammed into one or another so I know they like them and get some shelter there.

I wish I could do more but hopefully the weather will allow some work on the shed and that would be great. There is already electricity there so I could put one of those oil heaters inside set low enough that it won't burn them if they get too close, just enough to keep them warm. Lots of work there!!

105 this morning.  We had a high of 74° yesterday and it is supposed to be only a couple of degrees cooler today so slowly getting cooler but starting Monday it is supposed to start warming back up and we are going to be looking at 80°, wow!  Well, Winter will get here sometime I know but not sure when.
Sounds to me like you certainly have your work cut out for you Barbara.  On one hand it gives you something to do but not what you may be doing by choice.  Kitties should be grateful.

Thanks Wally! I just have to be sure not to over do though as back is feeling the last few days. Took a Meloxicam and will for a few days. I still haven't heard from pcp on why she gave me so few, but I'll make due for now while I am doing heavier work.

124 this really cold morning. Barely out of single digits!

Yesterday's high was 30° no snow and some sun which was nice. Today's forecast is 36°/14° and clear. The clear at night is why it is so cold. Mild warming begins Monday.

Made another box with velour blanket pieces for front door nook, that is the driest spot around. Refilled 2 boxes out by garage also with portions of the velour and the kitties seemed to really like that. Have a couple more boxes to redo on front deck but at least so far their blankets are dry...just really cold. Hope the velour will hold the warmth better.

Did some shoveling on the front deck but I have to be so careful. Even with the Meloxicam for 2 days this morning back is not happy.

TNR guy fixed the auto trap and gave it to my friend to bring to me. She said it needed batteries, I asked what kind, she said "I don't know", I said well what am I supposed to do with that?? She is going to follow up on that... sigh

87 this morning.  Tacos last night and I usually do well with them.  We do tacos about once a week. ~hgr~
Our high yesterday was 74° and the overnight low was 42°.  Today is supposed to be cooler at 68° but it is going to be windy later this afternoon.  The temp. is fine but I don't like the wind.
I hear you about the back Barbara.  I have pretty much gotten over the sciatica pain but my back gives me a problem if I am standing for long periods but long isn't really that long, maybe 10 min.
I hope you can find out what kind of batteries the trap uses.  Sometimes it may be written somewhere on the device or maybe the TNR guy knows.

Well, this. particular trap is something the TNR guy built/gerry rigged himself. It works great when it works but still has many flaws. So it is not as easy as looking on it somewhere to see what kind of batteries it uses. Eventually he will get it back to me.

In talking to my friend from the TNR place he didn't really "invent" it himself just something he saw and tried to duplicate. Unfortunately it really is the only way to catch the tiny kittens as they are too light to trip a regular trap.

So now knowing he didn't invent it, I am going to scour Amazon and see if there is something like it available there. At least it should be fairly reliable...

ETA It was 9° when I went out to feed kitties!

120 this dark cold morning. Will add temp once it gets lighter... Dreading the time change coming soon, it will be dark even longer.

Yesterday's high was 30° but it was sunny and clear. Unfortunately that made the night colder. Today's forecast is 42°/18° again clear. Some rain back in the forecast for Thursday... (of course, because I have a Gastro appt up in town!).

I really need to try to talk to my pcp re the Meloxicam rx! I feel so much better with 1 7.5Mg tab a day but her rx doesn't give me that. I'm frustrated and don't understand her reason. Hope she will return my call.

104 this morning.  We had a high of 70° yesterday and it is supposed to start warming back up now and get to the high 70s and even maybe 80° on the weekend.  They are having strong winds in a lot of the areas in Southern California and we had a wind warning here but so far it hasn't been windy at all. Other areas are having red flag alerts and the fire danger is high.
I hope you get a response from your PCP Barbara that is something I really like about mine when I leave a message she responds pretty quickly.
I am going to try and do some clean up in my "office" and try to get a lot of the junk laying around either tossed out or put away.  I am so bad about it and things get out of hand then it becomes a big job.

132 this cold morning. Slept late, looks like 10° out there.

Yesterday's high was 32° and clear. Today's forecast is 45°/23° slowly warming but rain back Thursday.

Got my AT&T bill for last month, $157.86!!! Last month was $137.43!! All that "extra data" crazy! I'm going to consumer Cellular Thur when I go to town to see Gastro.  I have been on auto pay and never saw an itemized bill until now. There were extra charges on it for my iPad mini2 which I didn't understand. It should be paid off. That is what I get buying my phone and ipad from the AT&T store I guess. NO MORE!

On the good side, I called pcp yesterday and she had called in new rx for the Meloxicam the day I called (10/19). It is for a 90 day supply with one renewal, will have to get it set up w/auto renewal but don't have to worry at this point. A little communication from her would have helped! sigh

81 this morning.  We had a high of 71° yesterday and an overnight low of 32° so the coldest so far but it is going to start warming up now and we should be in the high 70s in a couple of days.
Glad you got your RX renewed Barbara.  I usually have bought my Apple products direct from Apple because using my Apple card it is 0% interest and I can pay more when ever I want to but I bought my last two phones from Consumer because Apple requires you to use a carrier from the "big three" Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile you cannot use another carrier when using the Apple card.  You could pay with any other method and get it unlocked.  I purchased it from Consumer and it is also 0% interest and monthly payments included in the bill and you can also pay more.  It is locked to Consumer but in 6 months and when it is paid for you can call and have it unlocked which I did with my iPhone 13.
I did get started on my clean up and made a dent but still have more to do however getting started is a big step for me.
Off in just a bit to see my dentist for a cleaning and exam so not a big thing.
