Well, if I decide to get a new phone from. Consumer Cellular, I will pay for it outright and forgo added payments. My AT&T phone is paid off, I even got an email from them saying it was paid off, did I want to buy an iPhone 15?? NOPE! I just want to be sure the CC doesn't include my iPad somehow. I don't even use it anymore and yet I was paying some $15/mo thru AT&T for its data usage?? It will run on my wifi right? If I ever want to use it...

Well no CC will not have anything to do with your iPad and will not charge you.  I don't know why you are being billed by AT&T except if it has cellular it is added as another connection in addition to your phone.  If yours does have cellular you can add it to CC as another device where you can receive calls and CC charges $15 a month but only if you want it.  It will not add it unless you ask them to.  You don't have to get a new phone until you want to but your iPhone 7 is going to be too old to get updates before long and it may not be important to you but I always update when a new one comes up because of the security updates and I want the best protection from undesirable intrusions.

OK when I looked at the statement I printed out, I saw my iPad had a phone #!!??. Does that mean it has cellular?? I never wanted/asked for that, this is so weird! Guess I just thought I was being billed for the phone and the cost of the iPad and that was all! Man, do I feel dumb. I do not want/need cellular on my unused iPad!! Apple won't even give any credit for it to buy a newer one, they will recycle it for free though...SHEESH!

As far as updating my iPhone7, so far it is taking the updates just fine, but I'm sure that won't last much longer. Then I'll think about a new phone...

121 this morning. I think it is warmer than the last couple mornings, will check once it is light enough to see the thermometer outside.

ETA 20° when I went out to feed kitties at 8AM warmer...

Yesterday's high was 33° here, nice day, but rain on the way tomorrow. Today's forecast is 48°/33°. Now I have to prep for the rain which will melt the rest of the snow off the roof. I need to get my gutters cleared as they over flow all over where I have the kitty beds. Have to cover them in plastic to keep them as dry as possible. With as many cats as I have this year it is a real chore.

Wally, another CC question. Does the act of putting their sim card in my phone automatically cancel my AT&T account? Does CC submit something to AT&T? Or once done, do I call AT&T to cancel? In the back of my head I worry that somehow AT&T will continue billing for the iPad. It has been 20 yrs since I've gotten a new phone company and I just don't remember the details. At that point I had a very dumb flip phone from a tiny phone company in Calaveras County, CA. I just don't want to go in to CC looking like the total fool I feel like at this point...

I see Gastro tomorrow and need to also schedule my yearly MRI of liver ugh. Then to CC after, and hopefully all will be sorted then.

104 this morning.  We had a high of 74° yesterday and it is supposed to get to 77° today so warming up and we should be in the high 70s over the weekend.  I think we are going to see a cooling trend next week.
No CC will not cancel your AT&T account.  You need to do this after you get the CC account set up and your phone working on it, then cancel your AT&T account.  Apparently you do have cellular on your iPad but when you cancel your AT&T account that will end it.  You do not have to activate that with CC unless you want to and you will not be charged for it.  I have cellular in my Apple watch and have it activated with CC and it is $15 a month but I want to have that.  You only pay for it if you ask for it.
I got my dentist appointment over yesterday and now I have an appointment with my cardiologist this morning.  I think it is just a follow up to see how I am doing with the Jardiance he started me on.  I haven't noticed any effect from it and it hasn't had an effect on my blood sugar.  From what I read the dosage is larger when it is used for BG control.
Apple had their event last night and it was pretty dull for me.  They introduced the M3 chips and a Mac computer and MacBook Pro laptops using the new chips and to me they are expensive.  If you want to max out a MacBook pro you can get it up to $7000 !

Thanks Wally!  I feel so much the dummy when it comes to this techy stuff,

I saw the email re the Apple Event but didn't look at it. Holy cow, $7000 for a fully tricked out MacBook pro!! I'll just stick with my little MacBookAir with the basic set up if I ever have to replace my current one. For my minimal usage that is just fine.

I was going to ask you if you thought the Jardiance was doing anything for your bg, guess you answered that! If it helps your heart good on it!!

127 this drizzly/snow flurries morning.

Yesterday's high was 34° and foggy most of day. Today's forecast is 50°/40° but rainy most of the morning and showers at night. Friday is supposed be clearer but rain back Sat into next week.

It is 7:30 right now and still dark, I don't want to turn on any outside lights as I want kitties to stay hunkered down as long as possible. I did what I could yesterday to protect their little shelters. They'll do fine, but wish I could have done more.

Gastro appointment is early afternoon, it is just my 6 month check up and I need to schedule my yearly liver MRI. I don't expect any surprises. I already know one of the polyps was precancerous. That means I do have to do the next colonoscopy in 5 yrs...yuk...but going to ask about pills instead of the "swamp water".

The only thing I am looking forward to about having to go out today is getting my phone service changed and a small shop in Target. First time there since the pandemic began. Otherwise, I would be totally happy just staying home where it is warm and dry and looking after my cats.

ETA 30°. when fed cats, light drizzle. Sure is easier when water and food dishes aren't frozen!

101 this morning.  I really slept in this morning.  I am usually up around 5-5:30 in the morning and today I didn't wake up until 6:30 so I guess I needed it but then kind of felt behind which is silly as I don't have anywhere I have to be today.  I guess it's just habit.
We had a high of 79° yesterday and it is supposed to be 80° today and the same through the weekend so still warm but starting to cool down next week.
I had to use the pills several years ago before they started using the "swamp water" and it was not really as good and as yucky as the "swamp water" is it does do a much better job.  That was a long time ago though so they may have better methods now but as nasty as the liquid stuff is it seems to do a better job.
I hope you get everything you need from the CC people today.  I imagine that the reps you deal with are going to be as helpful as the customer reps I have dealt with on line.  All of my contact with CC has been on line and on the phone.  There are no places near me that have a CC available so I have no choice but to do it on line but it hasn't been a problem.

Well, boooo! The CC tech didn't show up for work today so no one could help me. I will have to go back but, I am calling first to make sure someone is there!!

Gastro appt. went well, he said my liver is healing but will take time. (Last year after the fall, I gave up all alcohol and that is partially why liver doing better.) There was some marker that is the reason for the MRI's. He ordered it and I will have to call next week to schedule it. If it all looks good he will cut me back to once a year check ups after the next 6 month one. Yay!

He is fine with me taking the meloxicam just watch for bleeding in the stomach. Will show up as black stools (yeah gross, I know). He said it is better than Advil for my purposes.

We had a nice chat and he says he is glad I am doing so well! Ironically, he girl friend is a great friend (2nd father. to her) of the guy from Fox Hollow the TNR place. He knows the dr and wife that run it very well. They are great people and so is my Gastro! Small World!

109 this morning.

Yesterday's high was 41° showers on and off. Today's forecast is 53°/37° some showers early and then should clear but rain will be back Sat. afternoon.

Yesterday had its ups and downs. No new phone service sadly another trip to town needed. The good though is some of the weirdness of bg's could be attributed to body's reaction to having given up alcohol completely. Gastro says can take the body around a year to settle down after that.

Quiet day planned for today. The kitties are looking to be fed so better get to it!  ~ cat ~

Snap Barbara, 109 for me also today!  We had a high of 81° yesterday and it is going to be right there through Monday so still warm and quite nice.  There is no chance of any rain predicted for the next few days but I am hoping the predicted El Niño is going to bring rain this Winter.
Bummer that you couldn't get your phone service changed and you have to make another trip.
I quit alcohol over 10 years ago when the doctor I was seeing at that time believed it may have been a factor in my high blood pressure.  I was only having one drink at night after work and it didn't really bother me and it was before I was paying that much attention to my blood sugar then.  I have had maybe one or two beers after that and don't really miss it but it had no effect on my blood pressure and since that my cardiologist has managed to get it under control with medication that doctor didn't seem to be aware of.
I am going to get back to my cleanup that I only made a dent in and hope to get more done today.  It is kind of a tedious job and mostly going through piles of papers and documents to decide what I really need to keep and what to throw out.  Probably most of it needs to be thrown out and the rest filed.

Well huh! I called AT&T to cancel the iPad from my account and the guy said that was an old "grandfathered acct" they don't charge for data overages any more. Said he could get me a better plan w/out the iPad, yeah right I thought!

Well he has, not quite as good as CC but good enough for the time being I will give it a try. I don't have to make a special trip to town to change over. I know CC is still cheaper, but I can do it at my leisure now and not worry about really high bills from AT&T any more.

For $50/mo + taxes ($4-$6) I get unlimited talk, text, and data! Never any charge for overage on data. Which now should not be a problem anyway. I start on billing cycle beginning 11/26 .

I wonder how many there are out there merrily going on paying the high charges I was and not even knowing it??? Guy said anytime you buy and iPad/etc directly from AT&T it automatically comes with cellular which you can deactivate... gosh, wish I had known that! If I ever buy another iPad, I'll get it at Best Buy wireless only!

Kind of getting tired of all these learning experiences lately!!  ~ cat ~

The biochemical fact is that alcohol helps to keep the BG numbers down.

125 this drizzly/some frozen rain morning.

Yesterday's high was 50° it was mostly dry with even some periods of sun! Today's forecast is 48°/39° today is going to be wet again mostly in the morning then some sun then tomorrow another storm. comes through. Sigh, but it is that time of year. It is easier to feed kitties when it is just wet as opposed to frozen bowls from the snow/ice so I can't complain too much.

Yes, skb, I know that alcohol can keep numbers down but when there are other medical things against alcohol use, I just have to. buckle down more on the LC/HF. I had loosened up some but looks like I need to be more careful. I still would like to put about 5 lbs back on and Gastro is following that too, but carb loading is not going to be a good solution I guess.

92 this morning.  We had a high of 82° yesterday and it should be the same today.  Overnight low was 42° so a 40° swing.
Yeah $50 a month with unlimited data is not that bad.  With CC my bill is $26 a month but I have unlimited calling and text but my data is limited to 1 GB per month.  That is the plan I chose as I don't normally use any more than that.  If I wanted unlimited data it would be as high as your AT&T bill.  If you were signing up to AT&T as a new customer it would be a bit higher with unlimited data starting at $65 a month. If I wanted or needed unlimited data I would consider it but CC uses AT&T cell towers so the service is the same but for me it costs less.
