Quote from: walkerwally1 on June 29, 2024, 10:42:40 AMBarbara, that is a lot larger than the lenses I got for my iPhone and probably better but the ones I have are smaller and a lot lighter.  I really don't know if they are any good at all so I really should try them out just to see.

That looks like a great set up! It is going to help you take great pictures. My main goal was the monocular though to check cats ears and watch birds hopefully better than binoculars. The lens attachment was just a bonus that I will also be able to use. It just attaches the phone to the monocular.

Turns out yours and mine both cost the same! Just slightly different main uses. Yours has lots of different lens choices for picture taking where it appears I only have the monocular adjustments to use for photos. End result for both of us is better distant photos!!

116 this morning. Overslept this morning, kitties were already starting to disperse but came back fast when they heard me calling.

78° was the high yesterday. Today's forecast is 75°/50° cloudy with possiible showers in the morning.

Well, I like the monocular, but juggling it with the camera attached for photos is going to take some time to figure out what is he best way to hold it.  So part of today will be spent working on that, then gathering garbage. Later in the day again trying to catch kitten.

101 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 103° again but it is going to get hot over the 4th of July and the weekend, expecting 115° planning on staying inside.
Well, you got the monocular for another reason so it is good for that and using it with your phone is an added feature.  The phone is a handy item to take pictures with and they come out quite good but I also have a Canon DSLR camera with a telephoto lens if I want to get serious about using it.  That is probably why I have never used the lenses for the phone.

I too have a fancy  camera, Sony Cyber Shot, I used for eBay photos when I was doing that full time. I was using it for extreme close ups. I do have all the attachments for distant photos too. It is just a pain getting it out and ready to use, unlike the phone which is always handy.

I do really like the monocular though!

I'm also a 'Canon' guy and have a whole kit of bodies and lenses which have not been used for a long long time now. I'm thinking of disposing the items as I'm not going to be using them anymore.

124 this morning.

Yesterday's high was 72° showers in the morning and cloudy all day. Today's forecast is 73°/50°, sunny, but a possibility of thundershowers in the afternoon.

I'm going up to town today to hopefully get my glasses frames sorted and get what I wanted. I fear I'm going to be told "deal with it" that's the way these frames are, random. Not happy.

Snap Barbara, 124 this morning for me also.  I cheated a bit last night and took a couple of French fries.
Our high yesterday was 103° and it is probably going to be the same today but starting to get hotter for the next few days.
Yeah, the thing about the phone camera is that you can have it in your pocket and it is easy to use it any time you see something you want to take a picture of and it does a very good job of it.
I would not be happy either Barbara if the frames I picked out were not the same as what I was shown.  I hope you get a better result.

120 this morning.

Yesterday's high was 60° with some gusts of wind in the afternoon. Today's forecast is 77°/48° partly cloudy and maybe a shower in the morning.

Unsatisfactory response re glasses, the tech is going to try to see if her rep can get the colors like I tried on for the frames....and then call me. Yeah, um OK for now. Other option is shaving lenses down to fit my 2nd choice of frame that is Purple, no question!

No luck again with the kitten. I guess the 2 kittens weren't enough to draw mama or #3 out. So today back to plain tracking. I did see kitten and mama out side garage last evening, it would be great if it went inside the kitty house and I could just shut the door. It will be easy to catch it by hand inside there.

Interrupted for a  bit here.... to set a trap. I looked out window a couple minutes ago and there was baby and mama again in front of garage! Looks like that is going to be my focus today!

91 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 104° and now it is going to get hotter with 109° predicted for today and pushing to 117° by the 4th and the weekend.  Not unusual for July but hot.  Not a time to be outside so stating in the house.  Thankfully I don't have anything to do this week.

126 this morning.

75° was the hugh yesterday, today's forecast is about the same as yesterday, 74°/46° with some clouds but more sun than yesterday. Cool tomorrow too then a heat wave is coming, by mid next week we may see 102°!! Very high for here! At least everything will be green and damp for the  4th so hopefully no big fires...

Planning a quiet few days of course that can always change... I worry about the 4th and the fireworks scaring the cats. Most have been through them before but for quite a few this will be the first. I just hope the can feel the kitty house is a safe place to hide out.

91 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 107° and it is supposed to get to 113° today and even hotter for the next couple of days.  The trip across the street yesterday to pick up the mail around 3:00 PM was not fun so I will wait until it gets later and a bit cooler today.
Yeah fireworks are a problem here also.  Too many are setting off illegal fireworks but law enforcement can't really do anything about it. The poor dog will be hiding under my desk.
Tomorrow will be the 5 year anniversary of the 6.4 Ridgecrest earthquake and the next day we had a 7.1 earthquake.  It was quite a wild ride but we had no damage at our house but the Military base had several million dollars of damage.  A couple of buildings in town like the bowling alley and the theater were damaged bad enough that it was not worth repairing so they are gone now.

109 this morning.

Yesterday's high was 75° today begins the slow warming trend with a 82°/47°. They have dropped the highest we'll go now to 99° by next week, not much different from 102°, but I'll take it.

Had the first of the fireworks last night, thankfully those were further away from me and they had the grace to stop just after 11PM. Tonight I know it is going to be much louder/closer/and longer with all the lights in the sky.  And of course there will be the encore on Friday and probably Saturday too. The regulations are they are supposed to stop 2 days after the 4th. I hope for once they will!!

Not even going totry to catch the kitten until the fireworks are completely done. No need to stress it any more than it will already be.

Looks to be a lovely day and I plan to just enjoy it and not do much of anything!!

Happy 4th!!

103 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 111° and it is supposed to be the same today.  It is hot all over the Southern California area and it will be for the next few days.  I waited until 8:00 PM to go out and get the mail and it was still hot but not too bad.  I am amazed that I used to work outside in this heat, don't think I would be able to do it now.
Not planning much for today, BIL is in Bullhead, Arizona right now so I am just going to have a BBQ for myself.  I am surprised but so far there have not been any fireworks. Probably there will be tonight but that is expected.

98 this morning.

Yesterday's high was 78°, today's forecast is 85°/50°  and sunny. It is supposed to be getting even warmer next week.

Awakened at about 4:45AM to an earthquake shaking the house. Looked it up and it was 4:46am, 3.9 magnitude, epicenter Seeley Lake about 80 miles by road from me. Pretty small by most standards and no damage but it is always unsettling having been through some big ones in CA!

Fireworks seemed less this year which was OK by me! My neighbor across the dirt road decided to wait to start his until about 11PM. Big flares lit up everything took him about an hour to finish then all was quiet. Hope there isn't too much tonight. The cats for the most part took the bomb type fairly well. It was too dark to see how they were with the fireworks kind but I did see a bunch sitting outside the garage when I went to bed.

Hoping for a quiet day and night today!

94 this morning.  Our high was 113° yesterday and it is supposed to get to 115° today.  Heading to maybe 119° by Sunday. ~hot~
They are expecting 130° in Death Valley and maybe even higher and that is not that far from here, about an hours drive. It should start cooling down a bit after Sunday but still in the 100+ degree range.
The fireworks were many and loud starting around 8:00 PM and lasting until about midnight.  The poor dog was taking it hard and would not leave my side.  Although "safe and sane" fireworks are legal there were tons of illegal fireworks with many sky burst rockets set off and that is scary because of the fire danger but dummies will never pay attention.  Although they are illegal there is no enforcement and no tickets handed out.  It is like the police take the night off.  Oh well, it should be over until New Years.
