113 this morning.

82° was the high yesterday. A very nice day. today's forecast is 87°/52° the warming begins. Next week is going to be hot for here!!

Just a few booms last night, so hopefully we're done until New Year's.

Still have that sweet kitten to catch. Mama and baby came out to eat in the evening yesterday but very skittish and when they saw me in the doorway, they ran off. The longer this kitten stays out, the more feral it will become. I want it to be able to go to a real home, not back here...

102 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 113° again so we are running about 2° below the prediction so they are saying 117° for today so probably 115°, whew!  Thank goodness for the AC.
Yeah, just a couple of booms last night.  I can't imagine how much money was spent by people nearby that set off tons of fireworks that went on for over 4 hours.  I know a lot of them are smuggled in from Mexico so cheaper and illegal but still!

I know! All that expense for something you were just going to destroy never made any sense to me. Might just as well stand in the yard and burn a pile of money. Sparklers for the kids sure, but the professional shows are so amazing, why not go see them for free(?) and spend that money on something tangible.

119 this morning.

81° was the high yesterday. Today's forecast is 90°/53°. Oh boy! We are under a Heat Advisory from Tuesday afternoon through 12AM next Saturday. Nothing close to your temps Wally, but at 100° high for here. I will welcome the new A/C for sure!

Heard some awful animal cries around 3AM last night. Worried a mtn lion was around, went out on the deck but there was nothing I could/be safe doing at that point so went back to bed. Haven't walked the property to see if anything is amiss, but most of the kitties were there for breakfast. Only missed a couple but they are often late comers. Scary.

My friend is coming over and we are going to try to rig up a way to pull the garage door closed when baby kitten goes in to eat. The traps just aren't going to work any more now that it knows food is in the garage. Something has to work to get this little guy!

Need to get all the garbage collected today because I have to go out early tomorrow for labs in preparation for Tues pcp appt, (not the medicare one!) and I want to put it out then. I don't want to have to go out again once I get back from that!

97 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 115° and it is going to be the same today, maybe cooling down just a bit starting tomorrow but not much.  High in Death Valley yesterday was 129° so not an all time record but getting close.  All of Southern California is under a heat wave and it is in the hundreds even in Los Angeles.  Going out early in the day isn't much help as it is 95° at 5:00 AM so inside it is. One of the things I loved about living on the mountain is that we sometimes could get to 100° during the day but it always cooled down in the evening and you could open the windows and let the cool air in. That isn't an option here so thank goodness for AC.

Most years here is does cool down enough at night to open up and cool off the house. Even though I am in a valley I am further enough North that the nights cool more than they did in CA. But with this unusual, for here heat wave I doubt that will be the case, so yes, thank goodness for my brand new A/C!

Awful would most likely be a member of the cat family. They make all sorts of funny noises. Possibly a Mountain lion. I'm not aware of the wild life in your area, so yes it could be.

Well, fortunately, I didn't wake up to a bunch of dead/mangled cats this morning. As far as I can tell everyone is home safe, so I am assuming it was just a loud group cat fight. They have never fought like that before so maybe an interloper trying for the food.

108 this morning.

83° was the high yesterday. Today's forecast is 94°/56° and sunny. I think today is going to be the first time I use the A/C!

Labs in a couple hours, garbage in can as I leave, a quick grocery run and then home and probably inside the rest of the day. Fed the cats early ~6:30am, I expect they will be in shady places most of the day. The garage is really cool inside, maybe they will figure out that is the best place to be!

103 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 116° and we are going to be right about there for the rest of the week.  It is supposed to start cooling down just a bit next week maybe getting down to the 108-107° range which is where the swamp cooler can handle it.
I have a dentist appointment tomorrow to start the deep cleaning but they didn't renew my prescription for the pre med I have to take for any dental work because of the heart valve so I need to have that before the appointment but they are closed on Monday so I may have to cancel the appointment but sometimes they have some there so I will call when they open and see what they want me to do.  The heart valve is subject to infection with dental work so the pre-med is Amoxicillin and my cardiologist wants me to use it with any dental work.

If it was within the group it could be a mating mayhem. That's usually very fierce and aggressive, with cats.

No mating urges here all the cats (save wee kitten) male and female have been fixed. No "scents" here to attract an intact male!

108 this morning.

85° was the high yesterday, by evening it was still in the 80's inside. Today's forecast is 94°/56°. I have already gotten the A/C settings programmed in and will be using it today. If only I had A/C in my car!!

Pcp appt this afternoon for yearly check up. I need to get the Medicare questionnaire filled out so I can drop it off today for next month's Medicare Wellness Visit.

Nothing else on agenda except maybe taking a go at catching kitten this evening. That is the only time of day it is most out and about.

101 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 116° again and it looks like it will be there until the weekend when it should cool down a bit.
I got my prescription for the pre-med yesterday so good to go for the dental appt. this morning.

Yeah Barbara, I know that they have to follow Medicare requirements for the annual wellness exam but having to fill out the questionnaire seems silly then they ask you all of the same questions at the exam.
