Yeah totally agree. Plus every time I see my pcp I get and abbreviated form of the same questions to fill out before I see the dr.! Annoying.

I have a question for you, you. probably don't remember, but if you do what were the 4 words they asked you to remeber? I meant to ask sooner but forgot (oops!). I' was thinking about them and wondered if each year they are the same everywhere or if the individual dr made them up.  I know usless info but I was just curious...

107 this morning.

89° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 100°/61°! Fortunately I don't have to go anywhere today!

What a glorious thing is central A/C!!!  I used mine for the first time yesterday and was in awe of how it kept the whole house cool!! In a twisted way I am glad my furnace broke down last Winter enabling me to make the decision to add A/C. I would be miserable now if I hadn't! The drive to my pcp with no A/C in my car was bad enough!

Tomorrow I have to go up to town to hand dr and to look at the frames the Optical center found for me. Going to be an awful trip up and back!!

New A1c is 6.8 which isn't good, still working on that, but much better than the last one 6 months ago,7.6!!

104 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 116° again and probably the same today but it should be cooling down just a bit by the weekend, still in the 108-110° range though.  We couldn't do well without the air conditioning here in the Summer and I am glad that I have it in my car.
Dentist appointment went pretty well yesterday and I got the upper teeth deep cleaned and next week the lower.  If it helps to keep the teeth I have left it is worth it.  I was able to find a place to park in the shade there and that is huge with this heat.
Barbara, the questions they ask are different each time and it is a cognitive test to see if you can remember them.  It isn't anything to worry about but if you seem to be having trouble it could mean that it would be worthwhile to have additional testing.  When I had my heart valve replacement done it was a trial and I went through follow up testing every three months with a CT scan, electrocardiogram, blood work and an extensive cognitive test that included the same remembering words, counting backwards, listing the presidents from present back as far as I could given by a specialist and I asked him what this had to do with a heart valve replacement? He said that since it was a trial it was something that some people had trouble with after a valve replacement and this was part of the trial.  It seems weird but remembering 4 words seems pretty easy after that but I am also part of a wellness program that is offered by my hospital and a representative calls me every 3 months to go over how I am doing and also has a list of things she gives me to repeat later to dee how well I do at remembering them.  I still remember the three things last month, sky, lemon, bed!  I just try to do an association and it sticks pretty well.  I guess they are looking for early signs of dementia but not remembering three, or four words is not a diagnosis but just a reason for further testing.

Oh, I know they are looking for any early signs of dementia. And it is no big deal as far as that goes. I was just musing one day whether the words were generated each year by Medicare or individually by the dr. Just some random thought that drifted by one day...

It is interesting that cognitive abilities could be affected by the valve replacement. I. do understand all the medical tests. I don't know how far back. I could name the Presidents, guess I'll give myself a little test!

104 this morning.

Yesterday's high was 90°. Today's forecast is 98°/56°. It was already 53° when I went out to feed the cats at 6:30!

I dread the drive to town today as it will be unbearable in my car! I think I'm going to try to get out really early and go to look at frames before hand Dr appointment. Hopefully she'll have the frames I like and can switch the lenses quickly enough for me to get to the dr. To make matters worse the two places are on opposite sides of town. It is supposed to be over 100° up there.  ~sad~

After today, I have no more appts the rest of the month (fingers crossed). and will stay put right here in the cool. Well maybe a grocery/PO run or two.

86 this morning, salad for dinner!  Our high yesterday was 114° and it is supposed to be the same today. Looking for some cooling next week but still over 100° but that is normal here.
I have more appointments this month so getting out in the heat is necessary but I do have AC in my car so it helps.  The worst thing is parking my car out in the heat and coming back into it after an appointment.  It is so hot it takes a long time for the AC to overcome it and the steering wheel is so hot it is almost impossible to hold on to it.  I have gloves in the car to be able to drive until the AC brings the temp down.
Yeah Barbara I guess I got a bit long winded in my reply.  I think the questions are probably just made up from the doctor. It doesn't matter what they are it's just to see if you can remember them.  It's not much of a cognitive test but I guess it satisfies Medicare.

No problem re your response at all! I hadn't realized all you had to go through after your valve replacement. More years ago than I can remember, my mom had a pig valve replacement, I don't remember any after testing than just check ups. I don't know when they started using pig valves, but she may have been early on in the procedure. (quick google 1965 first one done) My mom probably had hers around 1970.

I know you probably explained it to us when you first had it done, but I don't recall details. What was experimental about your valve?

103 this morning.

89° was the high here at home yesterday, up in town it was well into the. 90's! Today's forecast is 96°/56°. The forecasts seem to be a bit higher than I actually have. But I do have an unusual location having flowing water on two side of the house.

Later to post as I wanted too get some things cleaned up for the cats outside before it got hot. I think the rest of the day I will be just staying in where it is cool. Maybe a little Amazon shopping....  ~ cat ~

I finally got the glasses I am happy with. They aren't the original ones I had. The 4 examples the tech brought out were almost exactly like the ones I got, heavy on the brown. So I went with what was my second choice which are absolutely purple!!  They shaved the lenses a bit to fit and I was on my way in about 30 minutes!! Lesson learned...if I choose a tortoiseshell style ever again, I will insist on the pair I tried on right then and there!

107 this morning. our high yesterday was 115° and it is going to be the same today but looking for it to cool down a bit over the weekend and next week.

Barbara, when I had my heart valve replaced it was by a method called trans catheter which the valve is inside a device like a stent and it is inserted into the artery near your groin and it is run up the aortic artery into the existing valve then expanded and takes over for the old valve.  Really quite impressive and at that time it was not approved for anyone unless they were not healthy for open heart surgery which was still the usual method.  I was too young and healthy at that time but my cardiologist was friends with the doctor at Cedars-Sinai hospital that was working with Medtronic on a trial to get their valve replacement approved and I was able to get in the trial for my replacement. Because of that I was required to have follow up testing and went to Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles several times to see how it was affecting me and how I was doing.  I had echo cardiograms, CT scans, blood work, how well I was at walking and the cognitive test was part of it.  I asked the doctor doing the cognitive testing what that had to do with a valve replacement and he said that there was a slight chance that the procedure may have an affect but it was just part of the trial.  Now that the procedure has been approved it is the way most valve replacements are done now. It is so much better than having to go through open heart surgery.  My procedure was on Friday and went home on Sunday!

Thanks Wally. I remember you shared all that, but just didn't remember in detail. It is truly amazing all the advances they have made in these procedures in just our lifetime!! My mom's was done open heart surgery, and she was already really at risk having had several heart attacks due to having Rheumatic Fever in childhood.

108 this morning.

Yesterday's high was 86°. Wunderground says it was 99° guess their station is not near me! Today's forecast is 98°/56°. This heat is going to be around for a while! Now the fire danger is a real concern.

Today feels like a good day to do some tiding and organizing the piles of paper I have everywhere. Maybe a small laundry early before it gets too hot. I am so enjoying my A/C!!

107 this morning.  Late to the party this morning, I got sidetracked started doing some things I had been putting off for a while. I got a new dash cam for my car and was trying to get it installed and connected to my phone, took longer than I thought but I needed to do it in my car and wanted to get it done before it got too hot.
Our high was 114° yesterday but it is supposed to start cooling down a bit starting today so we may be below 110° and yeah that is still hot but better.

114 this morning.

88° was the high here yesterday, today's forecast is 94°/55°  At least it will be partly cloudy so that should help some.

Again my goal today is to try to catch the kitten. The appt at TNR is the 17th running out of time to get it fixed. Other than that gather garbage and mundane chores around the house.

87 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 110° and in the afternoon the clouds rolled in and we had a lot of thunder and lightening but only a few sprinkles here.  The thunder was pretty loud at times so the dog spent a lot of time under my desk, her hidey hole when scared.

111. this morning.

87°was the high yesterday. Today's forecast is 94°/52°. So far I haven't hit the forecast # yet, an that is just fine!

Decided that since it was cooler yesterday I'd make a quick run up to town to Target. I had bought a pair of sandals there when I was there Thursday and they are so comfy I wanted to get the other colors while they still had them. Got 2 more pairs (only $15 ea) and I would have gotten the black ones too only they were already sold out! Glad I went!

Garbage to the road and a quick run to pick up mail at PO and get more yogurt at the grocery next door to it. That is the only place anywhere I've checked that carries that brand.

Other than that it is kitten patrol. Just missed it yesterday. The 17th is coming soon!
