110 this morning.

Yesterday's high was 79° a few drizzles and thunder but otherwise fairly nice day. Today is very foggy (maybe smoke too) so far today. Predicted temp 82°/52° and mostly sunny.

Only thing on agenda today is a last laundry, that I didn't get to yesterday, before surgery.

I got the diabetic shoes yesterday. Not that happy with them. They are huge for one I thought it was just Wide but turns out they are Extra Wide!! Should have paid more attention. I wouldn't wear them out but they will be great for wearing in the house instead of always going barefoot. I'll wait for the true sized ones from the Podiatrist!

109 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 111° again and it is supposed to be the same today and through the weekend but cooling down next week.  My phone went off last night at 9:00 PM with an "alert" that an earthquake was detected. I never had that before but there was an earthquake about 70 miles away but we felt nothing here.  It was a 5.2 earthquake with no damage so just another shake that we are used to but the "alert" was something I had not heard before.  If there was an earthquake nearby I would feel it before the alert anyway.
The "Park Fire" in Northern California is now the largest active fire in the state and is at 415,000 acres and only 34% contained.  Over 636 structures destroyed which includes homes and other buildings.  Sadly it was caused by arson but thankfully no injuries or loss of life yet.

100 this morning.

78° was the high yesterday, very overcast all day. Today's forecast is 82°/53° mostly sunny. I'm glad it has cooled down some finally!

I can feel the nervousness starting to build even though I know exactly what to expect and how the outcome will go. But still nervous..... I have to be there at 6:15AM tomorrow morning a tiny bit later than last time. I have to get up earlier than usual and shower with Hibeclens then scrub my hand for 5 minutes with a surgical medicated scrub brush.  Sheese, when I get there they scrub my hand again...

Afterwards my friend, her husband and I are going for pizza at a place she claims is fantastic! I can't even remember the last time I went out to eat! Probably 2019, the last time I went to CA to visit family...

Today I am just going to take it easy.

85 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 111° again.  It looks like we are in kind of a rut but it may cool down a bit by next week.
Yeah Barbra, I know it is normal to be kind of nervous before any surgery but you will do fine.  I hope you do enjoy going out for lunch, it is nice to get to do it once in a while.  Don't worry about the carbs and just enjoy it.

Thanks Wally! Carbs?...what carbs??? Last thing on my mind for tomorrow. considering it will be both my breakfast (I have to fast from midnight thurs before surgery) and lunch. And depending on when I get released, and when we get to the place, it may end up being dinner too!!

So I might even eat 2 pieces!  ~ cat ~   ~ cat ~

104 this morning around 4:45 AM.

Home from surgery around 11 AM. It went well. They gave me a little more pain meds, hand is still numb, A little more bleeding this time. Turns out Meloxicam is also a blood thinner! No one ever told me that! It will be a couple days before I can use that hand enough to see how it really feels, I expect good results just like before. Really tired, probably won't post more now. Maybe later.

Plan for today is rest and keep my hand above my heart!

My friend wasn't feeling well, so no pizza today. :(

Thanks! Its taking a long time for the numbness to go away. My thumb is still pretty numb . Just a quick post...I'm off to bed, I'm worn out. The numbness should all be gone by morning, I hope!

102 this morning.  We got to 111° again yesterday. I think that is 5 days in a row at the same exact high and it is supposed to be the same today but cooling a bit next week.
Sorry you missed the pizza Barbara. For me it is a great treat to have a meal out as i never do it around home.  Next Tuesday I have to go back for another MRI because they messed up the one I had done last month.  I am not too happy about that but then it will mean a stop as In 'n Out for burgers!

103 this morning.  Slept late and hand has me moving slower than usual.

80° was the high yesterday, a nice day. Today's forecast is 83°/52° another pleasant day.

Yeah I kind of missed the pizza but my friend has an occulded artery near her brain and has to take it really easy. That clot breaks and it could kill her. (Her hubby drove us to dr.) They are treating her with aspirin in hopes of the clot slowly breaking and the aspirin disolving the bits. She has lots of restrictions on what she can do but still wants to get out once in a while. Pizza was going to be a treat for her too!

My hand is very bruised and obviously sore but at least the numbness is finally gone. These first few weeks are uncomfortable, but in the end it will be great to have 2 fully functioning hands again!!

Yay for another In 'n Out meal!! I've only had them a few times but man oh man, ar those burgers good!!

Sorry for your friend but hopefully it is OK. I had what is called a "mini stroke" a while back and it was a strange experience.  My BIL came into my room and asked me a question and I tried to answer and couldn't get words out and tried to stand and couldn't do that either.  It lasted a couple of minutes then was back to normal. I had an appointment with my cardiologist the next day and told him about it and he said it was caused by a small clot that comes from the heart and is usually caused by A-Fib or tachycardia.  I don't have tachycardia but I have had Holter monitors that have shown tachycardia so that may be the cause.  He has given me a prescription for Eliquis which is a blood thinner designed for this type of clot.  I have not had another episode since so I hope this is a remedy.
Larger clots that come from the lung are apparently more dangerous and that is why they want to dissolve them slowly as I understand it.

Apparently her artery occluded slowly, which isn't exactly normal. Had it done so quickly as is normally the case, death results right away. Her neurologist said had it happened in the normal fashion, she would be dead now! Yikes! She has good days and bad days but has passed the 6 week mark which is very good. It is very scary, but she is trying to take it in stride and not give in to fear. Each milestone she passes, 1 week, 6 weeks, 3 months etc give hope that the clot is slowly being dissolved and will clear the artery.

This apparently doesn't normally happen to people her age, it is usually in much younger adults. I can't imagine being in her situation. I wish I could do something, but I am praying for her everyday.

105 this morning,

76° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 85°/51° sunny but the smoke is going to be back from all directions so being outside is not going to be pleasant.

The numbness in my hand was gone in the morning so I was able to use that hand a bit more than on Friday. It is still very tender so I will be using it with caution and only when absolutely necessary.

93 this morning. Our high yesterday was 110° so only 1° cooler but starting to cool down a bit and next week we should be only around 100° which is not bad here in August.
Late to the party this morning, I got sidetracked and was cleaning my shower that has needed it for a while.
Yeah I guess praying for your friend is all you can do but the longer it goes the better it is.
