99 this morning.

80° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 81°/50° and sunny.

Another big storm blew through last night, took down another limb from the Finnish Dogwood in front, blew all the cardboard cat houses all over and blew the two seater metal framed lawn off my deck!! This wind was nothing like what we just recently had but I guess just came from the right direction to do more damage!

I am afraid one of my incisions may be infected. It is swollen, red, and tender. I have a call into my hand dr to see what he thinks. Friday is his surgery day so I may have to see a different dr in the practice if I need to go in. Maybe just an antibiotic will do it and maybe I can just email a photo of it to save driving up to town. sigh...

ETA: Just got a call from dr office. they said go into their Urgent Care to have it looked at. Probably just need oral antibiotic.  So to townI go...

105 this morning.

Yesterday's high was 76° and sunny. Today's forecast is 88°/55° again sunny.

I learned a new weather fact. The storm that passed through Thursday night with winds around 55mph had something called a:

Gustnado (or Gustinado) - A gustnado is a small, whirlwind which forms as an eddy in thunderstorm outflows. They do not connect with any cloud-base rotation and are not tornadoes. Since their origin is associated with cumuliform clouds, gustnadoes will be classified as Thunderstorm Wind events. Like dust devils, some stronger gustnadoes can cause damage.

People in the town just North of me reported tornadoes, and I too noticed the swirling of the winds here too. That is what picked up the cardboard boxes and probably the swing too. The weather man researched and found out about the gustnado. Looks like a tornado but more like a dust devil. Man the weather has really been out of control this Summer!!

98 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 103° and it is supposed to be the same today so staying about the same this week.
I got a call from the urologist yesterday and he said the MRI showed nothing and all is good so pretty happy about that. It was an ordeal to finally get it done but like he said it was for peace of mind.
You have had more weather than I have had Barbara.  Here it has just been a normal hot and nothing exciting.  There have been a couple of earthquakes near the Los Angeles area and they were not that big but you would have thought that it was the end of the world the way the news hyped it up.  No damage and no injuries and yeah, we are in earthquake territory people!

That's great news, Wally. Surely that gives a lot of peace of mind.

109 this morning.

Yesterday it was 79°, today's forecast is for 90°/53° sunny but again the chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. I hope they miss me this time!!

I need to do some chores but my hand is really bothering me today so I don't know how much I will get done. This hand has sure been more difficult than my right hand! Right from the get go with much more bruising all over my hand to now with infection. If I had done this one first, I might have not done the other at all!!

Yes it does. He was not alarmed by the fact that my PSA levels were higher but felt that it was a good thing to have the MRI to be more confident. It does help to have it done. Like all cancers early detection is the key to effective treatment. About 40 years ago one of the executives that worked for the company I was with was diagnosed with prostrate cancer and I don't know if there was even a PSA test then but by the time they found out he had it he was dead within about two months and that has stuck with me.

98 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 99° so the first time in quite a while we were below 100°, not by much but still a sign.  It will be a couple of degrees warmer tomorrow and Tuesday but there are more days under 100° coming up.
Sorry you are having problems with your hand Barbara. Hopefully it will get better soon and you will have full use of it again.

I found this interesting:
study

I am on the mailing list for Peter Attia and he had this on it today.
My cardiologist keeps a pretty close watch on my arteries and I have had a CT scan that showed that my coronary arteries are pretty clear of build up and it was quite interesting as he had a video he showed me that actually shows going down the arteries from the inside like a movie. Quite an unreal thing that was not possible even a short time ago.

112 this morning.

84° was the high yesterday. Another thunderstorm ran through yesterday early evening. Pouring rain and very windy. Today's forecast is 87°/54° again sunny with thunderstorms in afternoon and evening. Sheesh, you'd think this was the midwest! Long ago when I visited family in WI in the summer, every day was like this, sunny, T-storms afternoon then nice again in the evening. This is not common for here at all!

Hand started oozing last evening so bandaged it and this morning one pocket of pus is pretty much drained but a new one at the other end of the the incision appeared. It is still sore.
Waiting for call from dr's nurse.

Garbage up to the road is all that is on the agenda for today. I suppose since their has been some draining on my hand I could wait for an appointment for tomorrow. No way will I accept waiting until Thursday though.

107 this morning. Our high yesterday was 99° again but it is going to warm up a bit today and tomorrow then cool back down for the rest of the week.
Tonight there will be a "Super Blue Moon" and the moon will be seen at the closest it gets to earth so looking larger and the "blue Moon" is when there are 4 full moons in a season. Kind of interesting and the full moon will be quite lovely but I will not be up late enough to really see it.
I hope you get some relief from your hand Barbara.

The Dr's nurse called me back not long after I posted. Scheduled me for tomorrow morning as dr is in surgery today.  She sent me a link to use to get directly to the message part of the portal so I could send my photos to the dr.  She will show them to dr and he may up my Keflex to 4 a day vs 2 a day the Urgent Care PA prescribe for me. She will call me back after dr sees the photos. So much easier talking to a person! Some of these new fangled systems/portals are just a bit too complicated for me to even try using.

At least some resolution is in sight now!

Yes, I am seeing the dr tomorrow at 11AM. Also he upped my Keflex to 4X a day for 7 days making it 2,000mg/day.

122 this morning.

I guess the infection finally began to raise my bg some but hopefully now that the Keflex is in full force hopefully I'll get back down to where I had worked so hard to get to recently.

My hand actually does look marginally better this morning. The biggest pocket of pus has dained and the smaller ones haven't gotten any larger. That seems to be a good sign. Dr appt at 11:30 this morning, I don't know if he will take the stitches out or not. I'll just have to wait and see what he thinks. This was the time they came out on my right hand, but there were no problems with those incisions.

While I'm in town I want to run into one grocery that carries a few things I can't get here in town. Then home and more resting!
