134 very early this morning. I am pretty sure stress contributed to that number.

Thanks Wally! All went well, it was not nearly as bad as I had feared. Still have gauze on under the shield. It comes off at 6PM then just the shield rest of the night and then just nighttime for a week. Of course the drops x4 a day...

52° was the high yesterday and windy, overnight a dusting of snow. Today's forecast is 43°/30°.

Super !  Glad it went well.  I was sure it would not be as bad as you imagined but I do understand your trepidation.  I don't remember how long I wore the shield but it seems that it was only one day and night.  It is to keep you from accidentally poking your eye before it is healed.  I think I decided that I wouldn't and took it off the next day although that was maybe not wise but I didn't have a problem so lucky I guess.  I will be interested to hear how much change you see after you get the patch off.

My instructions were to take the patch off after 6 hours then put in drops 3x rest of the day. Wear the shield 24 hours then just at night for one week. I think it is going to take a day to really see the improvement, what I can see through the shield does seem much better.

Great going Barbara. In a week you will be happy that you went through this.

I don't know how I am doing BG wise, but I wouldn't be too happy with the numbers, that's for sure.

148 this sunny morning. Don't know where that came from as I hardly ate anything yesterday.

Eye feels much better today. Yesterday it felt like I had a giant grain of sand under my lid but the artificial tears helped a lot. Shield will come off for the day in about an hour. I think that is going to feel really good. Today is going to be another take it easy day.

48° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 52°/27° and clear.

86 this morning.  We got to 91° yesterday and it is supposed to be the same through Saturday then start to cool and Tuesday is supposed to be 66°, quite a drop but no moisture in sight.
Wow, you are up early Barbara.  Yeah, they want you to wear the shield at night so you don't accidentally poke your eye until it is healed.  It's been over 10 years since I had mine done so I don't remember a lot.  I don't know what kind of lens you got, mine is corrected for distance vision and I need to wear glasses for reading but I understand that newer lenses correct for distance and close vision.  If you need to get glasses for reading, in case you didn't know, Medicare will pay for an eye exam and glasses one time after a lens replacement but you don't want to do that until you have the other eye done.  It is a one time thing with Medicare.

Yeah, it was early for me Wally!! I was just anxious to get the tears in and then the shield off. What a relief! Not sure I want to do right eye on the 19th, may wait a month. Vision is much better just a little blurry still but I assume it will clear more in the next few days as it heals.

Good to know about the glasses, but I doubt Medicare would cover the "extras" I usually get. I don't mind paying for them myself if needs be.

The info I got was that the lense was Standard. The dr said I would still need my glasses, which is fine I've worn them for years.

yeah, it was about a month after the first eye that I got the second one done.  Medicare may not pay for the extras but it is worth checking with your optometrist about what is covered, I know they pay for the exam.

Since dx'd with diabetes Medicare pays for my exams and I have always paid out of pocket for my glasses. I don't really have a problem going that route. Eye much better today! :)

That's great news Barbara. It will get better every day.

I'll be travelling for the next few days so may not be able to connect as well but I will try to log in from time to time.

94 this morning.  We got to 86° yesterday and it is supposed to get to 90° today.  There is a heat wave over all of Southern California and of course there is a danger of wild fires.  They are expecting a chance of rain on the coast next week but dry as usual here.
Glad you are doing well Barbara. Yeah that's right, Medicare does pay for my exams also.  I do have insurance that is part of my retirement benefit that pays for some of the cost of frames and lenses and I pay the difference.

129 this sunny. morning. Man, my internal clock is so messed up from that really early morning Tuesday!!

Eye feels pretty good, afraid I am going to run out of the special drops before the week is out though. Guess I will have to decide if I need a refill by tomorrow.

52° was the high yesterday, the forecast for today is 63°/21° and clear.

94 this morning.  We got to 89° yesterday and it should be about the same today.  There is a front going through starting Monday so the temps will drop and it will be windy.
I went to Walmart yesterday and used the curbside pickup which is pretty easy for me to do but trying to carry the stuff into the house is hard and I am paying for it this morning.  I need to call and make an appointment with the Orthopedist, he said after my last appointment to see how I did for a couple of weeks and make another appointment.  I don't know what can be done from here so I guess I will just have to see.
SKB said he will be on the road for a few days so I guess it is just you and me Barbara.

114 this partly cloudy morning. Hopefully bg is starting to drop back towards "normal".

60° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 69°/28° with a small chance of rain.

Yeah Wally, it is getting kind of thin here...
