109 this morning.

62° was the high yesterday.  Today's forecast is 65°/29° partly cloudy. It was already 58° when I went out to feed the kitties this morning. I wasn't expecting that!!

Busy day yesterday and I was exhausted by the time I got home. I think I made a good connection with the gal with the Crystal store so hopefully I can off load some of my inventory.

My bug bite on my arm is still swollen and red but somewhat better. skb's suggestion of large doses of VitC seems to be helping. The Witch Hazel is keeping the itching down so it is bearable. No idea what bit me...

ETA: Hope you get some answers about your hand! My hand surgeon had a poster on his wall that had hand molds of many famous people from artists, athletes, musicians and famous people. It was fascinating to see just the hands and realize part of why they were so good at their various occupations. I wish I had asked him where he got it!

So, I must tell you where this is coming from from. There are 2 doctors who are advocates of regular high dose Vit C as humans do not on make their own. These are Dr. Pauling and Dr. Rath. Back in the day while I was researching the subject, I found an article by another doctor (forgot his name) who used to take high dose Vit C by IV and was monitoring his blood sample every few hours to check the levels and absorption. One day he got bit by a spider on his thigh and developed a swelling just like yours. He was amazed to see that for the next 5 days, all of his injected Vit C just disappeared without a trace till the venom from the spider was fully gone from his system.
I am a big believer in the benefits of Vit C and make my own liposomal concoction. But I take only about 1 gm every day. Pauling used to take 18 gms.

It is really funny because I was aware of Dr. Pauling's studies years ago but at first wasn't making a connection with the bite. I was going through in my mind what might take the swelling down and that one night, when I went to bed, all of a sudden it hit me VitC!!

I do take the Liposomal Vit C (Wally mentioned it a long time ago and I started using it then). I have only been taking 1/2 the recommended dose on the bottle which is 1450mg/day or 2 capsules. So I have upped my dose from one capsule/day to 4/day and I do see improvement.

Do you think I am taking enough? The angry red is just about gone and the swelling is much less, but still very obvious. I look at the bottle and there is a warning about not exceeding the recommended dose, but I know those are mostly to cover their * in case of problem.

A lifetime ago I worked in a health food store and really knew a lot about vitamins/minerals and the healing they can help. But my brain has long ago deleted most of that info for more current stuff to have a place!  ~ cat ~

4 capsules would mean 2900 mg/day from what you say. If I assume 90% delivery that would mean you are getting about 2600mg. Looks fine to me. Though I'm not sure of the efficacy of the product in capsule form. Since these sachets and capsules are not available here, I make my own liposomal Vitamin C. It is in fluid form, more like an eggnog thickness.

113 this morning.

66° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 64°/33° and sunny. It was 28° when I went out to feed the kitties at 7:15am but inside their house (the garage) it was 48°. As long as the days are on the warmer side I think the garage will hold the heat, but when the days get to single digit that may not work. The heater is my next purchase for Kitty House!

Thanks for the info skb, I'll keep taking what I am now for a while. Any chance of getting the recipe for the VitC you make? Would we have the items here? Thanks!  (I'll ask for this in the Veteran's thread so we can take the discussion there.)

No plans for today, but I'm sure something will come up!

86 this morning. Our high yesterday was 105° and it is going to be the same today. It is not going to start cooling until next week. It is hotter than normal for this time of year for most of the West Coast with some areas setting records for October. Wild fire danger is still high for California.

Yeah, I take the Liposomal Vit C capsules I get on Amazon. They claim that it makes it better absorbed by the body and I am not sure how much better than a regular vitamin C tablet is but I figure it can't hurt.

I had the MRI for the lump on my hand yesterday and I am going to see the Dermatologist that ordered it Monday when I have a MOHS surgery so I will ask him about it then.

A Vitamin C tablet like Chewy would deliver only about 30% of the Vitamin C to the body. The balance will be urinated out. A liposomal variety can deliver about 90-95% is what the science says. We can discuss how, if you like.

I'd be interested. If it isn't really ,really technical.

102 this morning. Our high yesterday was 104° and this morning the low was 79°! It is supposed to start cooling down next week but it is going to remain this hot through the week end.
I got a call from the dermatologist about the results from the MRI on my hand and they are finally going to refer me to the hand surgeon so I am looking forward to find out what he has to say about it.
Today is going to be a laundry day. Not really a big thing but it does keep me busy.

106 this morning.

59° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 77°/40° sunny, with chance of showers in the evening and a high wind warning for late afternoon/early evening. Sheesh.....

I suspected they would be sending you to a hand surgeon once they moved on to an MRI. That is a good thing he will be able to deal much better with any issues there than a dermatologist. Hoping it is nothing serious.

Had an uninvited visitor to the kitties' house last night. Raccoons I expect. They ate all the food left in the dishes and then tore them apart and dragged some outside. I use aluminum baking pans for their food as they are cheap to replace. Tonight the door is going to be completely closed with only access through the cat door. I wonder if the raccoons will try going through that? I just hope the cats will!

Grocery run today to replace aluminum pans and pick up a few things and tidy some in kitty house is about all I have planned for today.

110 this morning.

67° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 67°/32°. One site says partly cloudy another says mostly sunny, LOL same thing....  We did have the high winds last evening blew some things around in the yard and more small branches down. On the late news the weather man said after this summer's storms people are very nervous when winds are predicted...ya think??  Glad it isn't just me though!

I get so tense in these high wind episodes I am exhausted the next day. Not much on the agenda for today, a load of laundry, and picking up branches in the yard.

104 this morning. Our high yesterday was 104° again but it is supposed to finally supposed to start cooling down, just a couple of degrees each day but we should get into the low 90s and even into the 80s by the end of next week. For here that would be quite nice.
We do get strong winds here but and I am not a fan but there is rarely any damage and it is pretty safe here but the dust is the biggest problem and it can be pretty bad at times.  It is an annoyance but not worrisome.

You're lucky! Yeah normal winds are one thing, and I don't like even them, but these winds we had this summer were fierce, they took down so many trees there are places still cleaning up after that. And I've never had winds here before that blew heavy furniture off my porch. These are unusual winds that have everyone on edge when high winds hit the forecast. I really hope they are not going to become the norm!

103 this morning. Our high yesterday was 102° and it should be the same today but cooling down a bit next week. It's about time we see some more Fall like weather.
I have a MOHS surgery tomorrow and I have to leave early so I may not post until later in the day.

112 this morning.

Yesterday's high was 60°, today's forecast is 73°/36° and sunny. It was 30° when I went out to feed kitties, their home inside temp was 48° so still much warmer.I'm going to get my pump guy to order me the oil heater as he knows the kind to get as he got one for my pump house. It maintains a set temp and turns off when it get there and back on when it drops lower.

I got side tracked yesterday doing laundry, started sorting Summer clothes and Winter clothes and it turned into another purge of things I really don't need any more. Consequently I didn't get to cleaning up the yard. So it is my project for today.

I had some visitors in my front yard last evening:
