119 this rainy morning.

Yesterday's high was 40° today's forecast is 43°/34° cloudy with showers. We are going to have a rainy few days as a result of the storms out West. I saw video of the Bomb Cyclone in WA and it looked awful. It is simmering down to just rain for us here in MT.

Not much on agenda for today, more shredding and some bookkeeping to see how things are financially before I do my Christmas gift card shopping.

105 this morning. Our high yesterday was 67° and it is supposed to be a bit warmer today at 70° and sunny and clear.

I am not feeling too bad after my fall except for my left hand. I caught it on the walker that was next to the closet and near the bed and cut my little finger and my hand is swollen and really bruised but other than that nothing else hurts. I think that it will be a few days before it heals but it could have been a lot worse.

The "atmospheric river" and the "bomb cyclone" all affected California much further North than here but there is a growing chance of at least a little bit of rain here Monday but it will not be much if any.

120 this morning.

Yesterday's high was 46°, today's forecast is 48°/35° cloudy and rain. Looks to be a dreary day/

Nothing particular on the agenda for today, I have definitely gotten the clear out things bug since I started in the office. I'm getting better at letting things go. The shredding is going to take forever, I really need to do it more regularly in the future!

Hope you are feeling better today Wally.

105 again this morning. Our high yesterday was 70° and it is supposed to be 75° today then we will be on a cooling trend. There is still a small chance of rain early next Monday but probably not much if anything. On the coast they are looking at rain for most of next week but it will be light there.

Thanks for your thoughts, I am getting better each day and my poor hand is really the only thing that is still sore but it has improved a lot. I am a lot more careful now so I guess a lesson learned.

Yeah Barbara I have the same thought every time I get into a "clean up", I need to do this more often before it becomes a drudge but I am guilty of letting things go before the next time.

105 this very foggy morning.

42° was the high yesterday. Today's forecast is 42°/29° cloudy with rain showers in morning and possible snow over night. Probably won't be too much snow here but to the North in the mountains could be inches. I can wait for inches a good long time!!

More of the same inside jobs for today. I made a quick store run yesterday as dry cat food getting low. Chewy doesn't ship until 11/29. Now that it has gotten colder the little birds are pretty much gone and the mice and small critters have gone to ground so the cats are eating more food. With the rain, I didn't want to wait as road was getting pretty muddy already.

82 this morning. Our high yesterday was a warm 77° and it is going to start to cool down with a 70° today then into the 60s for next week. The chance for rain is very low here now and it is not going to be much even on the coast as the biggest rain is going to be farther North.
My iPad died last night and I can't get it to restart no matter what I do. I went through all of the things suggested by apple support with no luck. I tried to see what apple repair would cost and it is more than I can get a refurbished one on Amazon so I am just trying to decide what to do. I do miss it as I use it every day for at least some of the time. Mine is an iPad Air with the M1 chip and only 2 years old so I am pretty bummed about it. It would not be that much more to get the newer model but then my apple pencil and the keyboard I bought would not work with the newer model so I will stay with this model whatever I decide.

Did you get the pink screen of death on your iPad? I got that on my last MacBook Air when it died. That is dead, dead done! I'm thinking I maybe should get a new MacBook Air myself as this is a 2018 model and I sure don't want it to die suddenly. It is current I think with Sonoma 14.7.1 but I'm thinking it is close to time to upgrade to maybe a 15" (this is 13").

Good luck with what ever you decide to do. I had an iPad  mini, but it is so old Apple will only take it to recycle. Besides, all I really use is my laptop and phone so don't see the need for an iPad too.

Is switching to a new laptop as easy as it was for the iphone??

No my iPad would not turn on. I would start then turn right back off. I tried everything that was on the apple support page but it just would not stay on. It is a shame as it is only 2 years old and otherwise in very good condition. I was stunned at the price Apple wanted for a repair. I do use it a lot so I will do something for a replacement but I am not going to get a newer model. The one I have is an iPad Air with the M1 chip and my Apple pencil works with it but will not work with the newer models, thanks Apple. Also I have a keyboard that works with this model and would not work with a newer model. This is the first Apple device I have owned that has ever had a problem so there is that.
Actually the current version for laptops is Sequoia 15.1.1 but I don't know if yours will update to it.  Switching to a new laptop is really pretty easy, just make sure you have it backed up to the cloud and it will import all of your settings or since yours is still working you can just use it to keep all of your same content. That is one thing that Apple makes pretty easy and will walk you through setting up a new item.

103 this morning. Our high yesterday was 72° and it is predicted to be 64° today and there is a chance of some rain tomorrow, 50% so maybe but if so not much. Still it would be nice to get anything.

I found out what was wrong with my iPad, nothing! The problem was with the case I had it in. The cases for this modal are what they call "smart cases". They have a back part that fits into the iPad like a case for a phone then they have a cover that folds over the front. That cover has a magnet that when closed turns off the iPad and turns it on when you open it. It has worked just fine for 2 years but for some reason it would not let the iPad stay on when it started. I just found that out by accident when I took it off and the iPad started to work just fine. I just cut the front cover off and now I have a case without the front cover but all works like it should. Sometimes electronics can be a total frustration.

119 this lightly snowing morning. 29° when I went out to feed the cats about 7:15am.

Yesterday's high was 43° and it was cloudy almost all day. Today's forecast is 41°/20° mostly cloudy with very light snow in the AM. And is was ever so lightly doing just that when I fed the cats!

The crystal lady is coming again tomorrow. She messaged me several times yesterday re some items, if I had them. Then she wanted to come earlier Monday. Nixed that as with the dark mornings I feed the cats a little later and I need my quiet time before she gets here. I don't know whether to broach the total sale to her or wait for her to bring it up again. Given what I know of her finances, I don't know if she could come up with a lump sum or reasonable payments. I am still not 100% on board.  It is stressful thinking about it and I don't need that!!

ETA after reading your post: Glad you got the iPad working. I totally agree re the frustration of electronics. I have somehow lost Siri on my laptop and can't figure out how to turn it back on. I get to the repeat after siri to get my voice recognition and it won't take my voice!!

I noticed that Amazon has some Black Friday deals on MacBooks right now. I don't know how soon you may be thinking of getting a new one but it could be a time to save some. I understand why you would want a 15" as it is your only computer. I got the 13" because I wanted a laptop that was small and light and it is so much easier to travel with than the Windows laptop I used to have although I don't travel now so oh well. My main computer is a desktop and I have a 32" monitor and a second 24" monitor so the laptop is just a backup but I do like it. You may not want to make a purchase now and a 20% savings may not be enough to make a move right now but I thought I would at least let you know they were doing a discount right now as it doesn't happen often.

Hmmm, I'll look at them. My problem is I don't trust my ability to make the switch on my own. I would be afraid I'd mess up something or miss something and it will be gone forever.  That's why I am thinking getting one at Best Buy and having the Geek Squad do the switch is safer for me. They may have some sales too around Christmas. But I will look at Amazon...

Well, I haven't looked but I know Best Buy is having a lot of Black Friday sales also to compete so It is another good place to look. I don't think you would have any problem getting a new MacBook set up and as long as you have your original one you are not going to harm it but if you feel more comfortable having them do the setup and transfer that may be your best option.
