102 this morning. Our high yesterday was 72° and it is supposed to be a bit cooler at 66° today.
They are expecting some rain over on the coast but it is going to be light with a bigger storm expected next week and we may even get something from that.
My appointment with my cardiologist yesterday went well and the Holter showed some spikes, not afib but still he did change one of my prescriptions to help with that. On the plus side my heart valve is doing quite well. I have an appointment for an echocardiogram but it will be next month.

I hope your knee improves Barbara. I have sometimes had my knee buckle and it can cause a fall that I don't want to happen so I use my walker to have handy to prevent falling. I can walk without it but it is my safety feature. I also use my cane often for the same reason and it does the same thing. After breaking my hip I am really wary of falling and don't want to go through that again.

Glad to hear cardiologist appt went well with just a tweak to meds. Also glad valve is fine. Is there a "lifespan" where it might need replacing at some point? I hope not!!  ~ cat ~

Yeah, I've gotten my cane out. The buckle happens so randomly, if I am not carrying something I use the cane.

81 this morning. Our high yesterday was 65° and it is supposed to be a bit warmer today at 68°. They said there was a 70% chance od some rain this morning but as usual nothing happened. It is supposed to be windy though and that will probably happen but it is calm right now.

Well, there is a lifespan for the valve but it is not really known for this one. I was a part of a trial for this valve from Medtronic to get it approved so it was new at that time and it was a 5 year trial so how long it will last is not known but when I was in the process to get approved for the trial I asked what happened when it stopped working and was told that they just inserted another one in the same way. It was not a huge ordeal and the trans catheter method is now the way they are done now as it has passed and been approved. I went into the hospital on Friday and it was done that morning and went home on Sunday.

108 this morning.

33° was the high yesterday, even some sun! Today's forecast is 22°/3° with more snow and to make that worse, winds in the morning.

Shoveling on the agenda, but just the necessary paths. Yesterday I spent 3+ hours, today already 1 hour, so hopefully today's total is closer to 2" as opposed to 4!! The rest of the day I'm moving as little as possible!

86 this morning. Our high yesterday was 69° and it is supposed to be 66° today so pretty much the same. The high that has kept the rain out of the Southern California area has moved out and the "Atmospheric River" is supposed to bring rain to Southern California next week and we may even see some rain here but that will have to be seen.
I did my laundry yesterday, funny how that has become a big event in my day but at least it is done. Today the never ending clean up that never seems to end will be my main "to do".

116 this morning.

Yesterday the high was 26°, today's forecast is 27°/10° cloudy, with some very light snow in the morning. And no snow in forecast for several days! Thank goodness! Hopefully my body can heal in that time!

I have no plans for today at all. Feeding the cats and thawing frozen water bowls is all I am doing today. I got through the morning feeding OK, by the end I could feel my knee, but could still walk un aided.

Just took a long call from my son, no pacing this time. Things are getting complicated (by greed) unfortunately with the inheritance. As I suspected from the very beginning...she wants more than her 25%.  So this is going to drag out goodness knows how long. When it could have been so easy as we first all agreed. :(

QuoteIt appears that the niece has changed her mind (wrt to your earlier post about her). Ideally, you should keep engaging with her and get her back to the earlier position. Maybe there are others that are advising her.

Legally, I am not part of that mess in that my 25% is already vested from my mother's will. I am not an heir in my brother's will. My son is trying to work with her instead of getting lawyers involved that will cost them a lot of money. I hope he is able to convince her not to prolong the process.

116 this morning.

30° was the high yesterday. Today's forecast is 28°/5° and cloudy with maybe a few slight flurries of snow. Then the next three days a cold front is moving in with highs only in the teens and overnights ranging from -5 to -16!! At least not much snow with it, just possible flurries on Monday. I have a dentist appt up in town Tues. that I think I am going to postpone.

Knee is a little better, but I am still going to take it really easy again today, because it is still swollen and stiff. And it is soooo icy outside, I am afraid of falling even with my Yak Trax on my shoes!

99 this morning. Our high yesterday was 66° and it is supposed to be 64° today. It is now predicted for an 80% chance of rain Thursday so we may get something and they are expecting quite a bit of rain in the areas where the fires were and there is worry about runoff and mud slides with a lot of the runoff being toxic.

I got started on cleaning up but will have to do more today.
Today is the Super Bown in the USA and it is a big day for sport fans. I used to have friends that would have a "Super Bowl Party" but don't here and just usually have the game on and kind of watch it and the commercials are always fun to see.

Yeah I remember the days when I lived on the mountain and the snow wasn't that bad but when it turned to ice it became quite treacherous to walk outside. We used to get rock salt at the hardware store and it helped to melt it.

I got some rock salt a few years back and put it on my garage parking pad. I didn't realize that it would eat into the concrete and pit it. One paving block at the base of my steps off the side porch started to crumble. That's when I stopped using the salt. I don't know what it would do to the wood deck where the worst ice is right now.

102 this morning.

30° was the high yesterday a mix of sun and clouds with just a dusting of snow. Today's forecast is 17°/-9° (brrrr!) again mix of sun/clouds w/dusting of snow. One site had the overnight at -16°! I hope that one was wrong!! But we have a couple more days of this arctic air before it warms up a bit.

It is garbage day and my driveway looks like I can make it so I am going to add a couple errands since I will be out. The heated water bowl outside for the cats has died and I really need to replace it before these frigid temps get here so Country store will be first stop then PO and grocery even though I am pretty well stocked, I'd like some fresh veggies.

Knee is better for the rest I've given it, but I fear today will set me back so I am going to cancel dentist appt for tomorrow. I know the long drive in what will undoubtedly be icy roads will not be a good thing to attempt.

Wow, we used it on the concrete and it never had any effect on it so I don't know what the difference is. I don't think it would hurt the wood but I don't have any experience using it on wood so I am not sure.

Snap Barbara, 102 this morning also. Our high yesterday was 62° and it is supposed to be slightly warmer today at 65°. The weather gurus are getting a lot more confident that we will see rain Thursday and now it is at 95% that we will have rain during the day and night so it may happen. I don't think it will be the 1/2 inch predicted but we will see.

I did make headway yesterday on cleaning up and organizing but more to do. I know I should not put it off until it becomes a big job but never learn.

After I wrote that yesterday, I googled rock salt on wood and the answer was a NO. The salt can  leach moisture out of the wood which in the end can weaken the structure. So a no go for salt on the deck. Every year I try to take a "shortcut", making paths. And every year, I end up working harder clearing the old snow than if I had done the whole deck/garage pad the first snow and keep it up from there!! When will I ever learn???
