I wonder why it didn't come floating up when the lake was full. Maybe there was some weight put in the barrel. Identification would also be a problem after so long.

I read an article today, can't remember where/find it now but there is a TV show, The Problem Solver show in Las Vegas is offering a $5,000 reward to divers who find any remaining bodies from Lake Mead.each to any licensed scuba diver that finds another body. It was a Fox News article so I don't know how true it is. They said they didn't want any amateurs as they didn't want anyone else to be hurt.

skb, yeah, pretty sure the barrels were weighted down but the water is so low they are showing on the surface.  One poster said if the water keeps dropping, they could walk out to retrieve the bodies... That is how I found it I remembered who posted that.

Found it!

99 this morning.  Snap with yesterdays high of 99°.  ;D  It is going to be cooler today, around 85° and in the low 70s for a few days with wind every day around 25-35 MPH.
Yeah, back in the 70s and 80s the mob owned many of the casinos.  That is the reason they believe there are probably more bodies to find.  It will be interesting to see what is found.
I forgot to mention my appointment with the ENT doctor about the nodule on my thyroid.  It ended up being a Tele-video appointment which is something I am getting to like a lot when it is not necessary to be in the doctors office for examination.  I don't have a camera attached to my desktop computer so I use my iPad and it works really well.  The biopsy came negative for cancer which is good news but she recommends a 3 month follow up with another ultrasound and maybe another biopsy.  I guess that is a good idea and it is not that much trouble.

108 this mostly cloudy morning.

65° was the high yesterday, showered on and off all day and evening but cumulative rainfall was not that much. Today's forecast is 53°/39° with possibility of a few showers.

Slept much better last night, but still woke up way too early (for me!). Knee is sore again today. I tried icing it last night but didn't see much improvement. Pain patches due on Tuesday, hope they help.

Good news indeed Wally.
The body they found in the barrel, was it fresh ? If it had been in water for long, they would have found only the bones, right ?

Good news Wally! Somehow I missed that when I first read your post.

skb, I have such bad reactions to so many meds/and even some supplements, I just don't take anything extra any more. Fortunately these sleepless nights don't happen that often and I generally recover in a day so I just go with the flow and take it easy the next day. Pretty sure some is stress related and the rest just my body doing it's thing...

103 this morning.  We got to 85° yesterday and it was pretty windy all day and night.  Expecting the same today.  Tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday it is supposed to be 69° and windy all three days then warming up starting Thursday.
SKB, they said the body found was estimated to be killed around 1980 so Yeah, nothing but bones.
Barbara, I came back to my post later to add that.  That is why you missed it the first time.

123 this cloudy morning.

51° was the high yesterday, showers but way under an inch of actual rain. Today's forecast is 49°/34°.

Oh that explains it Wally. Couldn't figure out how I missed the dr results.

Yeah knowing the history of Las Vegas, not surprised that Lake Mead was a great dumping ground for bodies. I won't be surprised if they find more! I expect all the perps are long dead, just hope they can identify any victims they find to give their families some peace.

With today's technology that should be possible. It just may be that the costs for determining the identity may be found to be too high and they might not be interested because of that.

Well, they found more bones today, my guess they will find many more. Looks like a mob dumping ground.

You're right skb, they may not even want to bother identifying the remains...

86 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 74° and really windy all day and night.  It is supposed to be a bit cooler today and right now the wind is just a slight breeze but it is going to pick up later today.
Yeah, Lake Mead and Lake Powel which is further up the Colorado River are the two largest reservoirs in the USA and in 2000 they were both full.  Now both are at 30% of that level.  Such is the state of the drought in the West.
It will be interesting to see how much effort is spent on identifying the remains that have been found.  They say that they determined that the body in the barrel was from 1970-80 by the shoes.  In that case it would be 40-50 years ago.  Maybe they would have missing persons reports from that time and could compare to that but who knows.

102 this sunny morning.

The high yesterday was 51° just a few sprinkles. Today's forecast is 52°/30°. Looks to be a pretty nice day.

Nice visit on phone yesterday with DD. More pressure for me to get vaccinated...sigh. But she is sending me an Air Fryer like she has for Mother's Day and my Birthday. I have been looking at them on Amazon for a while, but just couldn't justify getting one as my toaster oven is only 2-3 years old. She brought it up and asked if I would use it...said yes so she is sending one. Can't wait to try it!

Basically, you only need very little oil if any depending on what you are making. I don't know a whole lot about them, but she loves hers and uses it just about every day. She makes sheet pan meals a lot in it. I can't wait to get it and learn how to use it!

119 this morning, not sure where that came from but oh well.  We had a high of 68° yesterday and windy as expected and should be the same today.  Starting tomorrow we will be warming up and it will be in the high 90s on the weekend.  They are having a late snow in the Northern Sierrea Mountains which is good but nothing to the South.
Tomorrow I am going to have an MRI so maybe it will help with diagnosing my sciatica.  If not I am hoping for a referral to a spine specialist.
We have a toaster oven and an air fryer and use them both.  My BIL loves to do frozen french fries and onion rings in the air fryer and to my detriment they come out great so I cheat once in a while.  Our outdoor grill has two air fryers built in to it so you can grill and air fry at the same time.
