138 this sunny morning. Talk about not knowing where that came from!!! Maybe the pain?

52° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 55°/32°.

Wow! I just put on the Salonpas patch and I think my knee feels better already. Will see how the day goes. They supposedly last 12 hours...will see.

I suppose there will be a little recipe book with the air fryer to get me started. I excited to get this!  DD is a sweetheart!

Quote from: walkerwally1 on May 10, 2022, 10:46:32 AMWe have a toaster oven and an air fryer and use them both.

Being on LCHF we have avoided the air fryer because we use a lot of ghee and (some) oils in our cooking. But I guess, you can still use it to mix and match different items. I eat only twice a day and sometimes worry that my calorie counts are too low. I have run out of virgin coconut oil and need to order some asap.

I just got my air fryer today. Just unpacking it wore me out. Still reading all the directions, but it seems to me you could add the ghee or coconut oil after cooking for the fat content. The thing I have taken is that the air fryer makes thing crispy and crunchy. Maybe you could make a dipping sauce of the ghee or coconut oil?

88 this morning.  We only got to 68° yesterday and it was windy all day and night.  Today is supposed to be 69° but no wind and then tomorrow 80° and in the high 90s on the weekend.
The air fryer is supposed to be like a deep fryer without the oil and many of the recipes are breaded like fried chicken but if you do a Google search for air fryer recipes you will find a lot of items that are not.  It is good for meat, chicken and fish.  You can use a variety of sauces.  It is also good for vegies.  You are not cooking in a vat of boiling oil but you can still apply your ghee or another oil to the food.

123 this sunny morning.

55° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 59°/37°.

By the time I got the air fryer unpacked I was exhausted. Man there was a lot of packing! The shipping box, the inside box the fryer bax was in and then the fryer box, then all the plastic wrapping. I still have to wash all the trays. I read the manual and looked at the videos on Amazon so I think I am ready to give it a try tonight. Thanks for the tip Wally about searching the web for more recipes!

I have 3 errands to run, I'm going to wait one more day and do them tomorrow. Hopefully the patches will have done more good by then. I'm not dreading it as much as before...

Yes, that could be done. Maybe, we'll give it a try sometime.

It is still dark outside (5:45 am) and daylight is maybe 20 minutes away. The temperature is showing at 29oC or 85oF. Another month of this heat.

I went to India in late September early October. I think I would have melted away if I went when the temps were that high. I enjoyed every minute of that trip from New Delhi to the Himalayan mountain visits.

I have travelled a lot and I miss it now, but that part of my life over. I cherish all the memories though.

104 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 70° but now it is going to start warming up.  We are heading to 80° today and the high 90s for the weekend.  Our highest temps are yet to come.  Usually July and August are the hottest.
The MRI yesterday was pretty easy and only took about 15 min. so I will see the Orthopedist next week to see what it showed, if anything.
A fire broke out in Orange County in Southern California near the coast in an affluent neighborhood with multi million dollar homes.  24 of the homes were destroyed.  These are big homes, most 10-11,000 Square feet.  They are in the hills overlooking the ocean and it started as a brush fire that was driven by the winds into the homes. This is probably only the start of what we will see this Summer.
I bought a replacement battery for my Mackbook and I am going to attempt to install it.  This is going to be a challenge for sure.  Apple glues down everything inside their devices and there are several delicate and fiddly cables that have to be unplugged.  I bought the battery from Ifixit and it comes with the special tools needed to do the job. Ifixit has a very detailed guide on their website that leads you step by step and I watched a professional on Youtube do it and it is listed as difficult but looks doable.  Apple uses some odd screws that need special tools to remove.  I don't know how successful I will be but I wanted to give it a try.  Even though this Mackbook is getting old, 2016, I have grown to like it and the more I use it the more I learn.  One of the things I like about this Mackbook is that it is so small, 12 inch, and so thin that it is almost like carrying a large tabled around yet it is a full functioning computer.  I have one more tool that I ordered that should be here tomorrow then I will give it a try.

122 this cloudy morning.

60° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 61°/40° with chance of showers late evening.

You are very brave Wally!! No way would I even consider replacing a battery in my laptop! There is a gal near here that does repairs, her company name is Bev The Geek. I spoke to her when my last laptop got the pink screen of death. It was dead, beyond repair...

Hope you learn something more from your MRI Wally.

My second cataract surgery is next Tuesday. I know what to expect, but still nervous about it.

The Salonpas patches continue to work.  I have a few errands to run today, will see if they help.

That's really cool Wally. I would also do something like that but the DIY industry is almost non-existent here.

Barb, the very best for the 2nd surgery. You'll be back to 20-20 vision again.
Northern India has splendid weather during Sept-Oct. The summer has just gone and the winter is about to set in. Ideal time for travel.

Thanks skb! Dr says I will still need glasses after the surgery, just not nearly as strong. I also have an astigmatism which the surgery does not correct.

Yes, the weather was really pleasant when I was there. Not too hot, not too cold.

91 this morning.  We started warming up yesterday with a high of 77° and expecting 90°
today, at least it is not windy.
I am lucky that I don't have an astigmatism so I get along well without glasses until I am at the computer or reading, using my phone and the like.  I don't need glasses to drive so I can use regular sun glasses but most of the time I wear my glasses that are tri focal and the top part has no correction but the other two are corrected for medium and close viewing.  It is easier to wear my glasses most of the time instead of taking them off and forgetting where I put them.   ~tnk~
My 12" Mackbook is really a nice little laptop because it is so thin, lightweight and small.  I only paid $200 for it on Ebay and it is really in good condition except for the battery so I figured it is worth the attempt to install a new battery and it will be close to new if all goes well.  I like to try something like this for the challenge and if it doesn't work I haven't lost a lot.  I have everything I need now so I will probably try it today or tomorrow.  They only made this model for 3 years, 2025, 2016 and 2017.  This is a 2016 model and there were some improvements made over the 2015 model but there were some problems that people had that made many of these unusable.  One of the problems was the keyboard that used a new "butterfly" key that caused the keys to become sticky or not work at all.  Mine works just fine and since it is 6 years old I am hoping that will not be a problem in the future.

121 this cloudy, windy morning. Guess we have your wind now Wally.  :D

62° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 52°/37° with possible rain showers early in the day. Glad I did my errands yesterday, I can hunker down and not go out in the wind.

My MacBook Air is a 2018. I bought it new and am not hard on my computers so hopefully it has a lot more life left to it.

Yeah Wally, I want to wear my glasses all the time. I can see the TV better at this point w/out them but putting glasses on and off is really annoying to me. Once second eye is done and healed I will get new ones that I can wear all the time.

105 this morning.  We got to 91° yesterday and it is supposed to get to 96° today.  It looks like we will be in the mid to high 90s for the next few days.  It looks like the wind is gone for now though.
I haven't started on the battery replacement yet, been busy with a few other things and I need to set aside 2-3 hours, or more, to complete it.  I'll get to it soon though.
