Quote from: walkerwally1 on June 12, 2022, 10:44:11 AMBarbara, hope your finger is not too bad.  I know how you feel about changing the bandage, I have been there before but it turned out to not be as bad as I thought.  I hope yours is not too bad.

I think so too. A visit to the local clinic will make you feel better and you'll be taken care of.

I just couldn't bring myself to take off the bandages today. I was checking out the clinic and if I can't get an earlier appointment they have walkin hours 3:30 to 5:30 and I will do that. I am kind of concerned because the tip of my finger is very dark. I'm sure it will be OK but it is kind of scary.

89 this morning.  A lot better than yesterday, still puzzled about that but glad it is back to a more normal reading.  We had a high yesterday of 100° but looking for a much better 92° today but windy.  It blew hard all night and still going.  Wild fires are going in a couple of areas in Southern California and winds will make them hard to contain.
Yeah Barbara, I think a trip to the clinic would be a good idea.  It is always easier to have someone else take care of a bad cut and if it needs a stitch or two they can take care of it.

98 this cloudy morning.

Yesterday's high was 62° today's forecast is 54°/45° with a slight chance of rain.

Cancelled Gastro appt and go an appt at the clinic for 11:20AM so will take off in a bit. Feel better now that someone will look at my finger, do what is needed and rebandage. I think it may need a stitch or two.

This has all been exhausting!

Well it is fractured at the tip! :( Left with a splint wrapped in coban to keep it on that I have to wear for 4 weeks. And a rx for an antibiotic.  Because I didn't know what I hit finger on I also got a tetanus shot. It was time for one anyway.

By the time I finished at dr and went to pharmacy, grocery store, and PO I was totally exhausted when I got home. And knee is really sore.

I am not going anywhere the rest of the week, even if my new glasses come in Friday.

That was what I had thought but was afraid to say so. I once fell down on a trek and fractured my ankle. It swelled up pretty bad and was very painful. I left it alone for a month and it healed on it's own, but sometimes it still gives me trouble after so many years. Always better to have it plastered and taken care of.

No plaster, a plastic splint that is just a little too large which is why they wrapped it in coban. They did give me a smaller splint once the swelling goes down more.

112 this cloudy morning.I hope the Keflex isn't going to raise my bg, it was just starting to settle down after the steroid eye drops.

Fortunately I did all the right things in the first few days, elevated finger and iced it. It isn't nearly as sore as it was at first and I suppose is healing OK.

Yesterday's high was 59°, today's forecast is 51°/44° with periods of rain.

102 this morning.  We had a high of 94° yesterday and it was pretty windy in the morning bur calmed down later.  A couple of wildfires in the mountains East of Los Angeles are causing problems with the winds and causing evacuations in the resort town of Idyllwild, hope they are able to keep it from there, it is a really nice place.

Thanks Wally! It was sorer yesterday but that was because of the dr manipulating it. It is much better today.

Your winds were here last night...I really don't like the wind.

I hope this is a better year than most. Lesser fires, lesser devastation and lesser lives lost.

I think it will take 3-4 weeks to be back to its normal self. Get well soon.

Thanks! Yes, the info from the clinic said 4 weeks for this type of injury to heal. That is why I have to wear the splint 4 weeks.

Changed the dressing and bandage today, has to be done daily. boy am I bad at that!! Hopefully I get better at it soon!

92 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 95° but heading to 102° today but no wind.  On days like this a breeze is welcome but I am not a fan of high winds either.  Here in the desert we often have a lot of windy days.
Yeah, having to change a bandage on one hand with only the other hand to use can be quite a challenge.  I have been there several times and it is not fun.  I like the self sticking tape that dose not use adhesive but sticks to itself quite a bit.

That is a link to one type, quite a long link but it will work if you copy and paste it.  I need to learn how SKB handles this by converting a link to one word.
I just tried it and all you have to do is click on the link and it will take you there.

107 this partly cloudy morning.

58* was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 73°/48° with no rain in the forecast.

Thanks for the link Wally,  that looks very much like the Coban they gave me at the clinic except mine is purple! :) Even using that, it is hard to get just the right amount of Neosporin on so the bandaid will stick when I slide the splint on then wrap it so the larger splint will stay on my finger. When I can use the smaller splint I might not need it any more. At least my finger is not sore today...

Yeah, that is exactly what it is.  It looks like the Coban name is a 3M name but there are many other mfg. selling the same thing and it comes in a variety of colors!
