106 this morning. Our high yesterday was 65° again and the overnight low was 32° so on the cool side and our high today is supposed to be 58° so it's going to be a bit cooler next week, not cold by your standards Barbara but cool.

I guess I am fortunate to be still in the 5% range but I have enough other problems that I hope keeping my BG in control helps. I was actually in the 4% range at one time but I wanted to expand my diet to add more vegetables for the nutrition and that brought me up into the 5% range but I am good with that

My Amazon orders are all delivered by USPS or UPS so I have never dealt with the Amazon delivery service, it is not available here, but for the most part I get my deliveries pretty much on time so maybe I am glad that Amazon doesn't use their own delivery service here!

Of course the fires are still the major news content around here and there is still quite a danger for many areas and several thousand still under mandatory evacuation. The winds are much less right now but they are expected to ramp up again starting Monday into Wednesday so that is not good. This is going to have an effect on everyone, even those like us that are not in a fire prone area. Last year after the Park fire that destroyed many homes our home insurance went up $800 so this will absolutely be another increase. Of course nothing like the disaster of people that lost their home and all that was in it but still it does hurt a bit.

Yeah, I was in the 4% range from 7/13 to 12/16 2.5 years, but like you needed to loosen diet. Then in 5% range until 7/24 8.5yrs. By then had gone off the wagon even more. I don't need or even want to be in the 4% range any more but just would like to be at least high 5%. Same as you, I feel keeping the diabetes in control can at least help keep other things from getting worse.

I am surprised Amazon isn't making deliveries in your area. They have been doing it here a fairly long time. Well, maybe they are testing in smaller areas before hitting big volume areas. Up until this fiasco, they have been really good and even deliver on Sundays which no one else does. They only have 10 of the actual Amazon vans in Missoula, the rest of the force is rental vans still.

The fires are indeed terrible! I saw a snippet of an interview on the Weather channel on TV last night about the water problem. He was saying that so many homes have burned to the ground their water delivery pipes were so damaged by the fire that a lot of them are leaking water causing many of the hydrants not to be functional any more. That is really scary.

I hear you on the insurance hike too.  You state seems to be having lots of issues around ins. already. I got a big hit last year when for some reason the State of MT decided to up the rates on mobile homes. Maybe because of the influx of new people many starting in mobile homes, that I guess are taxed in general lower than a brick and mortar home. My ins doubled last year from around $600/yr to over $1200/yr.!! This on a mobile home built in 1976! I do have 1.2 acre land, but still!!  Thank goodness at least the State give a discount on Property Taxes to seniors so I only pay 20% of what the bill would be.

But that is all just money, those poor people that are losing everything and even dying are sooo much worse than my petty complaints.

99 this morning. Our high yesterday was 58° and it should be the same today. Not windy here but in the fire ravaged area around Los Angeles they are expecting the high winds again Tuesday and Wednesday and that is a very big danger. Sadly the death toll stands at 24 but it is going to rise as they are able to get into the areas and search more.
Sadly there are always bad actors that want to take advantage of the vulnerability that is there because of people not able to be in their homes and the evacuation orders still stand. There have been many arrests in the fire areas of people that are trying to loot vacant homes. I hope they really do as they said and throw the book at them.

I don't know why Amazon hasn't started to use their own delivery here, it is far from a big volume area, but so far USPS and UPS have been doing a pretty good job. We have had a couple of mail carriers in the past that have left my packages at the wrong address but it has been good lately.

112 this morning.

Yesterday's high was 38° and a mix of clouds and sun. Today's forecast is 34°/19° cloudy with light snow in the morning.  21° outside when I went out to feed the cats this morning with a fine dusting of snow.

Garbage up to the road and a quick grocery run to fill in some wet cat food until that part of Chewy order arrives Thursday. The dry food part of the order is coming today. Chewy delivery I trust!

Again Amazon order no show. Once again today it says: "Arriving today 9:45 AM - 12:45 PM" I'll believe it if I see it!! Yesterday they kept adjusting delivery later and later up to 10PM. According to their tracking my vest has gone back and forth from out to delivery to Missoula 4 times since 1/7!! That is just not right! At least the cat food from Amazon is out for delivery today, coming USPS and I trust their delivery!

That's unfortunate. I think that they have problems with deliveries in remote areas. We usually get same day delivery here.

(ETA.  My order arrived the 13th while I was out.)

They have always been reliable in the past, however this is the first Winter for the Amazon drivers. I was talking to my USPS lady this evening when she delivered my Amazon cat food order. She said Amazon is using rental vans and the rental company doesn't allow them to use chains. She said one driver spent 3 hours of his day yesterday digging himself out after getting stuck in the snow. So it looks like my delivery issues were because of that.

107 this morning.

35° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 35°/22° and clear. It was all of 7° when I went out to feed the cats this morning. Clear sky full moon cold! Most of the cats were hunkered down elsewhere but started filtering in when they heard the breakfast call.

I was really happy to get my vest yesterday, but sad for the poor drivers having been put in the situation of dealing with snow with no 4WD or chains. I didn't see who delivered my package so I didn't get a chance to talk to him/her.

Nothing much on agenda today besides staying warm.

101 this morning. Our high yesterday was 54° and the low this morning was 26° so cold overnight but it is supposed to get to 61° today.
I have an appointment this afternoon with my dermatologist for a follow up but nothing big so it shouldn't take very long. I will have a chance to get out of the house for a bit so there is that. Not much else going on today.

The winds are supposed to be a lot stronger in the Los Angeles area today and tomorrow so they are going to be having a lot of danger from the still uncontained fires. It is pretty sad seeing people that had to leave their homes in such a hurry that they only had their clothes on their back and lost their home and everything in it.
