Hello everyone. I am the younger son of the poster you know as Grammabear. A moderator reached out to me this morning asking about my mom's health. What follows is my response to that moderator. I'm posting it here so the rest of the forum knows what happened.

QuoteI wish I could give you good news, but I cannot. My mother fell on January 2, and my father called 911.  They took her to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with covid and pneumonia.  My brother and I both spoke to our mother on the phone Sunday night, and she seemed in good spirits.

But early Monday morning at about 4am, I got a phone call from my father saying mom had stopped breathing.  45 minutes later I got another phone call from my dad.  Mom died.

We are all shocked at her death and cannot believe she is gone.

Thank you for reaching out and contacting me.  Mom was an active member of the online diabetic community and had many friends.

Brian

Mom was married to my dad for 51 years. He is heartbroken, as is me, my brother, and my mom's brother and sister. Her funeral is in a few weeks.

Thank you to all of you on this forum for providing my mother with an online home over the years. Bless you all.

Brian, son of Kathy

Another devastating news for us. May Kathy rest in peace forever. She will be missed by all.

Our deepest condolences to her entire family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a beloved member of this group and will be so missed. My heart goes out to you and your family in this difficult time. If I could give you all a big hug I would.

God bless her and may she rest in the peace of God's arms forever.

My heart is broken...

I had emailed Laura (John's wife) about Kathy's passing away. They were in touch with each other and this is what she has emailed to me;

QuoteOh Shyam, that is terrible news.  I am so stunned.  We had some correspondence and she was so kind.  I hadn't heard from her since mid-December, but I had no idea she was unwell.  If you are in touch with her husband, please pass along my condolences.  I know from speaking with her that, like John, her faith was strong.  She is now free from the burdens and struggles of this life.

I hope that Brian does log in sees this message.

Thank you for posting Laura's response. I'm not familiar with her or John, but to see her thoughts about my mom is very moving.

Planning her funeral is not easy, but my dad is getting through it with lots of help from family.

I miss her so much. I'm 46 years old, and I just want my mom again.  :'(

This is my mom and dad three years ago, close to their birthdays. I gave them a printed copy of this to them for Christmas because it perfectly captures them in their element: my mom in a cooking apron and my dad in a gardening shirt. I've got many more pictures like this.

Thanks for the photo.  It is always nice to be able to put a face on someone you have come to know on line.  I am so sorry for your loss and know how hard it is to deal with.  I lost my mother to breast cancer when she was only 70 and it hurts a lot but I have many, many lovely memories of her and our life together.

Thanks for the lovely picture Brian. They are both looking so happy and contented in the picture. Surely, you must miss her very badly as we all do.

Very well put. Over the years I spent many holidays and summers with my parents. Mom always made the best meals for us, and she helped my dad when he got the grill out. I can still hear in my head how she greeted me when I walked through the front door.  This picture is from July 2, 2017. My brother (in the picture) had stopped by to celebrate Mom's birthday the next day. We were all waiting outside while Dad cooked meat on the grill.

May 20, 2018. This was the day of my son Paul's graduation ceremony. Mom and Dad drove up to Wisconsin to see him. They were always there for us.
