Frustrations of using insulin

I would appreciate hearing the opinions of others who may either use insulin now, or have used it in the past.  Recently my insulin use has increased for no apparent reason.  In addition my control has gone downhill in a huge way.  Can stress account for something like this?   :(

Oh yes!

Also illness, changes in season/weather, various prescription meds and dietary supplements, "hidden" carbs, gradual destruction of remaining beta cells (unless you're one of the few with zero) and, I'm pretty sure, accidentally walking down the bread aisle at the grocery and smelling the stuff.

Seriously, while the science advocates out there might rightly argue otherwise, there often seems little rationale to insulin needs and I have different specialists who argue for different causes.

Lately, my own insulin use (basal rates, I/C ratios and boluses) have increased fairly substantially owing to infection, physical stress and gamma globulin infusions every two weeks. Of course, all the physical stress and high levels of chronic pain also contribute to emotional stress whether we know it or not.

Regardless, the only thing to do is use more insulin...

Thanks Tamagno.  Sometimes one thinks we are alone in dealing with insulin and its challenges.  Glad you took time to share.
