Wow! That is amazing! 

Years ago when my kids were young our mama cat came bounding over the back fence from the field with a snake held in the middle. She was so proud. Boy was I glad the door was closed!!

I just can't seem to get the printer to print. It keeps defaulting to "scan" and I see no place to change that to "print". It is connected to WiFi and both my phone and laptop see it, but I can't print.

I really don't know anyone around here that would know anything about it and Wally just got a different model of the same printer so thought he might know what to do. I am so not tech savvy at all!!

I am not sure what would cause that.  I had no problem with it working with my Macbook.  Did you download and install the installation program from the Epson website?  It needs the drivers from that to work.  It is located here:

You need to input your OS version for your laptop and download it and install it.  You can also download the Epson Smart panel for your phone and that worked for me. 

If you have done that then I am not sure what the problem is.  Maybe you could elaborate on what you have done to set it up.

I'm wondering if I should just delete everything and start over?

This is what I did...if I remember it all...

Unpacked everything..well duh!

I went to download Epson Smart Panel on computer but it wouldn't let me. So, I downloaded the Smart Panel ap on my phone. Turned on printer, launched ap and did set up. Filled tanks and charged them. Put in paper and I think I printed a page from my phone and it came out OK. Next I went to epson.com/support/et2400 and followed the prompts, installed software. At some point I had connected phone with WiFi... Registered printer. But computer did not find printer so...

Following the directions that came with the printer I decided to use computer rather than ap. It said skip to fill tanks etc . Finally. got printer added to computer with proper os info.Tried to print but all that would come up was Scan with no way toselect Print that I could figure out. Ran the software to add it again...by this time I was totally confused as to what I was doing.

Hoping against all hopes I gave up, praying it would fix itself overnight...nope.

I never had this much trouble installing a printer before...

When I click Download iOS ap the link you posted on my computer I get: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/epson-smart-panel/id1477796092 which says: This app is available only on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. I have that ap on my phone since last night.

Pretty sure I downloaded the installation...I remember 3 different downloads associated with the installation... there are abot 6

How hard is it to delete everything and start over?  Is it even possible?

No when you go to the link you don't want to click on the "download IOS app" that is for your phone only and you already have that,  You need to go to where is says "operating system" under downloads.  There you need to select the operating system for your laptop, I don't know which Mac OS version you have so you have to chose. Unfortunately they only show version numbers but you can get that for your device by going to settings, general, about and it will be there.  You probably don't have to uninstall what you have as it should install all of the right items. 
This is how I setup the printer for my Macbook and didn't follow the instructions using the phone.  On my Windows desktop trying to use the instructions they give you on the phone didn't work so I went to the website and went from there. 
When you get to the place I described and select your operating system you will see a download for "Drivers and Utilities Combo Package Installer" and that is what you want.  It is one download and will install everything.

I think did do that. At one point it asked for operating system I clicked on the right choice (macOS Mojave ver. 10.14.6)  I don't remember if it said Mojave in the line that automatically appeared for OS. Then got the download screen with 3 things to download the first one took forever the second not so long..I think Utilities, was the first one of them.

I'm truly sorry to be such a pain. I must have done something I wasn't supposed to. I filled out a registration using my email at one point, I think after the phone install...then after I did the 3 item download it spit out an Epson Connect page with a generic email and password as the register info. It list all the things the printer does.Today I downloaded the Remote Print driver in hopes that would allow it to Print not just Scan which it actually doesn't do (I expected it to print a blank page...if not the page I was trying to print).

I am inches away from boxing it all up and putting it in the garbage!!!

Oh that would be a shame. I'm sure there is some help line that can walk you through the installation. Have you tried to look up videos on YouTube. They are a big help too.

Still no success. :(

I did as Wally suggested and selected the downloads, input my OS which is actually v10.14.6 not the one that automatically came up. Then downloaded Drivers, Utilities, and firmware as shown there. I didn't see anything that said Finish or Load or whatever for the newly downloaded items. Still get Scanner only option when I try to print.

Hmmm, rereading Wally's post, my option didn't say "Drivers and Utilities Combo Package Installer", it had the three I mentioned and a bunch of separate downloads under each item. Maybe it is because it is an older OS?

KI tried the Chat with Epson but that was a real challenge to use. I guess the only thing left is to call Tech Support. Some of the comments on Amazon said it took ages to sort out their problems...

Tossing it is looking better and better... Frustration is getting to me at this point.

Sorry you are having such a problem.  I think that the older version of your OS may be part of the problem.  My Macbook has the latest version OS 13 and it worked very easily.  It looks like a call to Tech support may be necessary.  I am not sure what to do from here.  If you go to your Amazon account and click on orders and select the printer you should see "get product support" and if you select that it will give you some suggestions and also the number for Epson phone support.  ( 800-444-1527 ) if you don't have that. 
I know frustration as I had it when my Windows became corrupted and at first I thought it was the printer but it was Windows however I spent a few days trying to get it working.  Throwing it out would not be a good thing and you could always return it if it is within the 30 day Amazon return limit but that is really not very satisfying.  I think a session with support may so;ve your problems.

Thanks for putting up with my whining Wally!

I am thinking the first thing I should do is upgrade my laptop. With all the problems with the printer, I am afraid of bricking my laptop just to mess up everything else totally! Found-less fear,I know, as I update phone all the time with no problems...

So that is what I will do, cross your fingers for me!! I'll post when done and go from there I guess.
