Mom of T1 diabetic struggling to get her child's med supplies covered

I saw this story posted on a different forum and could not believe the response this mother got from her congressperson.  Representative Jeffery Guice is an elected official in Mississippi.  I think he doesn't deserve the job.

Here is the beginning paragraph of Nicki Nichols e-mail to her representative:

I am the mother of a child with Type 1 diabetes and an advocate who works with the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi. We have recently begun having a lot of problems with Medicaid/CHIP coverage of the essential diabetes supplies needed, not only to keep our kids healthy, but to literally keep them alive. Many parents, myself included, have found that while supplies are deemed necessary and technically covered by insurance, we cannot get Medicaid and/or CHIP to pay for them, and suppliers aren't able to help us. ...
Is there someone in the legislature that can and will help these children stay healthy? They must have these medications and supplies which administer the medications in order to remain healthy and, quite honestly, alive!

If you follow the link given above, you'll see that Ms. Nichols responded (much more politely than I would have), and outlined the costs for all the necessary supplies and why she and her husband are not able to pay for these supplies out of pocket and maintain a roof over their heads.

It is shocking how little some elected representatives know, or care, about the problems facing their constituents.

Not surprising - these people have a base salary of $150,000 a year and leave office millionaires - how does that happen?

Plus, they have their own "special" health care for life. However can we imagine they'd be even vaguely competent to run ours? Certainly not Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare or anything else.

They're all bums, rat finks and you-name it...

I agree 100% and Illinois seems to have more than other states.

It is the same story everywhere.

Here the private schools are better managed and run than the government schools which are pathetic. My sister couldn't afford to pay a donation for admission of her child into a private school. The trustee of that school, who is a politician said - then put him in a municipal school if you can't pay.
