I am always amazed at your diligence in reporting. I was diagnosed in 2012 and was a diligent LC/HF Keto for several years. I lost a lot of weight and my A1C kept coming down. A year or so two ago I loosened up a bit on the lc/hf/keto I'm pushing 72 YO and my A1c has stayed solid in the 5%. I'm not in any way saying LC/HF is not the best way to get your numbers in control because it definitely is! At some point we each have to make a decision re what we will do...

I am so glad that I found LC/HF early on (courtesy of Gretchen Becker, Jenny Ruhl, and Dr. Bernstein).  I passed the 12-year mark last month, and will be 69 this coming week.  I have been wearing slippers all this past year, and I can feel them on the soles of my feet.

LOL I am not quite so rigid but I too can feel my feet in my slippers... even when the mud in my driveway sucks them off my feet... not a feeling I would recommend to anyone...mud between the toes...not a good feeling... not to mention the mess...
LCHF definitely rules in control but at some point things can be loosened a bit. Each one of us is different, what works for one may not work for another but overall LCHF is the best way to control, you have to find your own way that works for you within the LCHF world.
