I saw my doctor yesterday.  She's put me on a small dose (5 mg/day) of Pravastatin, until I turn 75, recommended that I stop drinking diet sodas (she doesn't trust the chemicals in them), and asked me to cut my testing from 6 times a day to 4.  So I'm going to do waking up, before lunch, and before and after dinner.  Look for my daily averages to go down.

Yeah, my dr cut me down to 4 x a day too, but then he considers me "cured" so I'm thankful for the strips. What an Idiot!

Apparently some 'holy writ' has come down from the know-it-all pharmaceutical gods, y'think? Everybody must take a statin & test only four times a day? SMDH . . .

Fat chance my doc would have getting me to conform to some arbitrary schedule . . .   ::)

She's concerned that I'm going to do damage to my finger.  In any event, I'm not on medication at all, I tend to eat very similar breakfasts almost every day (avocado, some sort of chicken sausage (or a low-carb yogurt), maybe some fresh greens, and coffee (sometimes with cream), and four days a week Mrs. S. makes me a salad for lunch.  Even when I eat out for lunch, once a week, I tend to go to one place, and to rotate among a few well-known meals.  And my doctor hasn't cut the number of strips in my prescription, so I'm free to test more, if I eat something novel.

For the past several years, though, unless I eat something out of the ordinary, my lowest BG in any month falls in the mid-70s, and my high in the 120s.
