6106 steps yesterday.  A year ago I was knocking out 10K steps a day pretty much every day with occasional problems with my knees but Cortisone took care of that.  I'm hoping to get back to that but sometimes it seems like it is a long way off.  It probably will improve when the weather cools down and I can do more outside.
Barbara, the smoke can be a real problem.  I hope you are able to get some relief soon.  I count 16 wildfires in California right now but none are close enough to here to bring any smoke here.  I hope it stays that way but it can always change.

Barbara - Even if your trip is delayed until end of the month, it still gives you an opportunity to get away from the area and hopefully the air quality will improve a bit before then.  Maybe we all should do a "rain-dance" for your area (who knows maybe it would work?)  :)  Plus you would get to cuddle that darling grandbaby!

The problem with the smoke is that it is everywhere! And my cat doesn't travel well at all so I just stay inside as much as possible. Today has been much better, still very unhealthy, but better than yesterday. Went to the PO, and bank and grocery store to stock up so I don't have to go out for another week.

Don't know about today as my knee is kind of acting up. I'm aiming at least for 6,000 which is my set goal.

Sorry guys, I didn't do anything yesterday. I was feeling too lazy and was not up to it. I hope to make up today.

5861 steps yesterday.  Not quite up to 6K but close.  I have my goal at 5K but I am going to see if I can bump it up to 6K for now and then maybe work up from there.

6,598 steps yesterday.  I still have my goal set at 6,000, so I am OK with that. Today may be a challenge as  ~ cat ~ has required a lot of lap time for some reason.

7757 steps yesterday.  I picked it up a bit but still trying to keep above the 6K mark.  I saw my orthopedist yesterday for a follow up from my last appointment and my knee is doing much better.  I said I was not at 100% recovered from my broken hip and he said, well, you never will be 100% recovered.  I kind of figured that was probably true but I want to get to as close to 100% as I can.  He gave me exercises to strengthen my legs and that is what I think I need.  The only thing now is to do them.  I am not real good at doing exercises on a routine basis.

I can't remember what exactly your hip surgery entailed, Wally, but I know that my everlovin' got hip replacement, and he recovered 100%. After following doc's orders for recuperation, he was able to return to his old tree-felling wood-cutting chores, and it was only four years later when he had the heart attack at age 78, that he was prevented from doing such physical labor.

5,284 steps yesterday. Lots of  ~ cat ~ in lap time...

I'm still not at 100% of my routine but I'm catching up. Work wise I've been very busy the past few months, but yesterday I opted to add in a short 2 km walk on the way back home. My Argus app says I used up about 2800 steps to do that. Sounds about right to me.

My femur broke near the top where it starts to turn toward the socket in the pelvis.  The top part that has the ball on it broke clear off.  I have a rod almost the entire length of my femur  that was driven into it and it has a hole in the end that has a large "screw" that holds the other part with the ball on it in place.  I did post a copy of the x-ray here somewhere.
I did as much reading as I could on the subject and was surprised to find that normally recovery from surgery for a broken hip is usually more difficult and takes longer than hip replacement.  I would have thought that it would be the reverse.
Anyway I am doing pretty well over all but I have worked hard at trying to make the best recovery that I can.  Whether I can really make a 100% recovery, whatever that is, or not, time will tell but it has been 8 months.  Then again I am 75 years old and that is a factor.

5947 steps yesterday.  Well, I missed my 6K but close enough.  Funny thing is that it seemed like I walked more than the day before but that was over 7K.
