6,429 steps yesterday.  That included errand running in town.

Probably will not get as many today, my cat has firmly planted himself in my lap as I sit in the recliner.

skb, I carry my phone with me almost all the time. It doubles as my "help I've fallen and can't get up" device. Since I live alone, it gives me a bit more of a sense of security. Not saying that I haven't on occasion left it on the table...

Thata Gal Barbara.  Like I said earlier in the fasting bg thread I think the phone app will work just fine.  On another note today Fitbit started a new feature that I think will be really nice.  They have featured locations and plot a trail and as you walk it has landmarks on the way and as you walk the distance from one landmark to the next it shows nice pictures of the area and plots your progress.  Today I am walking the Vernal Falls Train in Yosemite National Park.   Kind of fun and adds a bit of adventure to just walking.

7736 steps yesterday, another new high.  All inside the house.  I just may make it to 10,000 some day.  If the air were cleaner, I'd walk outside some but the smoke and I don't get along. Temps are coming down so hopefully soon the smoke will be gone.

I finished up the Vernal Falls trek this morning.  The total was 15,000 steps and I got 11,500 yesterday and got the remaining 3500 steps this morning by 8:00AM.  I had a busy day today and ended up with 15,353 steps which is more than I have done in one day for quite a while.  Starting a new challenge tomorrow called the Valley Loop also in Yosemite National Park.  This one is 24,000 total steps so it will be interesting to see how long it takes me.
Barbara, smoke makes it really hard.  Lucky for me we have had very clear skies and it has been very nice outside.  I don't do well trying to get steps in the house.  I've done it when the weather is nasty but I don't do well.  You are doing great so don't push it too hard to try to get 10K.  I had to learn the hard way.

8180 steps yesterday. Wow!

Wally, I mostly walk inside because of my knees and low back.  It is flat and safe for me at this point.  I am going to scout out some paths locally too.

Great going Barbara. Today I'm going to start with my exercise routine all over again. It's been a rather long layoff of about 3 weeks. My workout is a short stint of of 1-2 miles on the Treadmill which is a mix of walk / jog / trot / run. Some weights on the multi gym machine & dumbells followed by free exercise on the mat & some sit ups from a reverse incline position. Takes about an hour & works up all muscle groups. Looking forward to it.

I started the first day of my 24,000 step "adventure" yesterday and had hoped to get at least 12,000 steps so I might complete it in two days and actually did better than I expected with 14,000 steps so 10K today will finish it .  I'm enjoying the "virtual" hike along a very scenic trail and the landmarks shown along the way are really beautiful.  Yosemite National Park isn't that far from here and it makes me want to make the trip.
Barbara, I fully understand and what I meant was that the amount of steps you are getting being inside is an achievement.  I try sometimes when the weather is nasty and it isn't easy.  I am lucky to have a lot of concrete on the back of our property, we have 2 1/2 acres, and it is mostly fairly flat so walking outside is pretty easy.

8490 steps yesterday.

Wally, yes, Yosemite is gorgeous!!  Before my DH got sick we hiked there many, many times.  Our spring backpack warm up every year was hiking into Hetch Hetchy and camping over night.

I don't understand how you are seeing the scenery.  Is it on the fitbit?

Yes Barbara, Fitbit has these hikes on your phone or tablet and has beautiful pictures on landmarks along the way.  The map shows your progress along the trail and matches your steps to the actual trail.  I have to say it is fun and gives a different prospective of what you are doing.  Kind of adds a bit of fun to the whole walking thing.
Yesterday I completed the Valley Loop trail which was 24,000 steps total and did it in two days.  That was an accomplishment for me and today I feel it with whiny muscles in my legs.   ;)
My totals for the week from 8/29-9/4 are 82,353 steps with my best day 15,496 steps and that is more than I have done for quite a while.

@Starsign, go for it.  You have nothing to lose and everything to gain(not referring to weight  :) )  I really think it is a good thing.

8334 steps yesterday.  I hear ya Wally, my knees are starting to talk back to me some.  May have to slow down a bit.

Tomorrow I go up to town to see my Oncologist.  That will involve a shopping trip so I am pretty sure I'll get lots of steps out of it.
