Yeah, I watch a lot of reruns on ION and WETV and they are loaded with commercials. During the day, the TV is on just for the sound of another person around and I do walk a lot just to fill the time when I am not doing chores.

I think I read somewhere that regular current TV shows are something like 42 minutes of show and the rest is commercials so even the current shows I watch allow for lots of steps.

That is an interesting statistic about television shows.  It seems like the favorite shows are getting shorter and shorter and Yes, we also watch a lot of reruns.  It does make for an excellent opportunity for more steps.

7432 steps yesterday.  Sometimes I just get busy doing other things and walking gets sidelined.  I used to have a Tivo and recorded TV shows and movies.  Then you could download the recordings to your computer and edit them and save it to a hard drive. I have hundreds of hours of recorded TV shows and movies and often watch that instead of live TV.  I can verify that for every hour of content on TV, no matter if it is a movie or a TV series, there is about 20 min of commercials.

Since the majority of my walking is done inside, the weather doesn't really matter. But, I do like that it is lighter later.

8921 steps yesterday.  I took a walk down to the end of the block and then over to the next block and back.  Trying to see how far I can go in one session.  This was only about 1/8 mile but maybe I can improve on that.  The Fitbit uses the phones GPS and traces your route.  Pretty accurate and kind of fun.

I wish there were sidewalks around here, I would walk outside more. I'd have to drive into town, not far, but still inconvenient, to walk on sidewalks, so I walk inside.

Same here Barbara, no sidewalks, plenty of paved highways that are travelled by all manner of trucks, cars, motorcycles, and gravel trucks carrying heavy loads.  Nearest town is 5 miles away and I'm not even sure it is considered safe for walking.  It used to be that the Mall would open early for people who wanted to walk.  But it no longer does that because someone fell and hurt themselves, so sued the Mall.

5992 steps yesterday.  I was doing good until around noon and then my back decided it had enough so took the rest of the day off.  I have been out walking this morning and seem to be just fine so I guess that has passed.
Our old house was on a state highway in the mountains and walking along the road was not a good idea.  I was lucky in that we had a lot of concrete in the yard and a nice area to walk.  Here it is a big yard also but being able to go out and use the sidewalk is a nice way to get variety.  Our Super Walmart in only a mile down the road and in the real hot summer months it offers a big air conditioned place to walk as much as you want.  That is the closest thing we have to a Mall here.

When I lived in the Sierras in CA, I lived in an old subdivision that was mostly weekender homes. It was very quiet and we could walk the streets quite safely. Here there are 2 lane roads with no safe places to walk on the sides. Town is 7 miles away and it just feels like a pain to have to drive to walk...
