10,522 steps yesterday.  Back from a long drive of 2 hours each way and about 2 hours in town so today's step count will be pretty low.

Started walking as promised. I go to the jogger's park near my home. For the past few days I have been averaging anything between 3 to 5 kilometers depending on time available to me.

3702 steps yesterday.  Yeah, all of the driving took it's toll and when i finally got home I was pooped out.  Driving of freeways with a lot of traffic is not something I like to do.  Back to normal today I think.

14,867 steps yesterday. Fell asleep in the recliner in the evening and lost an hour walking time...that's OK though, I probably needed the sleep more than the steps.

I'm with you on driving on busy freeways. I don't drive at all when I go to CA to visit. I don't even go up to town here on the weekends as too many people are driving all over.

Why you count steps. That is very less exercise. I byecycle to my workshop every day that is 12 km away.

8632 steps yesterday.  Kind of sore yesterday so I took it a bit easy.  I did make my steps each hour though.

Ajit, it is great that you bike to work, that is excellent exercise! Some of us have physical restrictions on the kinds of exercise we can do. I am 70 years old, have herniated and bulging discs and other issues in my lower back. Plus I have balance issues and my knees are not what they used to be. Exercise is exercise no matter what type. As long as you are moving it is good. My steps yesterday amount to a distance of 4.3 miles according to my step app that is a pretty decent distance in my book.

Very true.

Ajit,

On a diabetes forum such as this, exercise has a different meaning from that of say an exercising forum. Here, every physical activity that helps to keep BG in check is of importance. Walking is a very effective exercise overall and definitely wrt Diabetes.

7169 steps yesterday.  Still feeling kind of sore and not sure why but better today.  I am hoping to get back to my 10K routine.
Ajit, walking is really quite good exercise for someone and much better than sitting for long periods of time.  I am 77 years old so there are a lot of things I used to do that I just can not do anymore.  I try to get at least 10,000 steps each day and walk at least 250 steps each hour to keep active.  We do what we can to be active.
Riding a bicycle to work is a very good thing to do and the more you can do the better.

I walk for about 45 minutes when I can. I mean not everyday. And I can tell you it feels good and is good enough for losing some of the weight and health overall.

A really obese friend has gone on a diet (not ours) and lost 3 kg in 10 days. Good for him. But it has charged me to take up my abandoned workouts once again.

So today, after months of gathering dust and rust, I started up the treadmill once again. Did a short 1 mile stint interspersed with climbs and jogs. And a little bit of small weights for the arms and shoulders. I hope that this will continue and I will soon be at the levels that I left off at.
