Can I ask what kind of step counter you use?  I am definitely not as active as I need to be, and I'm dismayed  :-[  at how little the numbers are on my current step counter.  How did you arrive at the awesome numbers you post?  You must have started somewhere - right?

I think she uses an app called Stepz. I use one called Argus which has a step counter among other things. Maybe this thread will refresh

Grammabear,

If you search in AppStore for a step counter, 100s of free apps will open up. I tried one for a few days but then gave up.
My life is based on a true story.

9,891 steps yesterday.

Yes, Grammabear skb is correct, I use an app called stepz on my iphone.  It seems pretty good, but in the mornings it seems to miss some steps.  I started slow as I have low back and knee issues so I basically walk in the house and the store when I grocery shop.  My set goal is still 5000 steps though I really want to be as close to 10,000 as I can.  Some days my cat just wants to cuddle and since he is not well, I can't refuse letting him sit in my lap.

Thank you for taking time to answer my question about step counters.  I have my first iphone and am currently having major issues with it.  But when I get this matter solved (I hope) I will download the app you mention and give it a go.  Like you I also have back and knee issues.  I currently have a little Fitbit that clips to my waistband, however it doesn't stay in place very well.  I did get something like 2500 steps at the grocery store yesterday, don't know how accurate the Fitbit is however.

It is good to take time to cuddle with the kitty, good for them and good for you.   ~ cat ~

Yesterdays PT was a half hour of leg exercises and then a meeting with staff going over my discharge on 1/17.  After that back to PT and a half hour of upper body training.  I am already seeing an improvement in my upper body and have been increasing weight and reps.  I have promised myself that I will continue to work on my upper body and not lose what I have gained so far.  I have known for a long time that I needed this but I am also very good at putting things off.   ;)

That sounds like a very good plan Wally. I too had some shoulder and back issues a couple of months ago and have not worked out with my upper body for some time now. Once I have my full hourly routine back in place, I will cover most of the muscle groups.
Right now I'm only walking for exercise.

I keep thinking about getting a fitbit. My DD said she'd get me one for Christmas, but she is even later getting her box out than I was!!  :)

2250 steps yesterday which isn't really a lot, but a start toward better numbers.

Just a little personal history about fitbits:  I got my first one last summer and clipped to the waistband of my jeans while riding the lawnmower (checking to see if the vibrations of the mower influence the step counting).  Sure enough the fitbit said I did a whole lot of "steps" whilst seated on the mower??  The next time I mowed I clipped it to the waistband again, only this time it came loose and I ran over it with the mower.  So........if you choose a fitbit, be sure and pick one that suits your lifestyle and doesn't get destroyed accidentally.  I'm glad to know someone else is a bit late in getting packages out.

I have a lot of catching up to do with all you people. I've been doing some things for a workout on and off but I need more consistency. Yesterday being a Sunday was a lay-off. Didn't do anything besides some overdue cleaning in the house.  ;)

Well !  Last day of PT and they worked me hard.  I am sore but I can see definite improvement.  I have exercises to do at home using a resistance band and dumbbells and I vow to stay with it.  Too much work at this point to not keep it going.
My first Fitbit was a Fitbit One.  If you read reviews and forums you will see that  losing the One is a common thing.  It comes with a rubber case with a clip you can clip to something but it is prone to falling off.   I put it in my pants pocket and never had a problem but it is really small.  I am now using the Charge 2 and it is like a wrist watch.  I was skeptical at first of how accurate it would be but it seems to be right on.  I wear it 24/7   to get the benefit of the sleep tracking and charge it in the morning while having my coffee.
I did try an App on my IPhone to compare the two and was surprised at how close they both were.
