On the weekend when my husband is home during the evening hours, I also get up during the commercials (which are plentiful) and walk until they are finished.  He looks at me like I have something wrong with me until I explained what I was doing and why.  I think I sleep a little better now that I've started walking more.

5891 steps yesterday so staying with the 5K+ so far.  I was able to walk to the mailbox and back without any help from my cane, about 300 steps, so that is a milestone.
As I am paying more attention to the difference between the Fitbit and Stepz I noticed a peculiar quirk with the Fitbit.  Apparently it stores steps for a while before displaying them.  At the end of yesterday the total from both was within 100 steps. The Fitbit does have a problem with some situations like shopping pushing a cart.  When my hand is on the cart it won't count any steps but the phone app does.

In preparation fro my cricket match on Monday, I've started doing some high speed running on the treadmill. Short bursts of 100-120 mtrs at speeds of 12-13 km/hr. I'm 59 years old and neither middle aged nor old, but this gives me a real charge of the feel-good factor. I hope I can do this, or a good part of it, well into my 70s. At least, I intend to.

Good show skb. 59 is pretty young, not old at all.
I haven't done any high speed or any running lately. I'm missing gym a lot these days and when I do happen to go I do some moderate lifting.

7187 steps yesterday   ~clp~
That is a new milestone for me since the accident.  It was a nice day yesterday and I could get more walking done outside.  I am looking forward to warmer weather and being able to walk comfortable outside.
@SKB, I will be 75 in a couple of months and I agree that 59 is still young.  Staying active is the key to being able to be active as you age.  When I retired at 68 I learned the hard way that being sedentary for only a year or so made it much harder to get back to being able to do so many things.  You are doing great, just keep at it !

5,821 steps yesterday and this is a new high for me since I started 'counting' steps.

If possible, don't become sedentary as it is hard to get back into the routine once again.  I know this from experience.

bigskygirl - What?  No baby yet??  :)  Thanks for noticing my step count.  I've been sedentary for too long and it isn't easy to do what I used to do easily.  :(

6808 steps yesterday so kind of happy about that.  I managed 7 days in a row with over 5K steps so a definite improvement.  Also being able to walk more without using the cane is a big help.  Looking forward to warmer days so I can get more walking done outside.
Yeah Grammabear, it takes work to come back from being sedentary for too long but it does get better.  Good job !

Wally - How long has it been since you broke your hip?  Seems like you are doing a splendid job of recovering, I'm happy for your improvement too.

Grammabear, I broke my hip December 29 and surgery was on December 30 so it has been almost 4 months.  My understanding is that full recovery usually takes 3-6 months but I don't know what criteria they are using for "full".  My orthopedic surgeon considers me fully recovered and doesn't need to see me for further follow up but I don't consider me fully recovered until I can do everything that I could do before the fracture.  I guess I am doing good and it gets better each day but it sure seems like a long recovery time to me.  The best thing is that I can do the things we all have to do like shower, dress, drive my car, go shopping etc.  and not have someone do it for me.  That is a real good thing.

An amazing 11,084 steps yesterday!!  Today may not be so good as  ~ cat ~ is lap sitting.

No Grammabear, no baby yet... The waiting is driving me crazy.  Probably not as much as them though!

6933 steps yesterday, another good day for me.  Nice weather and being able to walk outside helps a lot.  I'm feeling a bit sore this morning so not sure about today but we will see.

4,020 steps yesterday most of which was spent walking through the grocery store.  The store is super big and one can't help but get a lot of steps in when walking the perimeter of the store, plus they keep changing the displays so one can't find what was there last week.  :)
