How ever do you manage running when the weather is hot and sultry?  That seems like a most difficult task.  :(

Being born and brought up here, helps.   ;D

Back in the late 90s we were very enthusiastic forest goers. I traveled 1200 kms each year in May to help conduct the animal census. For a week the forests would be closed to everyone barring 5-6 of us non forest officials and about 20 staff members. Temperatures were around 47oC at the minimum during the day. The exercise involved a lot of walking up and down hill slopes and within dried river beds with only the drinking water that you could carry. There were no phones, no TV and no electricity. Those were the best days of my life. I think I got tempered there.

It sounds like you have been blessed with some wonderful memories of those times walking in the forest.  My husband was born and raised in a northern U.S. state and in his youth he would hike in the woods where he saw all manner of wildlife animals including a black bear.  He speaks fondly of those 'days'.

Yes, I've been up close with a lot of wild life on several occasions. I spent 5 hours of one hot sunny day with this fella;

Thanks, Barbara. There are so many pictures, but if I post more, I'm afraid I'll clog the attachments folder.

5462 steps yesterday.  I am really not paying much attention to total steps right now.  I am trying to walk as much as I can without using my cane and trying to wean myself off of it.  I am doing fairly good for a while but it does put more emphasis on my leg muscles and I can only go so far.  I think that is what I need though as my leg muscles seem to be getting stronger and I am able to do a bit more all of the time.  It's been 4 months now and I want to be rid of the cane for good !

Well, 5262 steps yesterday and that was a surprise as I was doing great in the morning but in the afternoon I had to back off.  My biggest problem seems to be my right knee now and I am going to see my orthopedic doctor Thursday and probably get a cortisone injection.  It's been 8 months since my last one and I really think it will help.

4.82 miles on the stationary bike during 30 minutes of 'riding'.  Some days my pain level definitely influences the amount of stepz or the amount of time riding on the bike.  I usually 'feel' better when I can get some kind of movement into my day.  If only I had learned that when I was younger.

I had a great workout at the gym yesterday. Sarge is gradually adding some weights and trying to work on some of the muscle groups that he feels we have ignored these past months. The sweet aches across my upper body confirm his feelings.  ;D

As expected, lower number today.  6985 steps yesterday.

A feed came across my twitter that said something about cat people "rules.'  It said if a cat is sleeping in your lap you don't disturb it... thus my lower numbetr

Another uphill walk/run for me. Only a km though, but that's besides the other exercises that I do routinely.

At our house, you don't disturb the cat, even if he's crowding you right outta bed!  ;D
