It does seem like I have a lot of trial and error, but I get more help from fellow diabetics than I do from the Endo. He is young and maybe not so experienced.  I am pretty sure he is not diabetic either.

Since you are T1 on insulin, I think you should step down on the carbs and the insulin units in very small increments. And as rightly noted, hold each stage for at least a week (maybe 10-15 days) before trying to drop any more. Slow and steady, should be the order. Starving, for a T1 on insulin, could be disastrous.

DR. BERNSTEIN'S book was the first I read and I was fanatically lc/hf/keto.  I was totally in that mode for years but in the last few months the fat was making me sick so I cut back. As long as my numbers are in good range, I won't worry.  I still totally believe lc/hf is the only and best way to control bg every time!!

If I remember right, Dr. Bernstein recommends 6-12-12 . . . 6g carbs at breakfast, 12g at lunch & 12g at dinner. While I'm not following it presently, it isn't too hard to maintain that if you don't mind eating a lotta bacon & eggs.  ;D Like today, I had a large Jimmy Dean sausage patty on a multi-grain sandwich thin (16g carbs/4g fiber). I cut it in half & intended to make two meals of it, but it was so good, I ate the whole thing. And it was a huge meal for me - I wasn't hungry again all day!

And remember that Dr. Bernstein is type 1, so it isn't necessarily detrimental for type 1s to go that low-carb. But it IS important that you chose something you can stick to, so if you really must have a buttermilk biscuit now & again (and occasionally I must!  ;) ), you just have to make allowances, and go with a more lenient plan. The thinking seems to be that strict LCHF is 20g or less, moderate is 20-50g, and liberal is 50-100g.

4302 steps yesterday and it would have been more.  Hubby and I walked the outer perimeter of the grocery store yesterday getting our weekly groceries.  It is interesting to take note of what other shoppers have in their carts.

grammaB - I have found that sometimes too much fat makes me feel nauseous, so I cut back just a bit.

It is sad that the advice given to many of us diabetics by healthcare professionals is to load up on carb consumption.  I can't count the number of times I've heard that over the last 15 years as a diabetic person.

6703 steps yesterday so not too bad.  Still using the cane but doing without from time to time.  I think I got a little bit carried away after the cortisone injection and put a bit too much strain on my leg so I had to pay for that but it is a lot better now.

7476 steps yesterday so three decent days in a row.  Still alternating between using the cane and not.  That seems best for now.
Yeah Barb, moving will certainly be plenty of exercise.  We are letting the tenant there find a place and move before starting to move and it may be a couple of months but that's OK.

Weekends I usually skip gym. Sarge recommends a lay off for 2 days.

But thanks guys, for reminding me that I should be going to the gym today.

Slow and steady, I say. Stay with your comfort zone, whatever it is.
I was at the gym yesterday and went through my full routine ending with a 2 km road run with Sarge.
