You are wise to take it easy Wally.  You really don't need any more injuries.

Wally - Is there a gym with a pool near where you live?  I've been told that water therapy is quite soothing and beneficial to sore knees.

LOL, there is nothing near where I live now !  In a couple of months I will be moving to town and there is a pool but alas it is broken and it has to be upgraded to current health code regulations in addition to being repaired and there is no plan at the time to spend the money to fix it.  So the answer is an unfortunate no.
Barb, you are quite right and I kept it down to 4K steps yesterday.  I'm hoping that my knee will improve but right now it is going to hold me back.

Both of my knees are aching today, so am going to cut back myself today.

Speaking of aches . . . I've battled this shoulder/upper arm for weeks. Well today we were in the pharmacy for a prescription & started looking at the shoulder immobilizers. Opened it up & put it on right there in the store & gave them the empty box to check out!  ;D

This is incredible! I still can't reach high or back over my shoulder, but I am doing a lot of things that caused pain before, and I'm sure I'll be able to sleep comfortably too.

It came with a lot more straps & stuff to really nail it in place, but haven't needed all that as long as the arm is clamped against my side in normal relaxed position.

Shanny and bsg, I hope you get total relief from all the aches and pain.

Today and tomorrow are my rest days so no gym for me. I think I'll take mum out tonight.

7759 steps yesterday.  Just shows you that having to go up and down the aisles at the Super Walmart trying to find something that some dummy has put in a place that even the employees don't know where it is will definitely increase your step count.    ~tnk~

Ah Shanny, now I see the brace.  I questioned it in the fbg thread.

Well, I took the day off yesterday, after all it was my birthday, and just cracked 3K steps.  I thought it was a good idea to give my knee a rest.

Well, I thought a day off would help my knee but apparently not.  I was doing quite good for the first few hours but around noon my knee started giving me problems.  Only was able to make about 3K and had to back off.  I will have to see how it does today.

I think that I am going to stop keeping track of steps for a while.  I seem to do quite well until I try to walk too much and my knee just won't take it.  The hip is doing very nicely but the darn knee is getting worse so I will soon probably have to see the Orthopedic Dr. to see what the next step will be.

I completely understand Wally.  No sense pushing your knee.  I hope taking time off helps it get better.

Well, I guess I made a liar out of myself.  I ended up with 6663 steps yesterday.  I have three knee braces in a drawer and haven't used one because in the past they have not really made much difference.  Yesterday I thought that it would be worth a try so I got one out and put it on.  WOW, what a difference.  My leg pain just was not there and I was able to walk much more normal.  I was still cautious but I was really happy at how much difference it made.  I'm hoping that it will continue but only time will tell.  It does show me that my problem is my knee now and my hip is really not holding me back.
