12,866 steps yesterday.

I think I am finally over the gunk I had after Las Vegas trip. I think that is why my steps are  better.

My 'gunk' is still going strong - even stronger than ever. But I believe it's allergies, because we still haven't had any really hard freezes.  Post-nasal drainage is prolific. What we need is a good snow like you've had, to settle all the dust, pollen, mold & mildew.

I've even resorted to daubing numbing gel on my nose because it itches so bad! Especially disruptive when I'm trying to fall asleep!

8195 steps yesterday.  It is a lot easier to get motivated when it doesn't hurt as much.  I felt pretty good yesterday and could even have gone to 10K I think but it turned kind of cool and very windy an the late afternoon so I backed off.  Barbara, glad you are feeling better.  It really does make a difference.
I had to stop using my Fitbit as it started to cause a sore on my wrist.  The part that has the sensor for the heart rate protrudes and made a dent in my wrist and I have developed a sore there.  I really don't care about the heart rate anyway, it was more of a novelty for me.  I have compared the Fitbit and the Stepz app in my phone and the Stepz app is actually more accurate.  Also it works all of the time and the Fitbit won't work when doing things like pushing a shopping cart when your arm is not free to swing.  I tried it on my left arm but it won't do well when I use the cane.  I carry my phone in my front pants pocket and that seems to work well.  I don't think I am losing anything.

I'm willing to concede that 'no pain, no gain' may have been a good motto when we were younger, but there's too much at stake now in our elder years to persist in doing something that causes pain. There's a reason it's called 'Pain Management' . . . we aren't supposed to be living in pain.

Yeah, Shanny, I think my "gunk" was allergies too and since we've had several freezes and now the snow, mine are much better.

I'll need to try out Stepz. I use an app called Argus which has lot of health monitoring features for the iPhone, including a heart rate monitor. But Argus is off by 24% when counting steps. After a gap of nearly 3-4 months, I started with my road walks & treadmill. Yesterday I must have done 5 km (3.1 miles). My target is to start running by the 10th and then I will start introducing weights as well.

6213 steps yesterday.  Slacked off a bit but my excuse is that it was so windy outside !   ::)
I played around with the Stepz app yesterday and found that if you swipe from right to left there is a new screen that shows your step count for each hour.  Kind of neat.  It has a bar at 300 steps so you can use that as a goal to get at least 300 steps/hour kind of like the Fitbit goal of 250 steps/hour.  The only thing it doesn't do is prompt you to hit the 300 steps like the Fitbit does, although it might if it is set to but I haven't found out if that can be done.  Just have to keep playing with it.
SKB, you should try Stepz, it is free so if you don't like it you can delete it.
I was looking into Stepz and it is only available for IOS so you need an IPhone to use it.

I never noticed that Wally!  It is cool to see the # of steps per hour!

I wonder how the time change will affect the Stepz app count??

I just checked this morning and Stepz didn't miss a beat.  Well, the time change was when I was asleep and my phone changed so Stepz uses the phone clock.

6154 steps yesterday.  Not a lot but I did manage to get 300 steps or more every hour for 11 hours from 7 AM to 5 PM and that is what I am working on.  My Fitbit buzzed me every hour to prompt me to get the steps if I had not gotten there but the Stepz App does not so I have to keep an eye on what I am doing.  Kind of fun and I do think it is a good thing.

11,992 steps yesterday. I like the hourly step bars in the Stepz app. There are  ~ cat ~ in lap hours with no steps and others with lots of steps.

I went to the gym in the evening and did my full workout, well almost. However, I completely forgot to take the stairs. Didn't do ant floors.

Where is ccd. We need reminders and encouragement from her.
