yesterday I got 3,111 steps which is more than usual for me.
That is the important thing.  Don't worry about what anyone else is doing.  You are the most important one to try and match or even exceed if you can.  We all have our own ability and limitations and just moving is the key to improving.

11,412 steps yesterday.

Depending on how much  ~ cat ~ in lap time, I get around 800 to 1000 steps per hour. Way less when Boo is in my lap...

Slow start to the week. Did only 14 floors yesterday. I also did not complete my gym routine. For some reason I was crampy in my calf muscles.

I agree with walkerwally's comment. The goal is to compete with yourself. I intially set a goal which i realised i was meeting relatively easily so i set a higher goal by changing the settings. Looking at other people posting just motivates you to try your best.

It is like when i see people doing those 20kg weights in gym and i am struggling with my 2 kg dumbells. :) But you are motivated to push yourself and that is the point.

You young sprouts whose legs actually work!  :D
It's all I can do to get up one flight of stairs to go to bed at night!  ~slp~

I don't have stairs in my house, but it makes me "tired" just reading about these young-uns going up
so many steps every day.

This is the only forum where i am considered young! I am going to stay here forever.  :P

Rocky- I can do 14 floors at a time. Reason being i live on the 14th floor. So i take the stairs after dropping my son to school. I work on the 11th floor which i find difficult as i am weighed down by my laptop bag and it takes forever to climb. I try and do one more 11 floor post lunch. My weight loss has not been much but my stamina has increased a lot since i started the stair thing

9410 steps yesterday.  I did good each hour yesterday was over 500 steps and my best was 1329.  Almost broke 10K and doing it this way, spreading my walking out, is helping.  As long as my knee holds out.
CCD, yeah, doing stairs will certainly build up your stamina.

I'm touching 60 in a few months but I don't consider myself old at all. It's all in the mind. 60 is just a number. Since the birth of my granddaughter I've stopped colouring my hair. As a result I sport an all white hairdo. Because of that people have started treating me as old, and that is a problem. The clash of their belief vs mine.

I haven't been to your city since 2011. By my last visit, the extremities of the city were starting to get developed and I could see clusters of tall buildings. Otherwise my memories of Hyderabad only have Ground + 2 storey structures.

Keep doing the climbing. Along with stamina you are also building resistance to illness. That is the major benefit. Weight will drop if you keep carbs < 30 gms a day.

Great score Barbara. Looks like Zero Lap time.

For some reason I was crampy in my calf muscles.

Same here, just the left leg though, and the reason is the long 4 month layoff that I took.

So today, I did the TM walk with the incline and a re-introduction of some weights for my upper arms, shoulder and legs.

skb- you are right. We sometimes forget the health benefits in the long term in the race of "looking good". There is always someone who is perfectly thin or perfect hair or taller than 5 feet in my case :) And you start  working out wanting to fit in to that vision you have of yourself. It is only when you cross 30 and feel some aches and pains that you start thinking about long term health benefits.  :P

I am less irritable as my stamina is up. I just need to stop the late night dinners. I love eating after the kids sleep while watching netflix. That is my way of relaxing after the entire day. I lost of lot of weight when i had  dinner at 7 and glucerna at 9.

I don't do that many at a time. Just 4 or 5. But if I'm able to repeat that a number of times I can get the count improve. Yesterday I did 26 floors plus full routine at gym.

Dinner at the earliest is always better. However, you can try portion control at least for dinner. It should help.

Yeah, I agree that 60 is not old and if someone feels old at that age either they have something wrong or they need to do a reassessment.  I worked until I was 68 and my job was fairly physically demanding.  I put a pedometer on for the heck of it and walked at least 5 miles every day.  I didn't feel old after I retired and was able to do most anything I wanted to do.  However at 75 reality is that I am old, at least older than I was, and some things I just can't do anymore.  I still don't feel "old" but I do realize that in some ways I am.

9630 steps yesterday.  I'm doing a pretty good job of getting at least 500 steps each hour.  Started yesterday at 7 AM and made each hour until 5 PM.  Best hour was 1125 steps.
