6204 steps yesterday.  It rained mostly all day so I stayed inside and walking just was not fun.  It looks like the same today then it is going to be sunny and warmer for the next few days.  Shanny, glad you got the walker.  Falling is something you want to avoid and uneven ground is tough to deal with.  At our age I am not sure there is such a thing as a soft landing.

7,883 steps yesterday.

My knee is much better today, but still taking it easy.

Shanny, hope you heal quickly. Falls petrify me. I've had some bad ones. And now my support system has become a snow bird and won't be back here until April. I remember a long time ago Craig Ferguson made a joke about a little old lady that died alone in her house and her cat ate her...I'm kind of afraid that could happen...

5974 steps yesterday.  Another lazy rainy day.  I guess I will have to get back to work today.
Barbara, have you ever tried a knee brace ?  I use the kind that fastens with Velcro and is stretchy.  If you haven't maybe it would be worth trying.  It sure helps me.

I'm pretty well healed up from the fall . . . one scab left on my elbow, but otherwise good. The walker is a godsend, and serves one good purpose I didn't foresee . . . getting up from the sofa. I have no trouble getting up from my chair because it's high and it has armrests to push off from. Not so with the sofa, but I can pull up on the walker without straining too much.

walkerwally1

Glad you're healed ( healing ) up and nothing was broken.  I don't sit on the sofa anymore, just too low.  I am amazed at how low many chairs are, like the chairs in the doctors waiting room, because they are so hard to get up from for older people.  I never noticed it before but I think that there are many people that have a hard time, especially in doctor's offices.  The fact that the walker helps with getting up from the sofa is a nice plus.

Yes, Wally, I have been looking at knee braces on Amazon for when this happens again, which it will.

I exercise around 5 to 6 days a week. But I walk everyday.
Some days the mind, and body (by extension) are just not up to it. Today is just such a day. On these days I try & accomplish anything over 50% of my routine.

"Petrify" is exactly the word!  ~tup~

As for Ferguson's joke - since the cat died over here, it would now have to be the mice eating me, because I'm sure we have a few, altho' we never see them or any evidence of them.  :D

Bones get weaker as we age and a fall beyond the age of 50 could be debilitating.

I can attest to that.  A fall last year that resulted in a broken hip was no fun and it takes a long time to get over it.

8501 steps yesterday.  I was doing good but around 3:00 PM the wind came up and I decided to call it a day.  It is going to be windy all day today and probably tomorrow so I am probably going to be down a bit on my steps.
SKB, sometimes my mind is a bit more ambitious than my body is willing to live up to.  I think that it is a prudent thing to listen to the body.

I've taken a coupla falls in recent years, but thankfully no broken bones. My doc says I'm the last one he'd expect to have brittle bones or low calcium, but still can't be too careful. This new walker is already earning its keep!

I've learned to SIT DOWN when putting on shoes and/or socks. Last winter I was trying to get into my snow boots while standing, when I lost my balance, fell over backward & banged my head on the wood stove. Thankfully it wasn't hot, I wasn't hurt & I just got up & tended to my fractured dignity.  ~hlp~

I got sidetracked this morning.   :-[
7236 steps yesterday, just made it to 7K and that was enough.  Lousy wind kept me inside all day.  Windy again today so ?

Wally, have you ever worn a copper knee brace? That is what I am looking at on Amazon.
