It is about 5.3 miles. Almost all of it done inside.

8168 steps yesterday.  I guess it makes it better for a lot of people to understand when they see distance, like miles, rather than steps  The problem is that it is different for everyone depending on how long their stride is.  With my short legs I have a stride of only 25 inches and 10,000 steps is equal to 4 miles.  if I had a more average stride of 30 inches the 10,000 steps would be equal to 5 miles.  Same number of steps but another mile.  That is why steps is a better way to express how much someone walks but it can be hard for someone that doesn't know the comparison.

That is very true Wally. I just go by what the stepz app says the conversion is.

8206 steps yesterday.  In the morning I vacuumed and mopped the kitchen and bathroom floors and then my back started to complain.  I really didn't think I was going to be able to make 7K for the day but it got better.

I, for one, didn't realize at first that the Stepz app 'did' the conversion for me.  I have a short stride of 18" and often feel like I'm running, almost, to keep up with someone whose stride is much longer.  But I recently read and listened to a story about CT Fletcher, who is a American power lifter.  He says "get out and do 'something' that you are capable of doing.  His videos are really interesting, although his language might be objectionable to some.

6475 steps yesterday.  I was just feeling lazy and didn't even worry about my total.  Did move every hour though so really not that bad.
I agree Grammabear.  We all have our limitations and you have to compare yourself to yourself.  I can't keep up with what I was doing a couple of years ago so I just do what I can.

With my short legs I have a stride of only 25 inches and 10,000 steps is equal to 4 miles.

I measured this today, and my stride is (also small) 28.12 inches. So I would require 2240 steps for a mile.

5204 steps yesterday.  Really feeling kind of crummy, kind of like a cold but mostly just really draggy and stuffed up.  Still like that today so not going to try too hard to make any dent in my step goal.
Yeah SKB, my only point was that two people can walk the same number of steps and go different distances so steps is the equalizer in comparing how much work you have done but distance makes it easier for many to understand how much a person has done.
