Have not recovered fully yet, so the gym is still out of bounds, but I've increased my walking. Hope that is helping.

The last three days I have managed 2800 - 2900 steps and while that is not record setting it kind of is for me.  A lot better than when I first got out of the Hospital and the best thing is, it is without any support.  I have put away the walker and am walking on my own, although I do take it easy and don't push too hard.  I still tire rather easily but it seems to be getting better.  According to my doctor the tiredness will continue until my electrolytes are back to normal and I am still low.

Yup. Wally, take it slow and steady. Sure you'll be at your old levels of 10-12 k soon. I am thinking of starting gym again, maybe today, maybe tomorrow. I think I need another day of rest.

Oh yeah, I'm taking it easy and not trying to hit any number but just walking as I am able.  My doctor wants me to do as much as I can as part of rehab and I do notice I am getting stronger day by day.  On the plus side I don't have any balance problems anymore and I am doing pretty good overall, just have a tendency to tire much sooner than before this started.  One of the features of the Fitbit is that it keeps track of your activity and as it has been determined that prolonged sitting is the worst thing you can do you get a prompt to get at least 250 steps each hour of the day.  For me that is doable and I think it's a good thing.  I made 4500 steps yesterday, a little bit at a time.   :)

Wally - Can I inquire what Fitbit device you have?  I once used the littlest device, the one that clips onto your pants or belt.  I lost it while mowing the lawn and obviously ran over it with the riding mower.  I replaced that one and was doing fair with my attempt at getting to 10K steps.  Then I got cellulitis in my leg and was laid up for two weeks with no walking.  Now I am weak in my legs and I would like to resume keeping track of my steps.

@ Grammabear, I started with the little Fitbit One you described and that was one of the problems with it, it is easy to lose.  I have the Fitbit Charge HR that you wear on your wrist.  I was skeptical about how accurate it would be but I find that it is quite good, not perfect, but none of them are exact.  This one is pretty much right on most of the time.  It also tracks sleep time and heart rate, not essential information but interesting.  Wearing it on my wrist it replaces my watch, and has a watch readout also, and I can pretty much forget that it is there.

Thanks Wally.  I think I will check out the device you've mentioned as there should not be as much of a problem losing it.

Finally, I was able to go the gym last evening. Didn't do any of the treadmill or other aerobic exercise. Concentrated mainly on the weight training and free exercise.
