Well, about 250 steps Friday walking toward the PT room. Couldn't make it the whole way but at least it was something.  The rest of the time was strength training.  Amazing how much we take for granted.  I know it will improve with time but I am such an impatient guy !

Wally, slow and steady wins the race. Soon you will be posting your fitbit excursions. For now, take it easy.

BSG, I've been hitting the gym with renewed energy. Treadmill, weights, rowing, cycling, elliptical, you name it. Sarge was polite and didn't say anything. I was thinking he would yell at me. The old sarge in Saudia would have.

PT resumed today and I am SORE !   I understand the cautions to take it slow but the therapist don't follow that. They want you to push as hard as you can.  Because of the weak muscles and the pain my body is resisting that big time so it takes a major effort to do even simple things.  Learning today how to dress myself with the aid of some clever tools.

Worked out a good sweat today. 30 minutes of cycling and treadmill followed by some light yoga.

I wanted to learn yoga, but those classes are very expensive.
I hit the gym with full fury last evening. Even Sarge was impressed.  ;D
From the time I joined here, I have lost around 30 pound of weight. Still overweight but not flabby anymore.

PT wasn't quite as bad today but still a good work out.  Yesterday and today I managed to walk from my room to the PT room both ways.  I'm not sure how many steps as I forget to count but I estimate about 500 each way.
I've been given an expected discharge date of Tuesday 1/17 as long as it is determined that I am OK on my own.  I've been doing pretty well at PT so I think I will be ready.  Actually I am ready right now !   ;)

Can I ask what kind of step counter you use?  I am definitely not as active as I need to be, and I'm dismayed  :-[  at how little the numbers are on my current step counter.  How did you arrive at the awesome numbers you post?  You must have started somewhere - right?

Another day of rehab yesterday.  I'm doing a bit better each day so that is what's important.  Did a series of "tests" yesterday to see how well I am able to handle some tasks.  The PT group has final say if I am able to go home and take care of myself.  I seem to have done OK.  I'm pretty confident that I can handle most tasks on my own.  My BIL is here in the evening but I am on my own during the day.  About half of the PT is working on upper body strength and I can see why, some times you need the arm strength to help for what the legs can't do.
