Well, 2647 steps recorded on my Fitbit but actual steps were probably a lot more than that.  I found out that the Fitbit does not do a good job of recording steps when using the walker.  I was suspicious and started counting steps and checking the Fitbit and when I have both hands on the walker it misses the majority of steps.   ~cnf~
On the positive side I am getting better at using the cane in place of the walker and then it keeps good track.  I believe that I soon may be able to give up the walker and get by with the cane until I can walk without assistance.  At least that's my goal.

3814 steps yesterday.  That doesn't sound like a lot, especially compared to what I was doing before the broken hip, but right now it is a lot.  Fitbit keeps track of each hour you manage at least 250 steps so I made an effort to set that as a goal and was able to get the 250+ steps each hour from 8AM to 5PM.  Not a big deal but kind of fun to work towards.  Keeps you from sitting for long periods of time.  Almost all of my walking yesterday was with using a cane and leaving the walker alone.  It is working pretty good and getting better.  I think today will be kind of a day of rest.

9,827 steps yesterday.  Tomorrow I am going to have to try and clear the snow from the front of the garage. Hopefully it won't be too icy still.

Thanks Shanny, actually I am quite happy with my progress so far.  The Surgeon said that most people were able to move from the walker to using a cane after 6 weeks and I am just over 5 weeks so I have no complaint other than my impatience to get over it.  I've never used a cane before so it has taken a little time to get used to it but getting better as I work with it.

Hats off to you Wally. I'm really impressed with your achievements.
I have not attended the gym this weekend but will be going this evening.

Well, I said yesterday would be a day of rest and it was, 1745 steps total and that's OK.  I have business I need to deal with in town so I believe I am OK enough to go and take care of it.  Driving poses no problem and I can walk good enough to get where I need to go.  Honestly I am getting cabin fever so it will be really good to just get out of the house.

I went to the gym like I said I would. Sarge put me through the whole drill, aerobics and weight training. A couple of days more of this and I'll be my old self again.

Same here, rocky. I had my workout after a 3 day break and the toll is heavy indeed. Only, I'm my own sarge. Though I try to push hard, the daily heavy dose of baking soda keeps me from doing much. Yes, excessive systemic alkalinity doesn't allow much of anaerobic exercise. This is something I need to research more about.

Well, I did get to town yesterday and it was good to finally get out of the house after being stuck in the hospital and then home for weeks.  Driving poses no problems other than it's difficult to get in and out of my Honda Civic right now but it just takes longer.  I got my Lab work done for my Doctors appointment tomorrow and then went to our new Super Walmart for some shopping.  My Fitbit shows 2027 steps for the day but I know it was quite a bit more because I found that the Fitbit does not count steps when I am using the shopping cart for support.  Just like the walker did.  I have not had this happen before but maybe because I am leaning rather hard on the cart it doesn't record the steps, no matter but I covered a lot of territory in the store.  Not really a problem and I really enjoyed being able to do this although I was a bit sore afterwards.

~ cat ~ in lap more today so maybe won't make as many steps.

Wally, that is interesting about the fitbit and the shopping cart. My app seems to count my steps even with the cart, but I am not leaning heavily on it. It is more for balance.
