I got a memo from my boss today about my typing skills.  :o
He is upset that I type in all small letters. I'm trying to make a change. Please do correct me when I go wrong.

Rocky,
It's always better to take care of grammar & punctuation. Though it is not mandatory here, it would be better for you to make those changes for your working environment. If companies rely on OCR software to scan documents, then all small letters could pose a serious problem.

Rocky,
This change will help you in the long run. Since I do a lot of Word and spreadsheet processing throughout the day, I know the importance of being particular about these aspects in working life.

When my youngest son was a Senior in High School, I signed him up for a typing class during the Summer before he went off to college.  He was NOT happy about it, but grudgingly attended the class anyway.  After he started college and came home for Christmas break, he said "You know Mom, that typing class sure helps me at college with all the typing I have to do on the computer."  He obviously did not think it was a skill he would ever use, but I'm glad he went to the class.

A very longggg time ago when I went to school and took typing, the teacher I had kept telling us:  "practice makes perfect."  Keep trying Rocky, you will do fine.

So far, you're doing fine.  I think the sharp increase in texting on cell phones has probably made your experience quite common for many people.  I know that my son often texts and doesn't punctuate or use caps in his texts.

Keep up the effort and soon it will become much easier and more natural to you :)

Rocky, Rhiannon is right on.  Presently I am forced to type with my right hand only, but I still know where the keys are.  I am much slower presently, and will be for some time while my left shoulder heals.  This one reason I am not active on the forum, but I felt that you needed the encouragement.

Thanks. I think you've hit the nail on the head. It was the cell phone usage.

May I ask what's wrong with the shoulder. Hope you get well soon.  :)

Rocky, my left shoulder has a broken and separated ball socket and a cracked bone almost to my elbow.  My elbow is also cracked and very sore.  These were suffered when I had a fall on concrete.  Doctor has me in a sling now and out of the shoulder and arm binder I was in.  He is not sure whether I will need a shoulder replacement later in a few months, but they evaluate my shoulder every two weeks presently.

Bob, I wasn't sure if I should "like" your comment about your shoulder, separated ball socket medical issue :(  Sorry to hear about your fall.

rocky

Take care Bob, and get well soon.  ;D

That's just awful, Bob! So sorry about your fall. Shoulder injuries are the worst - it seems like every move we make we lead with the upper parts of our bodies & that strains our shoulders.
