Modulated Oscillations of Glucose

A team of researchers has found that "although islet oscillations are lost by fixing a glucose stimulus at a high concentration, they may be recovered by subsequently converting the glucose stimulus to a sinusoidal wave."

In other words constant high concentrations of blood glucose tend to inhibit insulin production in the beta cells, but calculated and time modulated mathematical doses of glucose have a reverse effect. Of course, this was a study done on mice, but it seems to be an idea worth investigating further.
