101 this morning.

Speaking of migratory birds, I saw the first blue heron stopping by our stream this morning for a snack on its way south indicating that fall has officially arrived.

I stay in an area of Mumbai which had a small 110 acre local forest which surrounded us on three sides, the fourth side being our approach road. I've photographed many species of birds on our property. Every monsoon we had at least a few visits from a couple of white breasted waterhens. For the past few years a developer has taken over this piece of forest (which was a private property) and converted it into a complex of high rises. Gone are the days when I could some days spot a hornbill, or at one , a panther.

95 (5.26) this morning.  Well, we got up to 107° yesterday and that should be the hottest day, for a while at least.  Today we are supposed to be around 102° but with a chance of thunder storms for all next week.  Humidity is going to be high for this area.
At the old house we had quite a variety of birds and other wild life.  The land behind us was National Forest and the rest of the area had very low density of homes so it was still a home for the creatures.  Here in town the only bird I have seen so far is Doves.

81 (4.49) this extremely smoky morning, 84 (4.65) at bedtime last night.

I live very close to a wildlife refuge so get all sorts of birds visiting here.  The blue herons are frequent visitors.  However, with the smoke nowadays, the bird population is not out much.

Yes, the 110 acres was a research centre with just a couple single storey buildings, and was contiguous with a 3000 acre dairy complex and a National Park. That is why we were visited by all these birds. Even now a lot of Kites & couple of Coucals live in the close by trees. Some days a Kingfisher still drops by for some water.

Sundays I spend with my mum. There are a lot of things to be done around the house. I was not able to login yesterday. 81 before dinner and 93 this morning.

@bsg, You've been dealing with the smoke for a long time now. I hope that it clears up soon.

Rocky, as much as I wish the smoke would clear soon, it will probably be at least another month before we get relief.

I was watching a video of the floods in Houston. So tragic, such loss.  It struck me that the flooding is so 'gentle" compared to the harsh results of the fires burning through here.  Same devastation, same loss, but such opposite sides of the spectrum. Would I rather burn to death or drown??? OMG I don't want to choose!

135 this morning.

Living in the woods we've all manner of wildlife including bobcats and mountain lions but no jaguars which would be fascinating to see. One year a bobcat had a nest just behind the house that was unmistakable on account of its incredible stench. The state denies the presence of mountain lions but many here have seen them including me. Their size and unpredictability makes them a genuine physical threat despite their beauty.

95 (5.26) this morning.  I'm not a fan of fire or floods and I think when threatened the best thing to do is get out, if you have the time.  Many don't want to leave their home and I understand that but that is what insurance is for and your life is much more important.  Then, that is one of the motivations for moving to town from the mountains.  Got tired of worrying about the fire danger.

123 (6.81) this morning.  Several days ago I woke with some kind of viral thing that had me sneezing and continually blowing my nose.  Today I have 'cold-sores' on my face that are annoying.  We also have hazy atmosphere because of the wildfires from Canada and the smoke smell is quite strong today.

I'm sorry for the people out west who have many, many days/months of worrying about the wildfires that are burning.  :(

83 (4.6) this very,very smoky morning. 86 (4.76) at bedtime last night.

I think today is the smokiest day yet!  Air quality very unhealthy. The wind is blowing a bit, that doesn't help at all.  The Lolo Peak fire is now over 45,000 acres burned. Overall with all the fires burning in Montana, 500,000 acres have burned.

@grammabear, hope you get over your infection soon.

@bsg, you were planning to visit your daughter ? I thinthe trip would do you good for a few days, until the fire/smoke subsides.

105 today morning.

Schools are off for Ganesh Visarjan. It should probably rain like it does on every visarajan and worsens the traffic conditions.

Stay safe everyone. Hope the wildfire aftereffects subside soon. It sounds really bad.
