Don't let those green tomatoes freeze . . . pick 'em and make fried green tomatoes! Not discounting the wonder of well-ripened fresh tomatoes, but fried green ones are incredible!

The recipe suggests making gravy, but we usually eat them like an appetizer & dunk 'em in a nice fatty mayonnaise dip, combination of mayo & sour cream, seasoned as you like.

135 this morning and just can't seem to shake this cold.

We're still hoping for a few warmer days so our sweet peppers finish turning color.  This is our first year growing them and the taste is so much nicer than those in the store.  I will miss the fresh produce when the winter arrives.

91 (5/04) this morning, 91 at bedtime last night too.

The smoke is a little better today still very unhealthy, but better. Thunderstorms in the forecast for tonight...not thrilled about that unless they come with rain.

I think it is a benefit for everyone when people post their numbers.  It doesn't matter so much what the number is and we are all different but it gives others a sense of just how are other diabetics are dealing with the disease.  For me it helps to post my numbers as it keeps me aware of where I am and helps me stay on track.

154 this morning.

Thanks for the fried green tomato recipe, Shanny, I'm sure it'll be put to use this year!

Everyone's pepper crops here, Grammabear, won't be ripening with this cold weather. Our season is short for them anyway, but it's unlikely they have a chance now, unfortunately.

78 (4.32) this morning.  We had a high temp. of only 88° yesterday which was a surprise.  Predicted high was 98° but we had cloud cover all day.  Today is supposed to be 95° with chance of thunder storms.
Up in the mountains our growing season was very short.  We did have success with tomatoes and some squash but it was a chore.  It is going to be interesting to try growing some things next year down here.

103 this morning.

We also have an abundance of those little yellow pear shaped tomatoes that are just the right size to pop into your mouth.  Surprisingly enough they don't affect the blood sugar for me.

Our weather was 65 deg this morning with a high of 80 expected.

Barb - I hope you folks do get rain with the predicted thunderstorms as I'm sure rain would help with the smoke problem.

88 (4.88) this morning, 85 (4.71) at bedtime last night.

Didn't get any rain here yesterday evening, but did get some wind which blew out a lot of smoke.  Actually saw blue sky for the first time in a long time.  But smoky again this morning. The may have had lightening in the mountains though, as I took the garbage up to the road I saw 2 new small fires in the mountains to the West of me.  Hopefully they will get them put out quickly.

118 again today morning.

The rains have withdrawn from here. I wish you get them soon Barbara. Read about the damage in Florida. Hope all members and their loved ones are safe.

Back into my normal numbers after so many days. 78 last evening before dinner and 90 today morning.

Yeah, everyone in or near Irma, please keep safe.
My life is based on a true story.

112 (6.2) this morning.

We woke this morning to a chilly 51 deg F (10.56) and it made for good sleeping last night.  :)

Same here . . . I just got up & we're at 52°. Felt so good snuggled down in the blankets!  :)

91 (5.04) this morning.  There is still a chance of thunderstorms today with lightening strikes in some adjoining areas through the night.  Not cool here yet, high yesterday 95° and overnight low 71° but still much nicer than a few days ago.
Plenty of damage in Florida from hurricane Irma and it will probably be a few days before a full assessment of the damage.  Some areas will be out of electrical power for a few days.

73 (4.04) this partly blue sky morning, 85 (4.71) at bedtime last night.

Actually seeing some blue sky today and the air doesn't smell so smoky.
Hope this lasts.

Terrible destruction from Irma! I follow Dr Jen Arnold (TLC's The Little Couple) on Twitter. They had just moved to St Pete's from Houston and were evacuated.  She was giving updates/retweets from the news and utility companies. The electric company says they may have total rebuilds to do so power could be out for weeks in some areas. She said in one of her tweets that she is a hurricane magnet! Guess that is true!

I've been reading about Irma in the newspapers and watching it on TV. Quite a lot of devastation in its path. Hope all your near and dear ones are safe. One of my cousins has a vacation home in Florida but they stay in Philadelphia. Hope everything is fine with them.
