Where is Shanny

Not sure who Sharon is, unless that is Patdart.  I have a list of my various online accounts, with user name and passwords, which is to go to my son should something happen to me and he is taking care of my affairs.  However, I should also append a note that asks him to log on to message boards and let people know what happened and why my account is being deactivated (when that time comes).

So yes, good news about Shanny.  :)

Sharon is one of our Moderators and part of the founding team. She goes by the name Shalynne on this and the other forum.

Sharon was one of the original Moderators here. If I recall correctly, she had some personal issues to deal with and dropped out for a while, which has become a long time.

Patdart is another member that just disappeared quite some time ago.  I worry about her too.

Well, this has been a surreal experience for sure! Thisis will teach me to keep my user names/passwords somewhere that isn't connected to a computer anywhere anytime!

Was bad enough when the laptop died with all my access codes on it . . . so even when dear daughter-in-law provided a new laptop (which she'll be compensated for when they get here next month!), I'm getting nowhere fast in getting readmitted to all my old haunts.

I did find a list of those codes in a 'save me' file on an old email account, but it hadn't been updated for a coupla years, so while it helped a little, was not the saving grace it might sound like.

And my old brain is just not up to all this commotion & drama like it was in the early days of my computer activity! Dang!  :-\

Great to see you back.  ;D
BTW I keep all my pw on a Note in my phone, just in case.

Good to see you back Shanny, missed you.  I have my pw written in a spiral notebood which my 'kid' laughs at because he thinks nobody writes anything on paper anymore.

Well, it is certainly good to hear from you again.  Of course when you don't hear from someone the worst comes to mind.  I'm sure it was a trial for you but glad you are back.  I learned the hard way a ling time ago and I have my passwords on a password manager but I also have all of my information on a hard copy that in not on a computer or any other device.  I would not keep them on my phone because I worry that they would be too easy to access by crooks.

Glad you are back Shanny!

I keep my pw in a spiral notebook and also on my old iPad1 that never leaves the house.

Welcome back Shanny. For a little while, you had us worried, but I'm glad you have a working laptop now.

I manage 3 websites and 1 smartphone App which require that I memorise quite a few passwords. Though I have them in my mind there are many sites with complex rules for passwords, so I also have a physical backup, just in case. I am very much against financial transactions over the internet but sometimes there is no option but to pay online. One can only pray that their data never gets stolen.

I don't do anything much on my phone either. So I risk keeping the passwords there.

I guess Shanny's computer woes are still not resolved.

Yes, that seems to be the case. Once she had her passwords figured out, there was no reason for her not to log in. I hope her problem is resolved soon.

Hard to know.  She made one post and then nothing since.  It does seem strange.  Once again hoping that nothing is wrong.

It's not my place to share this, but we are all worried about Shanny.  When I talked to her on the phone, she shared that her 18yo cat Waylon had passed away, about the time her computer crashed, and it was hard on them. That is a tough loss.

Things have still not quieted down over here, but I'll try to do better here on the forum. On the old computer, one of my browsers was set to open to this site, and I need to fix up something like that again - except that I'm no longer using two browsers.

The other issue is that our old dog got much worse after our cat died, and we had to have him put down today. Because he was a big ol' German shepherd and could barely walk, the vet came out to the house this evening to do it - and I so thank her for that! There's no way we could have gotten him in the car to go to the animal clinic . . . Chuck & I aren't strong enough anymore to lift that much.

So we're without any furballs, and it's very strange. In all these 30 years, we've prob'ly been without a pet for maybe 11-12 months. Tonight I dropped a strand of grated cheese on the floor & immediately thought 'Fritz will clean that up!' Except that Fritz is no longer here, so I had to clean up my own mess.

And this new laptop is still driving me crazy! It's just too small & I'm forever hitting some key or other that causes weird things to happen. Plus I can't use my ASCII codes because it doesn't have a 10-key pad. I can use the Character Map, but that's not as convenient.

Okay - done whining. ;)
