This report in The Times of India is interesting. How much time does your Dr devote to you ? A lot would depend on the amount and quality of time given to the patient.

In the USA Medicare allows a doctor to charge for 15 min. and I think most insurances are around that.  My previous doctor stuck to that as the maximum time he would spend with you.  When time was up he was out the door.  My present doctor is a jewel.  She spends as much time as needed and often goes over the appointed time.  As a result when you have an appointment you may have to wait a while past the appointment time but I am OK with that because I know when it is my turn she will make sure everything has been covered.

We are the same as Wally about our doc. He is just the best thing that ever happened to us. Years ago my everlovin' had a psychotic break, and once we were able to see our doc a day or so later, he listened for prob'ly 30-40 minutes to the gory story. Finally Mr. Shanny - having been a doc himself - said it had to stop, that there just wasn't time for it. Our doc waved him off saying "I'm still listening".

And just like Wally, sometimes we have to wait a long time in the waiting room, but we realize that all his patients get the same personal attention that we get, and we're willing to accept that 'downside'.

I've prob'ly shared this with you before, but this is our doc - he is just a prince among men:

This makes for good reading material but I don't think the report is true. It says that the average for bangladesh is 48 seconds. 2 reasons that I don't buy this.

First, that is an average, so most of the cases would lie below the 48 seconds.
Second, 48 seconds is barely time for the Dr to ask the patient's name and symptoms.
My life is based on a true story.

Those are very good and compelling reasons to suspect the veracity of the report.
