85 (4.71) this cold morning, 94 (5.21) at bedtime last night.

Only got to 20°F (-6.6°C) so no melting at all. Thanks for reminding me Tamagno! I do have a pair of those ice cleats somewhere...just have to find them! I was gifted them years ago when I lived in the Northern Sierras.

Hope you & DH feel better soon Grammabear.

Hope you are feeling better GrammaB

Back to low carb eating. more like counting carbs than low carb. But better something than nothing.

My mom got lots of green garlic from my hometown and i just add it to everything these days.We do not get it here and i miss it so much in winters!

87 last evening before dinner and 96 today morning.

This time around the recovery is much faster. Just one day of bad numbers. Hope this continues.

128 this morning.

Yes, Grammabear, by all means you and your husband feel better! Having a cracked windshield in this weather doesn't sound good at all.

I've no big plans today beyond my usual routines which suits me just fine...

127 this morning.

The weather warmed up to 12 deg F this morning but the wind chill is still brutal.

Hubby feels well enough to go to work, but my body aches and coughing is still hanging on.

88 this morning.  It looks like the chance of rain next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is increasing so keeping fingers crossed.  We could really use it.  Of course all of the areas that burned will be subject to mudslides.

Well Happy New Year everyone!  It's been a crazy couple of weeks: birthday and Christmas in Mendocino, NYE.  Throw in a nasty cold, having to complete continuing education before year end and the lovely TCJA which had my phone ringing off the hook, I'm ready for a break!

Missed you all - hope GB you're feeling better and Barbara, stay safe on that ice. I like your goals CCD.

Wally, we're expecting rain tonight, fingers crossed.  Although as you mention, mudslides could be result.  Fingers crossed there as well that that doesn't happen.

83 (4.6) this frosty morning, 90 (4.99) at bedtime last night.

Still waiting for my box of strips.

Rocky- a consistent control always gets the numbers down earlier than binge eating for days and weeks. Good luck!

Good to hear from you auntkris.

Sometimes new year leaves me depressed. Feels like you are doing the same thing over and over again. While a part of you expects something new :)

Routine sometimes becomes mundane when there are children in the house who require a fixed schedule and regular regimen. It isn't a bad thing, and it isn't forever, so enjoy your youngsters while they're small, and in a few years you can enjoy all the new things you want.

Tamagno

130 this morning.

We've dire predictions for cold, wind and snow for today. Certainly the radar looks full of weather, but the snow at least has not yet started. I'd just as leave skip the snow. Yesterday, my wife made the trek to BJs for some groceries and we've laid in enough firewood for the day, so I've no reason to go out.

Glad you're back, AuntieKris!

CCD, I think feelings of ennui are something that plague many this time of year, however, like all emotions, it fades quickly to be replaced with others. Personally, I take comfort in my little routines as I've grown old having found that praying for excitement was something too often met with far more than anything I'd bargained for!

John, Have you ever written books ? I know your forte is music, but you could very well have been an author.

I totally agree to all of you. Infact i think i thrive in a routine and excitement is not my thing. After losing my dad suddenly, i am more than grateful for a normal day with no untimely phone calls.

Having said that, there is some low feeling i have which I think has more to do with untimely eating schedules, lack of exercise, lethargically spent holidays. I generally have a dozen things planned for holidays which i wait for all year but end up spending them with books, netflix and over sleeping. A lot of it could be mom leaving on 1st Jan every year  ::)

Tamagno- i second what skb said. Write a book!

97 this morning.  Like Kris said it looks like there is a good chance of rain North of here and that is a good thing baring any mud slides.  Here it looks better for rain Monday and Tuesday.  Anything would be nice.  Temps will remain mild though.
I agree with John, at my age routine is welcome but I can understand CCD, sometimes the routine gets a bit boring.  Well, things have a way of changing and hopefully it is for the good.
