150 this morning.

Today is my last visit with my neurologist who's retiring the end of the year. While I'm glad he's able to do so, finding a replacement is going to be rough around here. Sadly, so many docs are packing it in and either retiring or moving to greener pastures. Can't say I blame them as the many exigencies of both private and group practices have grown onerous to impossible.

On a brighter note, my monthly trip to Costco was amazingly easy yesterday. I seemed to avoid traffic on the way, actually got a handicapped parking spot (the only time I've gotten one there) and zipped through their pharmacy with no crowds or problems. I was stunned to find I was back home in just over an hour and that includes an ATM stop on the way!

It is cold today at 15 deg F so when we make our weekly trip to the grocery store, we had better bundle up in all our typical winter gear.  Ugh...don't like winter for that reason.

Finding a new doctor is a daunting task.  I wish you Good Luck Tamagno.  Today has to be lucky for you if you found a handicapped spot to park.  Once in a great while, like two or three times a year, we might find a 'Senior spot' to park and that sure makes it nice.

88 this morning.  Well, we got a lot more rain yesterday than predicted.  Total for here was 1/2 inch which is quite a lot for this desert town.  Some areas in Southern California received 3-4 inches and were only expecting up to 1 inch.  of course the burn areas had mudslides but it doesn't seem too bad.
Tamagno, I hope finding a replacement is not too difficult.  Here we are too small to make it profitable for many specialist to be here full time but we are lucky that several make a 75 mile drive once a week to practice here.
Barbara, glad you found a more reliable pump guy.  It's good to hear your  ~ cat ~ is doing better.  Hope he continues to improve.
Grammabear, the injection in the knee is really not unpleasant.  He freezes the area a bit beforehand and I don't really feel anything.  Right now it is sore and I have to ice it for a few days but it should make a big difference.

Boo is slowly eating more and getting better, very slowly. I called the vet today because he hasn't pooped since being in hospital Monday. Vet said no problem, he was totally cleaned out, not to worry.

Tamagno, hope you can find a new doctor you can work with.

On the pump front, not so good. Froze up again last night. It got down to 3°F overnight and all that was heating up the pump house was an old hair dryer... sigh... $160 yesterday, $214 today to get it fixed again. This time a pipe broke. Did add a proper heater but for some reason, no water pressure, only a trickle of water coming out of 2 faucets. Don't know if now this is a job for a plumber...

I am really feeling stressed, feel like there isn't anything I can do...

BigSkyGal, I sure hope you're able to get that pump fixed quickly!

Decent visit with the neurologist yesterday who recommended another in the same office. Insofar as he's the same last name as a noted soviet-era Russian musician he should be okay.

Wally, you all must be glad of the rain, not to mention minimal mud slides.

Our cold just continues - the Snow Birds up here are all wanting to head south early this...

Barb - So sorry for your pump troubles and the low water pressure.  We had pump troubles several years ago, ended up with them pulling the pump and installing everything all new.  We didn't realize how dependent we are on a water pump.  Ours was 30 some feet deep and the new one is now twice that depth before they hit water.  I can appreciate your anxiety.  Sending you positive thoughts today.

Wally - Hope your knee progresses to the point where you don't have a lot of pain and you can walk a little more comfortably.

101 this morning.  The rain is out of here now but it was sure nice to get what we did.  No problems here with flooding, it was just a slow steady sprinkle all day.  The mountains got a lot of snow and the Mammoth Mountain Ski area has an accumulation of 70 inches at the upper slopes.  The snow pack in the Sierras provides water for a large part of Southern California.
Barbara, sorry you are having so much trouble with your water system.  I hope you can get that worked out.
Grammabear, thanks, I was a bit sore yesterday and took it easy but today my knee is a lot better and I think I am going to be back to normal soon.

Boo is about the same, still worried about him. At least he isn't throwing up any more.

Still have only one faucet working in the house. Of course, it isn't in the kitchen, it is the bathtub in my master bath...  :(  I just don't know what to think or do... I guess I call the plumber on Monday...hopefully I still have water then...

Wally, glad your knee is better.

Ditto BigSkyGal, Wally!

Sounds like that plumbing is in need of help, Barb. Interestingly, even though we've tons of wetlands on our property, our well goes down nearly 300'. At least, I guess, that saves freezing problems, but would make an expensive upgrade and I'm not sure it'd be worth it.

It's not supposed to get up to even 20 here until around nine am. It's going to be cold again so I don't know if I'll get out or not, although at the least I'll be needing to bring in firewood.

Cold here today at 15 deg F.  And just a few months ago I was complaining because it was 80 deg F.  It was a struggle to leave my warm bed this morning to make it to the kitchen for my usual first cup of coffee.  Trying a new coconut milk creamer and so far it tastes pretty good.

107 this morning.  Our weather here looks like it will be pretty stable for the next few days.  Sunny and mild with temps in the mid 50s.  The rain Southern California had last Thursday has been heading East and lots of snow for some.  Hope you all stay safe.
Our heater is programed to raise the temp before it's time to get up so it's not a shock to get out of bed.  I really like programable thermostats.  This one came with the new heating system and it could be connected to a smart phone but I don't really like the idea of that.
Tamagno, no matter how deep your well is the freezing problems start after the well head with the plumbing from there on.  The well we had in the mountain house had a very well insulated little building over it and was heavily insulated and we never had a freezing problem but out lowest temperatures were never under about 7°.  Poor Barbara is seeing lower temps than that but maybe  better insulation could help.

Yes, we had some really cold weather when I froze the first time. Water situation is about the same. The bath tub is running and occasionally the guest bathroom and kitchen will spurt out some water. I've never had this no pressure issue before.

High today 33°F overnight prediction is for 20°F. Gradual warming to high 30'snext few days.
