Wally, I'll be curious to hear about your new weather station. It sounds pretty cool and I wonder how it'll fare with accuracy and general maintenance. I have three different weather apps I check everyday (Weather Bug, Clear Day and Local Weather) plus an indoor/outdoor monitor that I use mostly just for outdoor temperature. I've tried several different types of monitors with varying success as they've proven finicky in our variable weather.

92 this morning.  Another day in the low 80's but we have a wind advisory starting around 4:00 PM and going until midnight.  Wind gusts could be as high as 55 MPH.
Tamagno, I am also interested to see how the new weather station works.  I have been using one for about 5 years that worked fairly well but it has finally worn out.  There have been improvements in the sensors and it has gotten good reviews so we will just have to see.  Maintenance should be pretty simple.  It is solar powered with a battery back up and the batteries arte supposed to last 2-3 years.  The only other chore is to clean the rain gauge a couple of times a year.

Woke to a light dusting of snow, but it melted off by noon. It got up to 40°F (4.44°C) today.

Have been super busy with work and the work trip. was working 14 hours a day.

Just wanted to drop in to say that metformin is working wonders for me. In just a few days, i lost all that bloating i had after meals. It was weird that i would fit in something one day and very next day post meal, i would not fit in comfortably in the same.

I am still over-weight but do not look forever pregnant  :D

Also, i am much more energetic and the constant doom i felt that i will die young seems to have lifted. I feel better as a whole.

I also have started taking 4 AM walks since 2 days so will proudly post on exercise thread :)

Hope everyone is well!

187 this morning (I forgot to change my basal rate after dinner).

That's great news, CCD, congratulations!

Kathy, I'm so sorry you've another UTI. Hopefully, your doc will get you the right antibiotic and it goes away quickly.

It being senior discount day, I'll be going to the grocery later. I'm hoping to find some post-Easter sales on some sort of meat; it's been so terribly pricey in recent months. The stores aren't stocking nearly so much of it these days, so I guess people aren't buying a lot. I always wonder what they do with excess stock as it passes it's expiration dates...

Congratulations CCD.  I'm glad for you that Metformin is working well.  Keep up the good work.

The APN I saw yesterday for the UTI feels that I am seriously dehydrated and that I need to keep track of the
fluid intake.  She claims coffee doesn't count as it is a diuretic.  So I'm actually going to write down when I have water just to monitor it.  Same antibiotic as before because of comprimised kidney function.

We love 'Senior' days and every once in a while we find some real bargains - like salmon for half price.  Don't know about you folks but fresh salmon in our store is over $12 a pound.

95 this morning.  We were at 84° yesterday and should be the same today.  It looks like a chance of some rain Saturday, around 20-50% depending on the weather service.  I got my new weather station yesterday and it was very easy to assemble and set it up.  I have it mounted on a pole temporarily to try it out before finally mounting it on the roof.  So far it looks good.  There has been a lot of improvement over my old unit that I bought some 5-6 years ago.  It is able to connect to my computer wirelessly and I was able to get it connected to the Ambient Weather cloud service so I can view the current data on my computer and my phone.  Trying to get connected to Weatherunderground but not successful yet.
CCD, so glad that the Metformin is working well for you.
Kathy, sorry you have to deal with yet another UTI.  Hope it goes away soon.  I think that your  APN is wrong but whatever.  Coffee may be a mild diuretic but it is also about 99 % water.  I have a 24 oz. mug of coffee every day and I count that as 24 oz. of water.  I do keep track of how much water I drink a day and it is usually 64+ oz. a day.  Then again there is nothing wrong with drinking plain water.  I keep a glass on my desk and drink during the day.

I don't drink much coffee, but a lot of green tea, which contains somewhat less caffeine than coffee. Besides which, we have wonderful ice-cold well water, and it's delicious . . . I don't even add ice, it's that cold.

My hot drink mugs hold a pint, and my cold drink ones hold a quart, so whatever the contents, I'm getting a lot of fluid. I disagree with your APN that coffee doesn't count at all. That's a pretty extreme concept.

You can determine whether or not you're getting dehydrated if your urine output stays high. If/when that starts dropping, you need to start drinking more. And it doesn't matter what liquids you drink . . .water, milk, juice, coffee, tea . . . they all work. In fact, milk is the best according to this article.

I have a Thermos brand drink bottle that holds 16 ounces and I usually drink two of them in addition to two 12 ounce mugs of coffee.  I'm not sure what counts as liquid as my skin is super dry and it cracks and bleeds a lot.  I just know I am tired of UTIs and this is the third one I had since February 1st.  My blood sugar went from 106 before breakfast, which was two scrambled eggs, to 202 about two hours after breakfast which included the antibiotic.  I can't keep up with this antibiotics all the time.  I feel lousy, have the chills, have to always be near the bathroom - you get the idea.

191 this morning (obviously, the basal rates I tried setting up aren't working, so I'm going back to my previous scheme).

Like everything that I ingest, my fluids are limited as well. However, I have a fair bit of coffee in the mornings and a couple of fruit teas during the day. For cold drink, I like Crystal Ice lemonade, but don't have tons of it. As it gets warmer that may change.

UTIs can be such a problem no matter what. I've really little idea about hydration, especially in cold weather that also causes me terrible dry skin troubles. I haven't had UTIs this year, but the dryness has remained this winter. Of course, prior to cancer treatments, I was getting UTIs every month, but they seem finally to have resolved. Ultimately, I saw an infectious disease specialist who had much better success with treating them.

Wally, if you can let me know which brand weather station you got it would be great. I think it would be good to have such a device.

97 this morning.  We got up to 84° yesterday so still nice outside.  Looking at a chance of rain Saturday so the temps will drop some but not much.
Grammabear, bummer about the UTI's.  Hope you can get past that.  Apparently as we get older dehydration is a common problem.  My MIL is in her 90's and when she lived with us she had to be reminded constantly to drink water.  I kind of took a hint from that and drink during the day.  I drink coffee, tea, and just plain water and I stay over 60 oz./day.  Some say just drink when you are thirsty and that will be plenty but that does not hold true for every one.
Tamagno, the weather station I bought is from Ambient Weather in Arizona.  It is a WS-2902A.  Not the most expensive but quite nice for the price.  Pretty easy to set up and I just got it connected to the internet and I am broadcasting on WeatherUnderground.  The WeatherUnderground map shows several weather stations in the nearby neighborhood and all seem to be very close as far as temperature.  You can get a lot more information from the Ambient Weather web site.

Wally - Is this weather station of yours easy enough to set up if you are not tech savvy?  Simple things I somehow can manage, but not intricate things.
