Actual reduction in height. Standing against a wall with measurements on it and a sliding rod that slides down to the top of your head. So floor to top of head measurement. I've gone from 5'5.5" to 5'4" as I've aged. Probably will loose more if I live long enough...

I have lost at least an inch in height and probably more but it has been a couple of years since my height was measured.  I had my height measured at one doctors visit and the nurse said 5' 6" and I said "no I am 5' 7" and she said "sir, you do lose height as you get older" and my reply was "oh".  I didn't actually realize that it would be that apparent.  I haven't had my height measured for a while but the compression of the discs in my spine have caused me problems with sciatica and sore back so it is a fact of life.

Yes, puzzling it is.
I posted a response, but I guess I didn't "Post"it.

It is odd how it is just skb and I that have the gremlins. My posts are "Invalid" and his wind up as attachments to existing posts. Has either ever happened to you, Wally?   I don't recall any...
